I agree that this has a certain resemblance to True Grit, but I would be very interested to know where it is officially credited to Bernstein. IMDB, Classicthemes and Bernstein's own website make no mention of it.
That's so fantastic, OneCrazyElephant! I hope that it will be in early 2010. I will buy all those DVDs. Thank you for that wonderful message. I am ecstatic!
New Treasure Hunt fans!! All episodes from 1973-1977 coming out on DVD in 2010!! Just got the word from a source at Chuck Barris Productions (now Barris Enterprises) the other day. I'm excited!!
I grew up around the same time (I was 10 in 1974) and I just never recalled ever hearing it before; never doubted you, just never heard it on commercial airplay.
Didn't mean to be forward. Just remembered hearing it on the radio around that time. They used to play this song before they went to the news. My apologies for being forward.
Hey, no problem! I was just flabbergasted when I saw that it was on commercial airplay. I never thought it would have made it that far; I have been in radio broadcasting for over 20 years now, Richie...love it!
It does sound a bit like 'The Hustle' which is which I find it so groovy to listen to. The New Treasure Hunt closing theme is a mixture of funk, Marvin Gaye inspired R&B, jazz and 1970's soul and my recommendation is The Marvin Gaye Deluxe Edition 2CD set "Let's Get It On!" Tracks "Just To Keep You Satisfied" and "Soul #3" are a must download on your iPod or mp3 player, as close to the original Treasure Hunt theme as it gets!
I miss those good old days of network and syndicated game shows! There had to be a lot of them back in my childhood, and all were fun to watch. (Treasure Hunt aired for only one season on my local CBS station, but seeing people find goodies in those boxes - well, Christmas had to happen everyday in that studio.)

That music made the show...the craziness balanced off by this elegant theme.

Definitely not the song I remember from the show.

The closing theme sounds like "TRUE GRIT" by Glen Campbell to an extent.

I liked this show as a kid, but thinking back on it realize it was a pretty chessy affair elevated by Geoff Edwards.

This theme used to be played on all the AM Radio staions around the country. Great tune.

The theme is a modern version of "True Grit" by Elmer Bernstein from the John Wayne film.

Love Treasure Hunt as a kid! Thanks for putting this up!

Reminds me as the forerunner to Van McCoy's 1975 disco smash "The Hustle".
