Whenever I watch this video I always feel sad because I know that everywhere in the world there are small children who are without proper clothing and go to bed and go hungry. I usually try not to think about it...but it shatters my heart every time I do.
It was my favorit cartoon, recorded on a VHS that someone gave me one day :) now I'm 21 and I'm still singing "I'll see you somewhere in dreamland, somewhere in dreamland tonight...." haaaa ça me rappelle ma jeunesse :)
@tygrrlily369 The merry-go-round is a combination of stop motion photographs with a hand-drawn animation overlay. Some parts of dreamland were probably done in this way as well.
20 years old now and i remember watching this when i mustve only been like 3 or 4 and watching it as a grew up. love watching all these cartoons, then and now.
Aw back in a day with good ol' mom and pop shops who actually care more about their customers while still just wanting to put bread on the table for their family too =3
I saw this cartoon back in the early 90's on Donald Duck Presents which was a disney program that showed Donald Duck cartoons and every episode would have a special Non Dsiney cartoon and I stumbled across this great Fleischer cartoon
"I'll see you somewhere in Dreamland, somewhere in Dreamland tonighttt--Over a bridge made of moon-beams, we'll find the clouds are silverrr lined. Each little star is a castle, shining a welcome so brighttt. Dreams will come true, for me--for you!--Somewhere in Dreamland tonightttt."
Claudiaaugustin, my sister and I always imagined it was us, too. :-) (Even though it's a boy and a girl in the cartoon, we always pictured it was us.)
this was me and my brothers favorite cartoon its made us think how we were just like those kids , now i see it and it brings back old memories and a tear to my eye , this is by far the the best cartoon ive seen:)
My twin sister and I used to watch this video when we were younger...we always looked at ourseles as the children in the video. This brings back bittersweet memories...a smile, and a tear to my eye. I love the simplicity, and underlying moral implications that are tucked within this little cartoon. It's a shame how much we all take for granted... It is heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time.
This particular cartoon is so heartbreaking, and so accurate. This still happens today, and it's such a shame to know that so many out there suffer. Thank God for what He gives us and blesses us with.

These cartoons really taught me to appreciate everything I had; this one and the Christmas short with Grampy from Betty Boop especially.
