  • Is there a group to join to talk about this, as I have a diabetic dog, but have not tested him everyday, The only time I have is when it is an emergency, and I had to cut his nail to get blood... This video really helped me to see a different way to do it... Not sure how he will like this, it does not appear to hurt. Do you test everyday? Dakota has been diabetic for many years, I must be doing something right, but I think I am still doing it by instinct.

  • @DDakotaCharm Yes, I belong to a great group. You can google K9Diabetes and join. You will get lots of great help there. Using the lancet device makes it very tolerable for the dog. I could not do it if I thought I was hurting Chloe. I think there are less nerve endings in the carpal pad too. Good luck to you and if I can help further, please let me know.

  • your dog is very good and cooperative ! wat number did you use to lance it? I tried it on number 7 and I do see blood but it is never enough to test. I get error reading.

  • @bubblegumtits I use the SoftClix lancet device set on the higest setting. I think it is 5 1/2. Chloe is cooperative, but I have a collar and leash on her that it attached to the chair. It's hard to see that in the video. If you have a hard time getting enough blood, you can warm the area with a heated washcloth inside a ziplock bag for a few seconds and then lance and then genly squeeze until you get enough blood. If I can help further, please let me know.
