  • G'day mate,

Interested in getting involved in IPSC at the St Ives club. As a general question what do you reckon it would costs you per event in terms of ammunition, entrance fees, club fees, licence fee's etc?

Also, do they ever do IPSC with long weapons, either rifle or shotgun?

  • Some clubs fees are more expensive than others, mine costs about $250/year. My ammo I reload for about $6/box(50) versus $20/box to buy.

Match entry is about $40 or $50 per two day event unless it's a major match then it can be alot more ($200+ for the Australian Nationals).

They do have rifle and shotgun IPSC but you can't use semi-auto rifles or pump action shotguns because of the law. My major expense would be travel because I don't live in a major city.

  • That was worth watching...

Jepp, IPSC is the sport....( production )

  • I watched this video 7 months ago.

  • great vid Scotty, and just had a laugh reading through the comments seeing my name. Some of those stages from Wondonga and River City look awesome!!!!

i use to shoot a modified M&P9, but now im about to debut my pimped STI Trojan lol

IPSC is a top sport and we definately need more young people in the sport.

  • Thanks Henri, it's the best sport there is I reckon.

Looking forward to seeing your pimped STI in action.

  • Cool, I new you were gonna make a new vid. That's blacktown. I gotta find a job so I can save up n get my gun licence. My little bro is tryna get his too. He is 13 years old turning 14 in February. Do you think he will be able to do IPSC?

  • I think they want young ones to be 14yo for IPSC due to the recoil of centrefire guns. They're concerned about the damage that strong recoil might do to young bones and muscle. Bit silly really. No-one seems to have the same concerns for young tennis players.

As for saving up. IPSC is not a cheap sport. Sure you can buy a Glock for around $700 and some gear to get started but you'll spend more than that on ammo in the first year. It's a top sport though.

  • Maybe a Glock 17A or a Smith & Wesson M&P 9L. They're both pretty much the same I heard hehe. Looks like a great sport with all that running around. Keep ya fit. Do you make your own reloads? Do you think its worth while for .9mm's or .38 supers?

  • I like the Glock; it's cheap and it runs forever. Reloading is definitely worth it. a box of 50 bullets in 9mm costs about $20, I make my own for $6. That's a decent saving when you calculate I use between 5000 - 7000 a year.

It's not a bad sport for fitness but I defnitely need to lose some weight. That's my priority for this year.

  • Haha ok that's cool. I was lookin at the Lee Pro 1000. Cool stuff. So we can watch the other competitors at Blacktown without a licence right?

  • Yep, should have no problems watching. Talk to Jim Staader at Blacktown, he comes across as a gruff sort of bloke but he's a good guy who just doesn't take any bullshit.

The Lee 1000 is a good beginners press. I used one to start off with but I decided I wanted something better so now I have the Dillon 650. It's the best reloading press ever made.

  • Just don't mention your YouTube username at the gun club, you'll make people nervous. :)

  • Oh, yeah geez. It really makes it look bad doesn't it? It's a name of a band I want to make unless someone steals the name first hahaha. Cos I play heavy metal guitar.

  • Check out username HLCHLC he's a Sydney IPSC shooter who's also a big time metal fan and plays guitar.

  • Yep, saw his vid right after yours. They should put shooting vids on TVS lol.

  • good shooting there Mate

    Well done

  • Thanks mate, have a great Christmas
