The band will never be able to play as lively or tight as they did back in the day, but they still are something else. I got the chills last year seeing them for the first time in a long while. Legendary band!
how sad that bruce was so fresh, innocent, and non-white-niggerish up until the mid-nineties. Now he just seems/is a caricature of "himself." Nearly all of the spontaneity is gone. "Never" expected him to become jaded in miserable like dylan et al, but he has. sad.
If Bruce and the E Streeters go back out on tour, say in 2011, go see them - see them no matter what. Because the next time might really be the last time, despite whatever Bruce will say. They're still dynamite, though. Very worth seeing.
You can't compare a 7-person full band to a solo artist like Mayer, for starters, nor is there any musical or stylistic similarity.
Bruce & E-Street are a bit of an anomaly in music. Landau was wrong about "the future of Rock & Roll," but only because nobody else has the versatility and talent to pull it off.
Really, the closest comparison might be to Jam Bands like the Dead (or modern-day, Dave Matthews, perhaps). And then, the only similarity is just the large bands and solos
I completely agree with you JJSHIZZ, not only the physical appearances, but also his voice. his voice sounds totally different from the time of greetings and wild to the time of lucky town and human touch
from 1975 (here).. to 1985, his look completely changed.. if someone didnt know bruce, and you showed them a picture of him from 75, and then from 85, they wouldnt know its the same person... it's crazy.. not only his physical body, but his face to.. i dont know maybe it's me.. anyone wana share their opinion on that?
Springsteen was born in 1950. In 1975 he was 25 (hard to believe he was that young), and in 1985 he was 35. So no, not really surprising, you're just forgetting how young he was in these videos.
I would argue that while his sound has changed, it isn't better or worse. If he sounded the same as he did when he was 25 at the age of 59, that would be weird. He is bound to sound different with the passage of time, and it makes sense to explore new directions in his music in order to keep it fresh.
I've just had a go at it and got the rough chords. Verse is B, G#m, E, F#.
Bridge is E, B then the notes B, C C#, D D# for that ascending scale bit, E chord again then F#-E-F#, back to chorus. The rest of the song is based on the same chords.
Total fuckin' bar band genius, like they got in Jersey, and Louisiana, Detroit and a few other places in North America. Come on, Britishers, clap...on the two, please.
I am not saying British audiences don't know to clap on the 2 and 4 now. What djangola posted was what Jeff Beck said about early 60's British audiences.
He's like the frikkin duracell bunny. He just goes on and on and on and on. I don't mind ;) tho some do, ask Tom petty. At the "no nukes benefit" he played for 5 or 6 hours.

his sound changed too, for the worst in my opinion. this is nirvana for me.

so whoever is giving me thumbs down thinks that he changed his sound for the better? ur all retarded if u think that
