If you ever paid attention to any kind of natural history show, or ever been to a public zoo, you'd have noticed that the pups/cubs/kittens/whathaveyous of predatory animals play by wrestling and biting. It helps them develop a repoire with each other, determines a group heirarchy (see: high school football players, soccer players, and chess club), and helps them develop hunting and fighting skills they will typically need in the wild to survive.
