  • tabs??

  • @FilmPriest Sorry...I never have used Tabs. I play totallyt by ear.

  • @BuddyClontz Ok, great cover though! Really nice!

  • Very nice playing! Tone sounds nice also. MAYBE slightly too much treble. Very nice though!!

  • @ridemfast55 Thanks!

  • Where are you getting all those background pictures that somehow seen to match what you are playing

  • @steveisler That's part of a 40 year+ collection I have.

  • Great cover, got some pretty cool pictures too

I wish I could play by ear.

  • @bradlaypamp Thanks!

  • I'm still loving this version some yrs afterwards...it has stood the test of time!

    Nicely played.

  • @taildragger53 Thanks!

  • @BuddyClontz what pick up you use?

  • Very well played. Thanks for showing.

  • @HermannRubartV Thanks for listening!

  • Absolutely brilliant cover, Buddy. All of your covers are so well made. Quick question: how did you learn this particular song? Did you use Andy Aledort's Electric Ladyland how to video by any chance?

  • @LtMusicDude Thanks! Actually, I don't do anything but listen to the songs and then I more or less visualize how they might be played and then go at it. Sometimes I hit it "right" the first time I hear it and sometimes I have to work on it a bit...but most of the time it's pretty quick for me to hear a song then play it. I don't read music so I always play by ear and I play in standard tuning.

  • Fender amp?

  • @gogogrant Yes, it is a Hot Rod DeVille 4-10.

  • @BuddyClontz It sounds incredible!

  • Are you in E-Flat for this particular cover Buddy? I would like to try and play along as well as learn how you play this fantastic song. Excellent work anyway.

  • @XxMaskedSniperxX I am in standard tuning. E A D G B E

  • You are really good. Have seen a lot of Your vids and they are all outstanding. Would like You ad some uni vibe sound.

  • @jzf128 Thanks! Yes, when I get back around to playing some more...I'll have to do that.

  • Buddy!!!!! You really should do a cover of "May This Be Love"! All your Hendrix covers are great.

  • @TJLethal21 Thanks! I've always liked that song so eventually I may get around to covering it. Thanks for watching.

  • @BuddyClontz Hey man your play very well.... dont take it personally but try singing with the songs. that would be great.

  • good cover but theres no soul in it.give it some of ur own flavor.spice it up man

  • @millito27 Thanks for your judgement.

  • @millito27 Hey there's plenty of soul here. He just isn't making a bunch of Santana pain faces. I love that crackling clean overdriven tone too!

  • pace and love man.....great and beautifull cover

  • @kartman74usa Thanks!

  • great cover man!!!

Seriously make a video lesson on this song its so beautiful!!!!

  • @TheEliasespinal Thank you! In time I hope to do some more stuff.

  • nice tone man!

  • loved it! check out my version, not as good as this though! feel free to leave comments

  • and you recorded this on the day he died. but you knew that.

  • are you playing standered tuning or hald a step down ?

  • I'm playing in standard tuning.

  • very nice, great sound.

  • nice fucking tune

  • love the tone and the playing BC !!!!!!! would love to see and here more!!!!!! kev.

  • Thanks!

  • Nice tone. What amp?

  • Fender Hot Rod DeVille 4-10

  • My guess was the Twin Reverb. Your amp sounds great and the pickups sound just as awesome. Great combo.

  • What pickups are in that Strat? Are they SCN noiseless pickups?

Great video, I love the guitar tone.

  • Thanks! The pickups in this one are the vintage noiseless pickups which were first put in American Deluxe Models before the SNC Noiseless pickups were used by Fender. -BC

  • well played, but you should try to fret with your thumb to get the real Hendrix vibe. 5/5 though

    and nice tone!

  • Sometimes I play that way but for me it's just not a comfortable way to play. -BC

  • Yeah i may have put it a bit to harsh. Its just a suggestion play however you want to play! :D

  • Wow man, great cover, awesome strat, well played....think i'll subscribe to your thing here on YouTube...really cool!!

  • Thanks! -BC

  • nice work!

  • Thanks! -BC

  • Thanks YodaVH! -BC

  • If I had a million dollars, I'd pay you to help me get that tone and teach me the song.

Amazing tone and technique man, you should do a lesson. It would be greatly appreciated. ;)

  • I'll tell you what...You pay me a million dollars and I'll teach you everything I know...LOL -BC

  • Haha, I wish I wish..

Whats the price tag for a video lesson on this song? :D

  • Tab?

  • I play by ear and do not use any Tab or anything else. I just listen to the songs and play what I hear if it is within my ability to play it. -BC

  • nice cover man. also i think you should do some rolling stones for your channel

  • Thanks! Maybe so... -BC

  • whaouuu.....

  • GReat Cover man ALso GTEAT TUNe what year is your strat??

  • Thanks! I think this one is a 2002 model. -BC

  • very nice what would u recomend for 60 psych a strat or an sg

  • THanks! They are both great guitars! -BC

  • can you telll me whaat effects you used in this vid please!?! and what the setting where

  • Basically none...other than reverb. -BC

  • Nice job! I've been playing for 2 years now and I just have to ask you. I suppose you don't use tabs and I wish I didnt have too neither. How do I train my ear so I can figure out songs on my own? Any tips?

  • Thanks! I wish I could explain it...but it is something that I have always been able to do. I do regret not having the formal music theory and training in my background because I'm sure it would make some things easier to master. -BC

  • nice job on this song man also nice peter max in the background

  • Thanks! -BC

  • You are a talented guitarist! A wonderful song, it takes some skill and dedication to have it sound that beautiful.

  • Thanks...maybe some luck too...LOL -BC

  • How did you get that great tone? Fantastic cover; the best on YouTube.

  • Thanks! I tweeked a few amp knobs...and the rest is in the guitar and my fingers. -BC

  • I love your covers dude. They help me out a lot with my playing

  • Thank you! -BC

  • Excellent to everything here! Very soft touch and the feel is there too! Bravo.

  • Thanks! -BC

  • do you sound your music out? ive seen some other vids of yours and there really good.

  • Thanks! I'm not sure what you are asking. -BC

  • Amazing cover. Can't wait until summer when I have some time to try and learn it from this vid.

  • Thank you. This is a relatively simple Hendrix song to cover but there are some suble things going on in terms of chord voicings that take this song to another level. I wish I had played the leads on this one...but I did it quickly...and just decided to leave it as it was. Maybe next time... -BC

  • sweet!!!

  • thanks so much for that!!! It's a great lesson how to set my left hand on fingerboard

it's great that you're so dedicated to rock music, mister. Greetings from Poland!!!

  • Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. -BC

  • no, ive never been to electric ladyland lol, well in my mind i ave

  • I think we've all been there...at least in our minds...LOL -BC

  • Ou Yeahh es lo mejor,..!!esta chidisisimo tu cover.!!

  • sick cover do you have tabs man or can you make a vid on how to play the song

  • Thanks! I don't have TABS, I play by ear. -BC

  • just like jimi did!

  • Thanks...but actually no one is really like Jimi. He was a very gifted musician. -BC

  • of course! He was one of a kind. The most influential guitarist that ever lived....LEGEND! Your still great tho man!

  • Thanks! -BC

  • That was it !!!! yeah, definitly one of the best cover of this song i've seen on you tube... You've got the right feeling... I also play by hear, and i think that's the secret to play an hendrix song... specialy for this song without a standard rythm... thanks you

  • Thank you! -BC

  • Buddy you remind me of a hippie that went straight and made a family and bought a house

  • LOL...that's not too far off the mark...but I was never a Hippie. I did look somewhat like one back in the 1970's but so did most everyone else. -BC

  • Where could i find the tab for this? all the ones i've seen are horrible

  • I don't know. I play by ear so I don't use TAB or anything else. I just listen and then play. -BC

  • just curious

how long did it take for you to learn everythign by ear

iv been playing for 2 years and i fail at trying to learn stuff by ear

  • For me playing by ear is easier. It usually only takes a few minutes for me to work out a song playing by ear...then if it's a challenge, a little practice...but normally I can pick out the parts to a song very quickly. -BC

  • I just figured this out by ear too i was just too lazy to before. The key to learning by ear is repeat repeat repeat and learn the song in small parts don't get ahead of yourself, also if you can slow the song down that helps a lot too

  • what amp are you running the strat through it sounds awsome, great cover

  • Thanks! It's a Fender Hot Rod DeVille 4-10. -BC

  • nice cover. I see a les paul in the background. honestly which one do your prefer, the strat or paul.. don't say both.. make a choice if you had only one.. peace

  • If I could only have one or the other, I'd take the Strat. -BC

  • that's what i thought.. nothing beats a beat-up vintage maple strat... and you and always juice up the pups to anything you want...Nice playing peace

  • Thanks! That's an original 1970 Peter Max Poster in mint condition. I have been collecting that kind of stuff for almost 40 years now. -BC

  • wow very nice, check out my take on this

  • Amazing, your great man, thanks for the great videos, i'm sure i will be using some of these for references on learning jimi.

  • Thanks for watching! -BC

  • dude i love ur 70's graphics u have b4 every song, i dig it...

  • nice playin man!

  • Thanks! -BC

  • Great cover!!!

  • Thank You! -BC

  • Buddy Clontz does not sleep, he waits..

Buddy Clontz visited the Virgin Islands, they are now just the Islands.

Buddy Clontz can believe it's not butter.

  • LOL...That sounds more like Buddy Clontz 30 years ago! -BC

  • perfect!!!

    u in standard tuning?

  • Thanks! Yes, I play everything in standard tuning! -BC

  • The best cover of this song I've seen on youtube. Killer, killer tone too. Five stars.

  • Thanks! -BC

  • very nice, tabs please thank you

  • Thanks! I have no tabs, I play by ear. -BC

  • Hendrixfann, why do you keep asking for tabs if you must know full well that you can get them by putting in the key words into any search engine? Use some initiative, friend.

  • very nice cover, i love the peace sign picture on the wall

  • masterfully done. very skillful.

  • Thank You! -BC

  • hello buddy,

i have asked what kind of guitar ur playin in one of my posts and just saw that this is written at the begining of the vid :).

One question: what kind of musical education do u have (learned it from instructor or self-taught?)

    greetings from berlin.

  • Thanks for watching! I am totally self taught and I play by ear and that's about it. -BC

  • thats incredible. how old are u (if its possible to ask that :)))

i am 32 living in berlin and playin long necked lute since 15 years. since 1 year guitar (also self-taught).

ur abilities are amazing keep goin.

    greetings from berlin/germany.

  • Thanks for watching! As far as age goes...not as young as I used to be...LOL My oldest daughter is only 7 years younger than you.

    -BC

  • nice answer.

one thing: i wouldnt have asked ur age if u were looking like what ur age actually is :)

so i couldnt figure it out. to me u dont look like havin a daughter thats mid 20's, i would have said u are end 40's.

    greetings

    berlin.

  • dude great job i like the guitar and hendrix

  • Thanks! -BC

  • this is sweet, i have a lot of questions can i shoot you a message?

  • Thanks! Sure...send a message and I'll try to answer your questions. -BC

  • Thanks! -BC

  • sweet version. great chord voicings.

  • Thanks! -BC

  • o my gosh this gave me chills to listen to man!!!!

  • Beautifully done my friend.

    Very good job.

  • Thanks! -BC

  • could you tab this

  • Sorry...I don't use TAB. I just play by ear. Just listen carefully and watch and you'll learn it.-BC

  • BuddyClontz: I actually saw Jimi do this live in London at an after hours jam session. It was when the song was in it's infancy and before he'd named it. I've got to say you've done it WONDERFULLY!! It's a VERY difficult song to do because of the timing which seems to switch from 3/4 to 4/4 & God knows what else. Plus the tricky hammer-ons. It's one tune i've never been able to perfect but your video is of great help. Going to listen to the LP "Loose Ends" again. Many thanks!

  • Thanks! It's a great tune and has alway been one of my favorite Hendrix tunes. You were lucky to be able to witness some of that stuff live. -BC

  • Thanks Buddy. I must have watched this clip a good many times now as I have used it to learn and i can now play Elecric Ladyland, so thank you! Such a sweet track.

  • Thanks! Glad I could help in some small way. -BC

  • Yeah bro... I learned Dig A Pony by watching you and The Beatles. Thanks!

  • Good Deal! -BC

  • Hello again. I can see that on your other videos you use a JCM 2210 and I was interested to know what the clean sounds are like with it.

  • The JCM 2210 has a nice clean channel but it's not a Fender or Vox in terms of clean. The Marshall really sounds good cranked up with those tube naturally overdriving producing a very warm distortion. -BC

  • awesome video, im trying to use it as a guide, but was wondering if you could list the chords you use please.

  • Thanks! Actually I play by ear...so I never even think in terms of chords, etc. I simply listen and play "sounds". -BC

  • Adlexi; If you type "Max's Hendrix Enclave" you should find a tab which is close enough to Buddy's solo here. You have to look for the "Loose Ends" version of this tune. (that was the 1973 album it was released on)

  • nice good guitar

  • Thanks! -BC

  • Hello chap. Such a great track - I only heard it for the first time yesterday when I found a John Frusciante interview where he was talking about Hendrix. You sound great. I'm now going to use your video as a guide so I can learn it too, so thank you. I love the way hendrix uses the licks within the chords and this stuff is in the same mind set as little wing.

  • Thanks for checking out the videos! -BC

  • Dr9000; Actually when i saw Hendrix do this originally he introduced it as a tribute to Curtis Mayfield & The Impressions. His style of partial chords and double stops was borrowed directly from Curtis although Jimi took the whole idea to another level. He was unbelievable. 41 years since he hit the scene and we're still talking about him!

  • Awsome I doubt you use tabs but any tab's by chance or a lesson for this video or sorry if there already is one but I love this song it's so beautiful and would love to play it great job thanks 5/5

  • Thanks! I don't have any TABS nor do I use them. I play by ear. Thanks for watching! -BC

  • Nice ! Best piece of electric guitar music of all time. My opinion. The guitar track alone as Hendrix recorded is way better than the song on the album. You also have great tone.

  • Thanks for giving it a listen! -BC

  • helmsly: Yes,the instrumental version was far superior in my opinion also. The vocal version seemed abit cramped and overprocessed. All that's missing from Buddy's version is the studio engineer asking Jimi "Jimi, what's it called??" Jimi/"What?" Studio/"What's it called again?" Jimi/" Oh, Electric Ladyland" Peace & Love Buddy.

  • I told you Buddy, i watch this everyday, amazing

  • Thanks! -BC

  • damn that was amazing man props for this vid great choice too rip hendrix

  • Thanks! -BC

  • wow, that was beautifull, really good sound.

can i ask you where you got the peace symbol portrait?

i've also seen your other work and it's great.

    -M

  • Thanks! The poster with the peace symbol in the background in an original 1970 Peter Max Poster. It is in mint condition and would bring about $1500 in a gallery. I have one more if you're interested. -BC

  • Thanks for your offer, but im only 15 and don't have that amount of money :)

would have been cool, i meen groovie, though if i could afford it ;)

    thanks anyway

    -M

  • Beautiful cover, i'm liking the sixties style portraits. I also love the tone too. Great vid!

  • wow I love it , this tone , this sound....

  • Thank You! -BC

  • Man, i listen to this everyday, I absolutely love it. keep on jammin bro.......HENDRIX

  • Thanks for taking the time to listen! -BC

  • and oh ya.... um doo u have a tab for that anywhere???
