breaking a promise?? What is everybody talking about. I can't find any where where Obama says "I promise". When and where did he PROMISE?
It seems if other change their minds, they change their minds, but if Obama changes him mind all of the sudden he is breaking promises. I don't think he ever used the word "promise".
he actually checked a form that said he WOULD use public funds. Beyond that he's been saying that he public funds was the way to go, plus saying that he would meet with mccain to go over it vigorously (which he has yet to do). Go check out the Tim Russert vid, where he tells Obama point blank "you are going back on your word"
Wrong. Please stop perpetuating this myth and do some research. He signed an agreement to "aggressively pursue an agreement with the Republican nominee to preserve a publicly financed general election." Look it up. Granted, he has yet to meet with McCain, but they're both guilty of putting that meeting off.
They're both corporate candidates and they know it. Even Senator Durbin admitted that the banks "frankly, own the place (Washington)". There will never be a genuine effort on their part to the fix the system. It will have to be forced on them by the people. Sadly, we're all too distracted by TV, video games, and mundane, celebrity media coverage to give a s**t. So long, America. You were a great country once.
Wow, Obama just lost my vote. Changing his principles and breaking a promise all because of money???? Are you serious???? SHAME ON YOU BARAK, I didn't want to believe it but now I see you're just another politician like the rest.
How is this changing principles? Turning down soft money from the campaign financing system he's always said was corrupt is not changing principles. The system is broken; even McCain admits that. Just like the rest? No politician has EVER done what he's doing. c'mon now...
JUNE 2006: Barack Obama Says "I Strongly Support Public Financing." ..."but if we're still getting financed primarily from individual contributions, that those with the most money are still going to
No, case open. McCain was MORE than willing to accept and still is. Obama is backing out on his pledge because he knows how much money he can raise without being questioned on it. Plus, the DNC is dead broke.
I'm no McCain fan, but you have to call a spade a spade. Don't make excuses.
What does that mean exactly. He said (For the deaf.)that he would consider accepting public finacing in the general election IF the regressive candidate agreed to do so also. Has John McSame accepted public financing for the general election ? No. Case closed.
Here we go again... Obama do you ever mean what you say? The left wing media will not tell you about this. What FOX news if you want fair and balanced coverage of the election.
Amazing how this "champion of campaign finance" has completely destroyed it in any presidential race for the near future.

Hillary thought that her contributors who maxed out at $2,400 each, could match Obama's, millions of contributors, that donated less than $100 each.
Now, John McCain faces this financial buzzsaw, and wants to whine about it. BooHooHoo!!

Unfortunately, about 99% of the people who voted for Barack Obama will never make sense of this statement and its implications.

"Those who have the most money will ahve the most influence"
Well perhaps.. if you act like a robot.. but if you act like a person with a brain you only people influence you if you want them to.

I would say that you act more out of integrity; something obviously sorely lacking in washington today.
