@theone0921 If you dance salsa, you probably dance New York style. Tell me how you understand the differences between New York and Casino styles, for example.
They do way more than basic steps. (Though the composition/choreography could have been more interesting).
@qazwsxedcrfvg123 jajajajaja no no no!! im from cali colombia, so i dance salsa cali style!! im not saying that you dance bad, no, im just saying that is basic steps!! and most part of the video you dance alone and she dance alone!! no more!!
wow what a pointless arguement. first of all anyone that listens to salsa knows cali is the capital of salsa.. sorry to say hehe. and addressing jteskie: "I hate to say, and the dance style that accompanies real salsa certainly isn't this" sorry to tell you brother, but caleno style is deffinetely the better style, if you can dance caleno style, u can dance pr style, cuban style. Calenos style doesnt only consist of the fast paced dance its just sadly used to represent cali style over and over
"People like you" - "I hate the USA" - you've said it all right there.....I hope your hate keeps you as warm as your love of your Caleno dance style, and I wish you all the best......
I'm sorry to say it, salvicaleno, but the term Salsa was coined by the graphic designer, Izzy Sanabria, who did Album covers for Fania All-Stars in the 60's. Fania Studios is in Harlem, New York.
jteskie, you are arguing the unarguable as a purist, but since Salsa has changed so much since the '60s it's almost pointless now to stay a purist, since all the styles are now being combined, and all came from something else from Spain and Africa originally anyway.
show me proof that the name didn't come from New York. I think you forget unfortunately, that New York and the US is full of Latin Americans.
And who said I'm comparing this to North American Ballroom Salsa? I never once said that ballroom Salsa was being compared here. I agree with you that ballroom Salsa is a bunch of repetitive spins.
You still haven't addressed the fact that this video is mainly tango, boogaloo, flamenco, samba - why do you keep saying that I am saying these are Salsa?
everyone knows that the basis of Salsa came from Cuba and Puerto Rico and other native island rhythms (vallenato and cumbia not being one of them sorry - your cumbia got mixed in after colombians heard what was going on elsewhere), duh,
The dancing is technically excellent, I guess, but it doesn't make me want to learn it! There also seems to be a good deal of tango moves at the beginning of the video (00:15 to 00:21).
for me this is not a choreography! just basic steps!!
