Here's an example why: Ubisoft has found that %95 of their PC gamers have pirated copies. They're even killing their PC version of Future Soldier over it. They're making it an "online free-to-play game." It's serious. Companies are doing LESS than half-baked ports now. They are litterally canning games for the pc over piracy, and you are not helping.

Steam has a way of slashing the prices on a ton of games every now and again. Makes everything cheap and legit. Just got Fallout New Vegas for $5 as well.

@shivamtrivedi1 Umm your cpu speed does not double when you have dual cores. You have 2 1.8ghz cores that doesn't mean they equal 3.6ghz. Also you have what video card? Just because it has 1gb of video ram doesn't mean it's high end also doesn't mean it has pixel shader 3.0 and what not.
Software won't make it faster, you need better hardware.

@shivamtrivedi1 Because dual core CPU's aren't just doubling the speed that's not how they work. They just use multiple cores to spread out the load of work and make it easier. It's still a 1.8ghz cpu though. I'm running Split Second with full settings at 1680x1050 on an AMD Phenom quad core, quad 2.51ghz. GHZ really isn't the end all rating. Especially with AMD cpu's and newer Intel because they are more powerful then they appear.

The GPU core is more important then how much video ram you have. I have a Geforce GTX260 and it runs the game flawlessly but is a very powerful card with 768mb of video ram. There are lower end cards like the Geforce 9500gt which have 1gb and support the right pixelshaders but the GPU is just not that powerful.

I'm running the demo version on a 2GB 460, and it can totally handle it. To be fair, though, it seems to be locked at 1024x768, but it looks like everything's turned up. If I can find a way to up the res, I'll try it maxed out. The card can most definitely handle it.

i always get frame drop in very high settings. i dunno why, in high its basically like high with no aa and very high basically high to with like x16aa. So i decided to go to high setting, but i override using nvidia control panel to give some aa (x2) and the result is amazing
@AndreiManX I got win xp, i downloaded the game for pc, extracted but when i tried to run it, there is a following note: this application failed to start because d3dx9_42.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. I have XP service pack 2, intel dual core (two 1,6 = 3,2) processor. If you could help me on this one that would be great! Thanks
