Kyuss, Qotsa, the Desert Sessions, and now this.There's alot of hate on Era Vulgaris, but I'd say that it's a magnificent album. I don't think there's a queens song that I can't get into, although I really don't find myself listening to Songs for the Deaf alot. He's bloody brilliant. The great thing about Jones and Plant is that Post Zeppelin they have been trying to do different things that stray away from the Zeppelin sound. Whereas, Page has been pretty stagnant and more or less content is rehashing the Zeppelin sound or pushing for a Zeppelin reunion.

Page is in a unique position as a guitarist. His personal style and taste have been emulated so much as to make the Zep sound almost a cliche`.If he sounds like himself , people are going to say he is clinging to the Zep legacy ,(admittedly he has been "dormant " for a long time.) .His style of playing rock music really set the tone for so many future bands ,he is bound to sound like he is doing the same done-to-death riffs,when he is just playing like Jimmy.

In Zeppelin, they were always experimenting: reggae, funk, country, indian, arabic etc. I thought he would extend that type of experimentation into his solo ventures. Coverdale/ Pae- while a good project was a rehash of the past, black crowes was also repetition.

His Page and Plant days featured a lot of experimentation that got overlooked for the reinventions of existing Zeppelin songs. Their material was very folky and influenced by Morocco and Egypt.

ok, each member in this band is pretty god damned legit, you might not like qotsa that much foo grohl fans, but they did and are still doing their own thing which is always respectable. Nirvana, really don't know how you can go wrong, not my favorite band either, but they were what they were and were much needed for modern guitar driven music. I'm glad no one has tried to to get in Zeppelin's way here, don't really know how you could argue against their pure rock n roll bliss.

Dave didnt continue it with the Foo's after Nirvana died...and there is only so much grunge you can put out before people start balking on it.
