If Homme took a shit and recorded the audio, I'd probably listen to it. Kyuss, Qotsa, the Desert Sessions, and now this. There's alot of hate on Era Vulgaris, but I'd say that it's a magnificent album. I don't think there's a queens song that I can't get into, although I really don't find myself listening to Songs for the Deaf alot. He's bloody brilliant. I know it probably sounds like I'd love to take it from behind with him, but hey. Dudes got talent.
I agree with everything you said. Except for the part where you said you don't listen to one of the greatest rock albums of all time. Two key elements of TCV contributed/made that album. You're probably a blow hard. Don't even bothering commenting back I DGAF what your pretentious ass loving mouth has to say. Gutten NOch.
I never said it wasn't a great album, I said I don't find myself listening to it alot. Why? Because it's been overplayed in my group of friends. How the fuck am I pretentious? Shut the fuck up, jackass.
Are you meaning to tell me that there is no talent among Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), David Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters, countless other appearances), and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin, also conductor and composer)?
If those are not talented musicians, then I must ask, who is?
couldn't agree more...dave was the only on in nirvana who played something, jonesy is jonesy and josh is a quite good singer but heavy guitarrist, has a good style...what else could we ask for?
i respect your opinion and i do agree that everithing Josh Homme does is golden, but i think that Era Vulgaris was a really good album, yeah its a little dark and diferent compare to their other albums,at first i did not like the album etheir, but then it grew on me and it got better each time i listen to it
i bet your one of those Kyuss fans that cant accept that Kyuss is OVER!,so you hate on everything he's done after Kyuss because you want Kyuss back, but im sorry to tell that a Kyuss reunion will never happen!
It hurts me kyuss split up but i think great things came from it..Slow burn, Mondo Generator, Brant Bjork and the operators and QOTSA are all fucking shit hot...I know there are about 15 others but bollocks to listing them all.
The great thing about Jones and Plant is that Post Zeppelin they have been trying to do different things that stray away from the Zeppelin sound. Whereas, Page has been pretty stagnant and more or less content is rehashing the Zeppelin sound or pushing for a Zeppelin reunion.
Page is in a unique position as a guitarist. His personal style and taste have been emulated so much as to make the Zep sound almost a cliche`.If he sounds like himself , people are going to say he is clinging to the Zep legacy ,(admittedly he has been "dormant " for a long time.) .His style of playing rock music really set the tone for so many future bands ,he is bound to sound like he is doing the same done-to-death riffs, when he is just playing like Jimmy.
1DancesWithBeagles you make a valid point. I guess as a fan of Page's I'm just a little disapointed he hasn't tried to do some different things. In Zeppelin, they were always experimenting: reggae, funk, country, indian, arabic etc. I thought he would extend that type of experimentation into his solo ventures. Coverdale/ Pae- while a good project was a rehash of the past, black crowes was also repetition.
His Page and Plant days featured a lot of experimentation that got overlooked for the reinventions of existing Zeppelin songs. Their material was very folky and influenced by Morocco and Egypt.
Trust me people, these guy's rock the fuckin planet! I watched them at leeds fest and its nothing i've ever seen or heard before!...................get involed!
i just saw these guys at Leeds festival. and as u can expect. Dave G, Josh H, and John P J, all put on an amazing show including a 10 minuet jam solo thing, was mental!
It was totally worth it being totally soked by the rain for trying to get in the marquee of pukkelpop. They were awesome. They might sound alot like QOTSA but still they are amazing!
I saw em on pukkelpop this weekend, and they were insane.
If they had played any longer, I'm sure some heads would've exploded because of the awesomeness of the thing. Josh is better then ever, John Paul Jones kills everything in sight with fiery basslines and Dave has never drummed as good as he did on this gig. Fuck any band alive, THIS IS THE SHIT
Nee, ik zat in het publiek tegen de dranghekken. En hij stond plots langs mij en ook hij zag dat het goed was. I gave him my thumbs up en hij was content. :p
this will destroy that horse shit "sooper groop " chickenfoot ". John Paul Jones is directly responsible for some of the best rock songs ever recorded.
Oh, I agree. Josh, Dave and JPJ are the perfect three. My question of band members was from some previous response that I shouldnt have even bothered with. I cant wait t hear these guys!
ok, each member in this band is pretty god damned legit, you might not like qotsa that much foo grohl fans, but they did and are still doing their own thing which is always respectable. Nirvana, really don't know how you can go wrong, not my favorite band either, but they were what they were and were much needed for modern guitar driven music. I'm glad no one has tried to to get in Zeppelin's way here, don't really know how you could argue against their pure rock n roll bliss.
Homme was in Kyuss, and any group of Dave Grohl's (that includes Nirvana) will never be as brilliant as Kyuss. (You fanboys will kill me for this, but in my opinion, Nirvana aint that special)
Like you say, it's just an opinion. In my opinion, Kyuss and QOTSA were both pretty good bands, that's about it... absolutely nowhere near as "special" as Nirvana. In fact, I'm still slightly disappointed it's Josh Homme who Grohl chose to front TCV... but I won't let that ruin it for me.
You have to admit Dave chose Josh for a reason. Nirvana and QOTSA are both great bands, but were in a different direction. Dave didnt continue it with the Foo's after Nirvana died...and there is only so much grunge you can put out before people start balking on it. Homme is much more than 33% of the Vultures I assure you. I would like to know who you think would be a better fit than Josh?
I can't wait to hear it - but I'm growing skeptical. I get just leaking tiny bits to pique interest, but this is too tiny. How about a song, a chorus, or at least a verse. Makes me wonder - it's either crazy good or it turned out bad and they want to cash in on the hype. I so hope it's the former and not the latter. Come on Vultures, give us a just a taste more!
uh who cares about foo fighters, dave grohl played drums in this band called nirvana... and hes playing drums on this. josh on fuckin guitar, john paul jones on bass, dave grohl on drums. its fucking amazing. even just dave grohl and john paul jones, what a fucking amazing combo.
Queens of the Foo Zeppelin! Or Zeppelin of the Foo Fighters in the Stone Age, or The Zeppelins of the Queen's Foo Figthers, or Foo Zeppelin of the Stone Age, or Stoned Zeppelins of the Queen Age fighting Foo's!!!
haha i like the last one, it has its own story line haha.. amazing how 14 seconds can sound so amazing.. as i'm listening.. i'm just like.. dang the groove sounds like LedZep., but the guitar is uniquely Queens, and just the overall punch and tightness of the whole groove reminds me of foo fighters.. this really sounds good.. i hope this album is great. these three people have such complimentary flavors so far in their sound.
haha that's a pretty wicked name too, they should really try combining/mixing their names haha.. but Them Crooked Vultures is a bad ass name too.. this is good because i never got used to the "Foo Fighters" name haha, it just reminds me of the monkeys on the first green day album throwing thier poop around. i bought their cds at the same time back in the day.
"Foo Fighters" are actually unknown objects seen by radars in US War Airplanes (I think), and that's were they got their name from xD Yeah I can't wait for the new album too, sounds kickass!!
