  • so simple, so true and so clear. This song has always been with me on my journey. It is at once sad, uplifting, spiritual and cleansing. He has lived his life as this song, contributing to so many causes and to me a hero and trumpeter of what mankind could be. Unheralded man of peace.

  • I love you Jackson Browne - always have and always will! You by far are my Christmas present forever! I even got to touch your tennis shoe in Greensboro, NC Oops I meant Raleigh!!!!! I sing with you forever!!!

  • This song brought to me to my knees as a ballerina and I want this song to be played in my head until I pass! I'm having a difficult time without my loved ones passing away, so I just dance all by myself. For Jackson Browne really saves me every day! Alone and far away and still able to dance releives me and I will always keep a fire! Brilliant and how many folks he saves!!! I love you Jackson Browne!1 Always have and always will Saturate before using and then some! My hero!!1

  • This is such a beautiful live version of a song of songs.

My dad and my ex ( plus! a dog, a cat, a horse,an uncle) left this crazy planet over the past year :(

This song speaks to my heart

  • You are so right, is there anyone who can have us all listening to his songs over and over, getting more meaning each time? Its him, he is so genius and you are so right. I have seen him 3 times and hope and pray he comes to Evansville to our new Ford Center. its so nice there, but I heard he likes smaller venues...I will hope anyway...

  • you were always dancing in and out of view...i must of thought you'd always be around... always keeping things real by playing the clown....now your nowhere to be found....for John Lennon 30 yrs gone that long ago

  • OppPaul: I used to think it was about his 1st wife too until I checked the years. I've often wondered who the song was written about nonetheless.

  • @goodfoot1971 The song was written about a friend of his who died in a fire...

  • Awesome!

  • he wrote this after his wife Phyllis committed suicide in 76'. this song has a lot of meaning, because my best friend was murdered in 77', she told me about Jackson Browne and this song. I still cry, this is for you Erin, still miss you....

  • @uscgvet90 Sorry...but this song was released in 1973...it could not

have been written about a 1976 suicide.

  • I'm by no means an emotional person; nor do I cry easily- but this is one of those songs that always gets me. I think it's the honesty and wisdom of Jackson's lyrics. Yet, as hard as it is to think about death and remember those who have passed on; Browne is once again right 'there's nothing you can do about it anyway" and you have to think of it optimistically 'keep right in dancing"-live and love life now and keep right on dancing into heaven or thru whatever you believe comes next .

  • Hauntingly Beautiful

  • Wow, Jackson and David, they are so sympatico, they must share music DNA. Thanks for all the years of wonderful, soulful, heartfelt music. By the way, is there a stringed instrument that Lindley can't master?!?

  • beautiful and moving

  • i'm sorry but i feel this song is for the living, and how we should stay in touch

    and give love

  • om ............like this man and many others I lost my spouse to the suicide desease.

This song is an at least for me early practice of cognitive therapy............ all the more poignant that this video is from when grief was fresh..............thank you Mr. Browne.

  • Rest in Peace Steve Jobs .

  • This song is dedicated to my mother who died 4 years ago this month. I have not nor ever will I get over her death. She was one of a kind. This song is what my broken heart is saying but can't. I miss u Mama - until we meet again..I will never stop looking for you.

  • 15 quite obviously deranged people. If you don't like JB, why punish yourself by coming hear to watch and listen to him in the first place? Insanity!

  • Written 25 years before September 11th, 2001... I think it is a great way to remember those that lost their lives on that day.

  • @MediaAceStar This was released 27 years before 9/11/01 as

part of Jackson Browne's "masterpeice" album Late for the sky.

    But your close enough :)

  • Mark Sibley died last week, suddenly, at the age of 46. He was heavily involved in junior football in Bristol, and today 20 lads of 16 and 17 years of age attended his funeral, and paid their respects.

In the light of the recent riots, I just wanted to register my admiration for the support, and love, they have shown to the Sibley family, and everyone involved in a very difficult day; mark would have very proud.

I can't imagine that many of you boys will read this post; if you do, THANK YOU.

  • My dad died 3 years ago and we were so close like soul mates. I haven't been able to move on. Last week my uncle (my dads brother) was dying and I left the hospital and this song came on. He died a few hours later. Me and my dad always loved Jackson Brown n went to several of his concerts together. I think my daddy played this song for me to help me heal which it has done.

  • @78533jrwa Your Dad will meet up with you somewhere. I'm no preacher but look for him in the little things. He'll find a way to connect with you. He's watching out for you. oh . . and keep listening to Jackson Browne.

  • @78533jrwa I can relate to losing a father. My dad died 10 years ago on September 8, 2001. He LOVED this song since I was a little kid. They played it at his funeral. Whenever I hear it I remember the good things about him. Seeing him play this on the computer or stereo. I will never forget him.

  • @78533jrwa

God bless and keep you and yours. I lost a dad, mother, sister, and last month a 39 yr old son. Dance on.

  • @78533jrwa ive lost my mum recently who love Jackson Brown, i feel when i listen to his music i some how connect with her spirit, she was a true fighter, her sole was so pure, some one to truly miss in life, i feel she speaks to me in spirit through his music which means everything to me right now

  • This song helped me begin to heal when my friend Heidi passed away 2years ago. We always laughed together and had the best of times together.

  • Have to say his collection of songs on "Late for the Sky" is tops lyrically on my chart for singer songwriters ... he continually found a mystical almost magical way of telling a story or asking questions or expressing emotions ... I have given away to CD to countless friends and strangers alike hoping it will mean 1/2 as much to them as it has to me over the 35 years or so since I discovered it ...

  • What is there that is as good and as moving as this song and this version?

  • There are few contemporaries of Jackson Browne as a songwriter. This is a masterpiece.

  • Thank you God for this wonderful artist he is one of the wonders of the world FOREVER to be discovered for generations to come timeless beauty.

  • beautiful in every aspect

  • Hop on over to my channel to see HD close-up video of Jackson Browne's "secret" intimate show this past week. He played all the old favorites. :)

  • an underappreciated song and songwriter....he is near the top of my list..

  • This song has a little about every emotion we experience in life

Life and death, hope and sadness...love

  • i dedicate this song to my late parents, and to my equally beloved dog max (deceased), all three from cancer..and to all those who had lost someone dear. God Bless Jackson Browne for so giving us so many great songs, every piece memorable, classic and touches all of us one way or another.

  • how sad, just read the piece on Christina Taylor Green, some things in life are so hard to understand.im sure shes dancing in heaven...............

  • I love this song. I always come back to it.....it's hauntingly beautiful.

  • I don't know why things are the way they are. Maybe when we get to heaven Our Father will explain it all. I have faith that it will all make sense. Pastor Mark

  • Beautiful poetry from one of the all-time greats...

Remembering Mick Tyrrell... another class act!

  • Does anyone has the lyrics?

  • @sofiasirianou .., Hit the "show more" line. Diagonal to the share squre.

  • thinking of you Jeffrey & what could've been,,,,thanking God love never dies

  • i listened to this song again and again when my mom died several years ago, the tears didn't stop...still missing her...thank you jb for all your wonderful great songs, your songs touch us all in some way or another...we love you, jackson browne!

  • we played this song at our son's funeral in 2002 still weep when I hear it.... my boy loved to dance.....

  • I've listened and loved this song for years...

...not realizing I would be hearing it "live" Monday (May 16th) evening at the Mahalia Jackson theater in N.O. (2 days after what would have been her 87th birthday). She passed away Feb. 11 this year and i cried many tears of joy at the show knowing I was able to share and be part of this dear and wonderful woman's life!

Thank you Jackson for your beautiful songs and heartfelt emotions!

If you've lost a loved one, find comfort in this song...

  • I have been listening to this song for 30 years and now I cry every time I hear this song since my mom died last year. It is such a great and fitting song for her. JB....Thanks for all your great songs over the years.

    Suzanne

Saw JB in 1978 at Cuesta College at a Diablo Canyon protect rally and also in SB county Bowl back then.

  • Still miss you, Dad.

  • this song captures the essense of how we feel when people die. Jackson has always captured the emotions of people in songs. He is a musical lyrical genius.

  • @cinirae Jackson Browne is a genius and a gifted songwriter. This song is so amazing. In an age of BS bravdo and the same old fake marketing, JB has written songs that bring tears and yet inspire us to reach for more. He is my hero. JO

  • I'm inspired to learn this song for Open Mic night.

  • fantasticly touching, jackson is a brilliant artist..this one makes me cry..yet also makes me sing...just great!!

  • don't put stupid jokes on here - this is jackson's goodbye to his wiife that killed herself

  • @juliekstroup OK i now realize it's a goodbye to his friend but still

  • stunning track

  • stunning

  • I have to agree with the fan in Montreal who kept screaming we love you Jackson.....

  • Can't underestimate how much the whole "LATE FOR THE SKY" album was in all our lives when it came out. There was a campus radio station that gave away "Let the Music Keep Your Spirits High" bumper stickers--I saw those still up in placesfor DECADES . SO many things had happened in everybody's life so fast back then--good thinmgs, but some genuinely sad things, and also some very bad things--Nixon, Vietnam, meaningless deaths of people you knew. "After the Deluge" was on target too!

  • @xanther97 Jackson Browne has been against nuclear anything since the mid 70's. Sadly he called Chernobyl as well as the Japan nuclear tragedies while writing Before the Deluge.

  • @xanther97 .."late for the sky"..was,is an epic compilation..very deep, sublime and profound..some peoples music really touches our souls..jackson is one of these special people.god bless him!...wish i had one of those bumper stickers now..id proudly adorn my vehicle with it!!..sooo many changes over the years..really makes me sad sometimes..thank god we have such good music.life may not be worth all the trouble without it!!

  • Love the way he spins his tales of life...encouraging words for us ..To go to one of his shows is healing..

  • go on and make a joyful sound ;)

  • Until the Dance becomes our very own.

  • Thankyou queenbeatles

  • @mamabon1075 you're welcome. I first learned it from the wonderful youtube user

"ClydeJB" so all credit goes to him for showing me the info

  • Thumbs up episkopi08!

  • Used to listen to this album with my girlfriend and a bottle of plonk in my bedroom in 1975. Now its 2011 my girlfriend is my wife and I still enjoy the music and the plonk.

  • @episkopi08 That's a beautiful story! Congratulations!

  • @mamabon1075 Thanks for your comments.I,m opening a bottle of German white in your honour tonight. Is it me, or have the past 35 years flown by.

  • @episkopi08 I was 25. Then I blinked! lol

  • Big fan of Jackson Browne since 71/72 seen him 12 odd times in Britain and in Spain, I do some of his songs when I gig. Always gets a good reaction whether people already know the songs or are hearing them for the first time.

  • @QueenBeatlesWings

Thanks for the clarification, I'd never heard that before.

  • What a beautiful and moving song.

  • This was written for all of us to adopt for ourselves to be played at our funerals. It will be at mine.! "In the end there is one dance you'll do alone."

  • My dad raised me on Jackson Browne and James Taylor, love going to see him every time he comes here and listen to him pretty much every day at some point, almost 21 now and i don't know many (if any) my age who've even heard of him, shame, I plan to pass it on though ♥

  • @PraxidikeFairy I found Jackson Browne about a year ago im 22 now and i cant get enough of him im going to pass him down to my kids when i have them as well, he needs to live on through the years to come. He is my second favorite artist only behind Bob Dylan.

  • @sparky513599

That's so sweet...I feel the same way about Jackson, but unfortunately my three kids say, "Mom, not again..." He's on ALL the time in the kitchen and in the car, and of course, I am always dancing to this song. Favorite, most beautiful song ever writeen...I love it and love him for his beautifl soul. ~Dorina

  • yeah he lost his wife, tough call,he still brings tears to my eyes,34 years now, david linley was born to play with jackson!!!!

  • im 25 now when i was growing up my dad raised me on jackson browne i love his music. My dad had a heart attack last year and every time I hear a jackson browne song it makes me think of him. He is a great songwriter.

  • This song gave me solace after a friend died too young. Love you Steve. Thanks Jackson.

  • Esther freak, Its nice to know people you age are appreciating his work. He was a big influence to me growing up in the 70's, I'm 53.

  • Check out Sky Blue and Black...another JB classic!!!

  • NO ONE does this song better than Jackson. No One!

  • Its sad that no one can make music like this anymore, new bands are just people playing cool sounds and mumbling lyrics.

  • @PDXland37 umm How old are you like 32, Shut the fuck up and go watchespn and stop watching Justin bieber

  • One of the very best ever.....Singer, Songwriter, Performer...this is one of my favorites from a long list of great songs by him. Thank you for the post.

  • The new song writers need to go away.

  • @PDXland37

    disagree...

some song writers today are pretty good...obviously not in this sort of league, but pretty decent.

the problem today is that record companys pick the music, and they pick their artists based on background, rather than ability. look up what pete waterman says about it on google.

He practically admits to get a recording contract now you have to be from a very nice neighbourhood, AND have a good university degree...

Thank the politically correct people, its a consequence

    //news(DOT)bbc(DOT)co(DOT)uk/today/hi/today/newsid_9373000/9373158.stm

    pop gone posh?

  • @c64c64c64 okay your just mad because you have bieber fever and you need to not be a bitch.

  • @PDXland37 justin bieber is less of a bitch than you, and he hasn't even grown a set of testicles yet

  • 35 years later and this song still moves me to tears, every time.

  • RIP Hannah. Taken from this world far too soon at age 11 at the hand of someone who you trusted and loved so much. I hope heaven is all they say it is for you and then some baby girl. I love you and i miss you more than you could possibly ever imagine. Save me a spot up there yeah? Cos it was never goodbye, its just cya later. My little dancer in heaven.

  • His words and music got me through many hard times. His word have touched my very heart and soul. Words just don't come any better! He has read my soul many amny times!

  • His words and music got me through many hard times. His word have touched my very heart and soul.

  • This is my favorite song by him His words are encouraging reminding us how easy it is to be a better person.

  • its as if the tragedy in his life moved him to write words that touched me after a tragedy in my life. he is unique and defies labels. lucky enough to have seen him live and will never forget it

  • Jackson can write a pretty love song when he lets his political side take a break, as for me I consider myself to be fortunate, because i like both of his creative sides! Long Live Jackson Browne!

  • BEAUTIFUL....HE IS TRULY AWESOME IN SONG AND SOUL......

  • The twelve people who dislike this don't get it! ..they have no soul.....

  • I loved jackson for 40 years now. and miss Dan Fogelberg so much......

  • Anybody that can watch this performance and not be mesmerized does not know music. This is MUSIC. This is an ARTIST!

  • JB, Dan Fogelberg and James Taylor are my generations greatest singer/songwriters. Fagen/Becker ain't bad either! I can listen all day long...

  • Christina Taylor Green, 9 years old, was an A-student and an avid dancer, swimmer and gymnast. She wanted to be the first woman to play baseball in the Major Leagues. born 9-11-01; died 1-8-11, in the assassination attempt on Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords ... Christina's funeral is happening right now at a Catholic church in Tucson, AZ / I dedicate this song by Jackson Browne to her.

  • @47cardinal God Bless Christina Taylor Green. May the Lord have mercy on her soul.

  • @47cardinal Jackson Browne recently played a benefit;memorial concert in Tucson, AZ to promote peace and understading in the world and help prevent future violence. Jackson Browne and many other of his friends, many well known musicians played songs- including Jackson Browne (For a Patriot, Golden slumbers), CSN, Alice Cooper, Jen Warnes, Keb Mo, and others. Jackson organized the event and got musicians to come- in spite of being from another state and as exactly rich and famous as many others

  • @47cardinal

You will surely see her again in Heaven, my friend.

  • This is tragic no woman should have to bury a child. May God bless and send comfort and solace to all who morn such a great spirit of this amazing child.

I also dedicated this song to my son Zach who was killed by a drunk driver 5/18/08

and my husband John who died from cancer in the same month and day this year.

  • @SuzzyStohelit This is beautiful. My sincere condolences for your son Zach and your husband John. Thank you for sharing your love for your family. May your memories of your wonderful son and husband keep your soul warm when it is chilled and their remembered smiles keep your joy alive in life. Peace to you, Sara M

  • @CelticSara when I read your comment my spirit was lifted and comforted. Surely, the souls that have gone to be at peace will never be forgotten as long as there are people such as you in the world...thank you Sara

  • @47cardinal i cant even find words for my sorrow..............im crying right now for the first time in 15 years

  • i am in love with this song .. and with my girlfriend. I LOVE YOU "Mo Anam Cara" ... and i miss you badly ... my heart weeps :(

  • Whether this song was written for the death of his wife or the death of a friend it is still the most moving song ever written.I challenge anyone not to be moved to tears

  • @dooniebob1 The song "For A Dancer" is about Scotty Runyon. He was a very talented friend of Jackson's who was killed in a fire in the fall of 1973. Dancing was just one of his many accomplishments. Jackson attended the funeral just days before his son Ethan Zane Browne was born

  • @dooniebob1 You are right...I listen to this song all the time...I cry everytime!!!

  • at such a young age, one of the best singer songwriters ever only cat stevens compares

  • pure genious. his best work ( and that's saying alot!)

  • This video was sent to me- out of the blue no less only three days before my son Zach was killed by a drunk Driver - it has become my Mantra

  • this song was written about the death of Browne's first wife who just couldn't handle the world and committed suicide. Browne felt it for a long time afterward as seen whenever he played live, you could see the sadness he bore

  • @4FabBEATLES This song was written in 1973...his 1st wife Phyliss Major

    committed suicide in 1976.

  • @4FabBEATLES Thanks for the background on Jacksons life

I read but this is something I didn't know. The world can be a cruel place for some. My son was 20 when he was killed by a DD. He didn't send me this song he was a "Tragically Hip kid" so I think someone out there is psychic.

  • @SuzzyStohelit wow, that's so sad, sorry for your loss. I agree that sometimes music seems to explain exactly what you're thinking or feeling. Jackson has written many songs about friends and fellow musician of his who have all died before their time, whether important people like Lowell George, his first wife who committed suicide, or friends like this dancer friend in "for a Dancer', Jackson's music makes it just a little easier to bear

  • @4FabBEATLES You have great insight, intelligence and compassion. Checked out your channel...it's a gem and

thanks for the reply it helped....now off to sub~peace!

  • THANKS nutbrook! This song will bring anyone to tears such a powerful mix of lyrics and poetry.

  • I love the way Jackson fans describe him almost as I love him and his work.....HE IS AMAZING! As are his fans!

  • Jackson is such a wonderful man- very kind and caring with beautiful music. a true musician and activist, not just faking it for fame and fortune

  • A timeless masterpiece, this song gives me comfort this evening as I find myself part of a college community in northwest Pennsylvania which is mourning the tragic, horrible death of a beautiful young dancer murdered and taken from her family and friends at the tender young age of 20. Be in Peace, Jenni Lyn--this prayerful song is for you and for all of us.

  • Browne and Lindely together are amazing tye compliment eachother so well

  • love this song . big time

  • For all of you people who think this was written for his wife,

    Phyliss Major, who commited suicide.

It was written in 1973 as part of the Late for the Sky album.

She commited suicide in March 1976 at age 30.

So you see, that would be impossible...

  • @OppPaul agree!'

however sometimes music can be prophetic..timelesss!

  • @OppPaul Late For The Sky is my favorite album of ALL TIME !! That is saying a lot.

  • @tornadoray1 I think it is my favorite album of ALL TIME also.

  • This song is so touching, so sad, it makes me tear up every time

  • Why is it so often the BBC that has had to save so many fine performances for posterity? America, come on, get it together!

  • I believe this was influenced by his wife having committed suicide just before this album.

  • a beautiful man- music heart and soul and that levely browne hair

  • No one can match Jackson Browne as a Singer, Songwriter and Activist.

He has been my Idol since 1970 and I have never heard even one song of

his that I don't love. He has been the soundtrack to my life. This is one of his

very best. I think he may have written it for his first wife?

  • @ElunedDdedwydd - Actually he wrote this song about a very good friend of his who died in a house fire, not his first wife. His quote about this can be found online. Beautiful song.

  • @ElunedDdedwydd sorry, but no. this was written and released before his 1st wife committed suicide. this song is actually about a friend of Jackson's who among other things, was a talented dancer. The man died in a fire when he was in the Sauna of his house and didn't know there was a fire until too late sadly. )-: I believe the man's name may have been Adam- the same on "Song for Adam" was written about on Jackson's first album.

  • @QueenBeatlesWings Who was his first wife again?

  • @mamabon1075 his first wife was Phyllis Major. "Here Co Phyllis committed suicide in 1976, when her and Jackson's son Ethan Zane was about 3 years old. The song "Here Come Those Tears Again" was cowritten with Nancy Farnsworth, the mother of Phyllis (Jackson's first wife), but now you see why it is impossible for this song to have been written for his first wife, as she wasn't dead yet. He did write a song about their marriage and their son Ethan, but not memorial songs.

  • Scotty Runyon was a very talented friend of Jackson's who was killed in a fire in the fall of 1973. Jackson attended the funeral just days before his son Ethan was born. Dancing was just one of his many accomplishments "For a Dancer" is about this man, remembering him. Jackson says so himself on one version of his he plays live.

  • @ElunedDdedwydd while I don't share your enthusiasm, and there are many other singer/songwriters that I would put right WITH Jackson, I don't think there are any that are BETTER necessarily. This song is just beautiful in every way. I'm not one that gets choked up or cries easily, but this song comes close every time I hear it.

  • Everyone gets emotional listening to these lyrics...because they

were written by god...no human, not even Jackson browne could

    have come up with them.

  • @OppPaul Typical narrow mined thinking... asshole.

  • I went to my very first concert in 1977....it was Jackson Browne in Sydney at the Hordern Pavilion, with Joan Baez....I will never forget that night, and now I'm showing off my teenage heart-throb to my own teenage kids...wow....this song and all Jackson's songs are timeless....precious and timeless. Thank you for the invention of youtube and for all who have posted my favourites.

  • @salwadorer So true! High 5. Saw JB in Champaign, IL with Karla Bonoff when she released her first LP. Check it out. You'll really like her stuff from 1977. I just got the cd to replace my LP. I'm too happy about it. I listen to it alllllll the time. Maybe compulsive, but I know what I like and what the good music is all about. Enjoy!

  • For a Dancer and "For Everyman" are both about as good as a songwriter can ever hope to do. He really set a standard a long time ago that's hard to match.

  • I want this played at my funeral!! I believe Jackson is the Poet L. of our time!! Don't let the uncertainty turn you around!!

  • I want this played at my funeral!! I believe Jackson is the Poet L. of our time!!

  • he wrote this song when he was in his early 20's about his 19year old wife (mother of his now grown son) who committed suicide.

  • @gtar4lifemom Jackson Browne was 28 when his 1st wife Phyliss Major

commited suicide...by the way she was not 19 but 30 years old.

Further, how could he write a song for a March 1976 suicide if this

song was released as part of the Late for the Sky album of 1974?? LOL

  • Submitted for your replies: Who do you think was a better songwriter, Jackson or Zevon? I know it is kinda' like comparing apples and oranges, but I am sorta curious as far as style is concerned. I took my dad to see Jackson Browne on the 24th of Sept. in Detroit. It was more than a little spooky being the only 25 year old in the whole joint, but he played everything I wanted to hear and more, and I still have a buzz from that show. Jackson, you kick fucking ass.

  • Suberb! Brings back the memories, friends and loves, present and gone. Love them all!

    Thank You, JB!!!

  • Browne and Lindley are true musicians, they love music and have remained friends through all these years, even after Lindley left for a while to try his own thing, he always returned. Neither of them are famous, Browne isn't apreciated for always trying to raise awarenss about worldy problems like pollution or people doing awful things, but he keeps on trying, that;s true musicianship.

  • I cry EVERY time I hear this song...Jackson is my Jesus....he walks on water

  • When I last saw JB at the Albert Hall here in London, he played acoustic and asked which songs we wanted to hear! The whole congregation knew every word! Such a gathering of peace & love.

  • I was one of those faithful fans since the 70's. I'm a young 54 now and still his words move me. Never so more than now, today the 11 month since I lost my husband suddenly. The pain flows through these words.

  • I was one of those faithful fans since the 70's. I'm a young 54 now and still his words move me. Never so more than now, today the 11 month since I lost my husband suddenly. The pain flows through these words.

  • One of the most beautiful and poignant pieces of music. Ever. By anyone.

I simply cannot imagine my life without the music of Jackson Browne in it; more than I could possible describe here, he has helped me to endure a cancer diagnosis and has gotten my teenage daughter through some very difficult challenges.

  • The comments left by the people affected by this song tell the story. Wow, wow, wow, very powerful and moving.

  • As a Springsteen fan I cant agree with " the greatest songwriter " tag but Jackson has always been right up amongst the best in my view ever since as a boy I was very ill and his music soothed my soul and gave me a great sense of peace and tranquility, this song DOES have some of the greatest lines ever written , particularly the last two lines which are so profound as to be almost unbearably sublime. • He is the greatest songwriter we have. Profound is the only word that even comes close. Especially his early work like this song. He saw it even then from such an early perspective. Lightyears beyond us. Thanks for opening that door for us, Jackson. His lyrics are more profound (there's that word again), than any church service I've ever attended. Amen!
