Inner peace, A light inside of her, that shines brightly, and no one can take that away from her, no matter how hard they try to bring her down, insult her, make her feel bad about herself, she loves herself regardless. It is an inspiring song.

Mariah has always been a singer who sings exactly like the recording whens he sings live. she does every little flutter, every run, every transition from head voice/chest voice.. unlike christina, beyonce, whitney, who do whatever coems to mind during a performance, mariah is a perfectionist, and is VERY practiced, and prepared, so she ends up singing almostj ust like the recording. just the way she likes to sing.

@davidbaker03 That's totally untrue, she used to always changed her songs during the year of her career when she was at her peak and wasn't lipsyncing. Now she lipsync so much, and some people think that "she like to sing exactly like on the recording" because it is the studio version, it is impossible to sing the exact same thing with the exact same vocals when it's truly live, there's always someting that will change a little.

@theoneandonly2503 no. I know many trained musicians. I have been around classical singers, gospel, music theatre etc. If you practice something enough, you can perform it almost exactly the same every time.

Mariah is WELL trained. One of the only among pop singers. Her mom was a professional opera singer, and I'm sure she instilled a sense of practicing into Mariah, unlike most pop singers who only improvise. Her vocals are VERY thought out, and prepared, not at all made up on the spot.

But a run like that, which is obviously hard, and intentional, I am SURE she practiced that to death, and nailed in perfectly during MOST performances. You can agree, or disagree, but either way it is very possible. (PS, yes obviously her voice has diminished with age, as does everyones)

@davidbaker03 And if you ear closely at her performances,you can clearly hear the difference between her live parts (who most of the time are a little strained)and the next few seconds, her voice is flawless,brilliant,absolutely not human..Come On, that doesn't make any sense.If her voice sounds flawless on her highest belts,it should be flawless in all her range.I'm not saying she can't sing,her mediums and low notes are still great and she can belt to C5 beautifully, but the rest is so lipsync

I think she probably didn't practice most of the rest of it, and half-assed it during the performance, because, yes her voice was strained, and she probably wanted to save her voice for the climax, instead of giving it her all for the entire performance. EIther way who cares, but I am just saying I am more than sure she could do it, even under strain. Its not like that part sounds perfect anyway, it sounds raspy and a bit strained too, so who knows.

@davidbaker03 I don't think practice has anything to do with that's not as if Mariah was an amateur who needed to practice her songs,her voice has a certain condition and it's not logical at all to sound crystal clear on her belts and to sound very different and tired on the rest of her performance.The only explanation is that she lipsync her belts. @theoneandonly2503 I am sorry, but we will not agree. I do not mean to insult you, but your comments lead me to think you are not a musician yourself. Practice has everything to do with it. I know very well about over practicing hard parts, and under practicing "easy" parts, which then leads you to perform the hard part perfectly, and screw up the easy parts. It is very possible that mariah is not lip syncing, and I don't know why you are so insistent on it not being possible. You do not know.

EVERYONE who is a musician has to practice, unless they are an extremely poor musician. you obviously are not a performer yourself, or you would know that.

@davidbaker03 I am :)And I'm not Mariah.But practicing a song has nothin to do with her vocal condition,being able to produce the exact same powerful/crystal clear belt 20 times in 20 different concertsnot even the same year and sounding tired and very different in the rest of the song is not logical at all,that has nothing to do with practicing a song.Sounding good in every part has nothing to do with "practicing" a song, when your voice is here,it is here,doesnt depend which part you practiced

I also believe Mariah lost her voice because she didn't practice anymore her instrument after her divorce to Tommy, who forced her to take numerous singing lessons. Working your voice is important by doing exercises everyday, but repeating a song has nothing to do with her vocal condition. Have a nice day.

@theoneandonly2503 One more thing. I never said that she, or any other amazing vocalist has NEVER lip synced. I am sure they all have at some point. Either way, it is very possible to perform nearly perfectly, and the same as the recording.

@davidbaker03 That's where you are wrong, sounding exactly like on the recording each time is absolutly IMPOSSIBLE, there will always be somthing changing, the quality of the note, the vibrato, the power => That's a true live performance, if a singer sounds EXACTLY like on the records, especially in extreme notes, that is for sure lipsyncing. Mariah truly been a lipsync abuser since her voice diminished in 1997, that is to say a long time ago. The belts are always lipsync.

@theoneandonly2503 She doesn´t sound exactly like the record, plus during the 30s women get at their best (vocally) so it´s only natural her voice here sounds great! I agree that her voice in 96 was more flexible, but don´t forget Mariah hit her first A5 during the 2000s and her belting became more powerful, and she has sung some of the most difficult songs during this period, the belts are not lip sync, the final F might be questionable but once again she´s hit several G5 and A5 live then so...
