....just kidding! keep up the great tracks!

  • They were all together in Mad Dogs and Englishmen. What talent came out of that group and they all hit it big....great music and great musicians.

  • I found out about this song through FORENSIC FILES. The murderer kept singing along to these words on the Jukebox at the bar, knowing that the bartender knew what he had done. . (only she and he knew..that he was the murderer!) Great tune though

  • @darglor69 Google, Delaney and Bonnie and Friends Only You Know and I Know. Listen to their version too, you will love it. Delaney and Bonnie were very good friends with Dave, infact he joined them for a week or two in England when they were there. So did George Harrison. You'll see when you Google DB&F's.

  • @darglor69

Do you remember the name of the episode on Forensic Files?

  • @darglor69 I am watching that show right now!

  • Does anyone know who was playing that jazzy guitar? I've heard something almost identical elsewhere and I've always wondered it was the same person. TIA.

  • @singmedavid It's either Dave Mason or Delaney Bramlett.

  • @zbestwun2001 Thank you!

  • @singmedavid Thanks for listening/watching what few vids that YouTube has left on this channel.

    Sf

  • Radio Station& have no ta$te.

    ..and payola doe$'t exi$t.

  • @zbestwun2001 For sure...how else do you explain the fact that they play the same songs over and over on most radio stations?? ♥♥

  • @NYChica23 PAYOLA... I WAS BEING SARCASTIC WHEN I SAID IT DIDN'T EXIST.

  • For years I assumed that this was a national top-40 single. I later learned that WMEX, a struggling AM top-40 Boston station that only came in along the coast, had taken to mixing in a few "album tracks" in hopes of boosting their ratings. Had I not been vacationing off the coast of Main in 1970, I might never have heard this.

  • Love this!

  • @AhhWerdd Who doesn't?

  • how could i not react!

  • @Jolly1238 you have to :)

  • im a musician i cut my teeth on this track ,great to hear this old stuff...thank you

  • @100rag22x30 Then you must have loved 'Delaney and Bonnie & Friends' also?

  • @zbestwun2001 ....yeah, sure as fuck did...there version was great

  • @100rag22x30 I work with his widow and worked with D on his last CD in '08 doing the promotion.. "A New Kind Of Blues"..

  • @zbestwun2001 wow, i bet you had tons of fun with that project, bless his widow,,,,yeah,Dave had mind blowing chops when he decided to let em' go

  • @100rag22x30 It was looking to be a great year... we had a great CD that was killing in the reviews. In July Delaney had Gall Bladder Surgery that did not go well. We had to stop working and just concentrate on Delaney's health. The rest of the year suck big time, not only did Delaney pass away 27 Dec 08, I lost another dear musician friend in Oct. '08.

  • @100rag22x30 a lot of people did... and on Delaney Bramlett too, RIP my friends.

  • The guitar jam could probably go on forever and ever in concert :)

  • @alworkedup ...and it probably did.

  • @alworkedup ...and it probably did.

  • Thanks for sharing! I sometimes forget how completely listenable Dave Mason is.....

  • @spacedoginnebraska Dave is a trouper... he's still out there touring a lot.. He was good friends with Delaney Bramlett who I worked for up until his death in '08.

  • zbestwun2001 can you upload "Just a song"?

  • @dfsiemon I don't think I have it, sorry.

  • Badfinger played a great cover of this song on many of their concerts. They really jam on the guitars and I think they do a wonderful job. Check it out if you can track down a bootleg.

  • I always listen eagerly for the drummer's one strike on the open high-hat ( after 2:44 ).

  • @MrGb1965 That's Jim Gordon... part of Delaney and Bonnie's Troupe.

  • @zbestwun2001

    Thank you.

  • your're entirely welcome. I love Dave Mason

  • thank you very much

  • @pandasue1 Thanks for visiting my channel...

  • Back in the day, I went thru two copies of this album. Each song was as good or better than the one before, and I played the hell out of it, wearing them both out. I even had (ready?) an 8 track cassette for my old '60 VW bus. I still listen to this song as often as I can.

  • Picked up this record for a dollar because I really liked the album cover, and I am pretty impressed with the music. Serendipitous. :)

  • @easilywow Plus have you ever seen a LP with those colors.....?

  • Dave did this on "The Midnight Special." I wish that someone would some day upload that.

  • WELCOME TO DAVE MASON 、フィーリン・オールライト!

  • A great song made more interesting by it being featured on an episode of Forensic Files on TruTV. Still a great classic hardly ever played on mainstream FM stations anymore. Unless one owns the record or has access to YouTube uploads, (s)he would have to subscribe to Sirius, XM, Music Choice or other satellite or cable music service to hear this and other great lost classics nowadays.

  • @gorickard319582010

yeah that was the one where the dude was drinking the galliano. lol i saw that one the other night.

  • Loved this back in 77. Love it now. It goes in my Get Energized playlist.

  • @EmpressOfWyoming58 Some songs just never get old, they just get BETTER!

  • I think I would have liked this song if I never found out about it from watching an episode of Forensic Files. The way that killer was looking at that bartender while singing this song was VERY creepy.

  • they played this song on the tv show forensic files

  • @2112Metal That one was just on a few hours ago. A guy in the military killed a woman with a Galiano bottle, right?

  • @JasonL77 Yep, I just watched it myself! The name of the episode was "message in a bottle".

  • @ejthomp99 I'll bet that bartender will never listen to this song the same way again.

  • @JasonL77 yup thats the one

  • hah Guys I seriously feel lonely right now anyone wanna chitchat

  • DAMN!!!!! I love this friggin song!!!!

  • Only You Know And I Know - Dave Mason [Worcester, England] - 1970 - "AMG Pick. ...the grammatically questionable Delaney and Bonnie-d roots chug of 'Only You Know and I Know' (produced by Tommy Li Puma and featuring the likes of Leon Russell, Rita Coolidge, and fellow gridlocker Jim Capaldi);..." - Alone Together [Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs Gold CD, Original Recording Remastered]-1993. NOTE: The MoFi version is the BEST sounding version!

  • @mikekadas "grammatically questionable ", but definitely not "MUSICALLY QUESTIONABLE"

  • @zbestwun2001 grammar don't count in music...For God's sake, Howie Kaylan of The Turtles threw the words et cetera (etc.) in his song "Elenore"...

  • @mikekadas So right!

  • This kinda sounds like Listen to the Music by the Doobie brothers

  • i heard this song for the first time in 1973 ON ACID and went like 'what'??? I felt I was walking thru this song as it was playing, man. What an awesome feeling

  • @purplesage53 That's fanstatic :)

  • Dave Mason's Alone Together is 1 of the BEST albums ever put out!

  • Now this is my kind of music.

  • @BBQFanNo1 good taste bro!!!

  • Oh, yeah, this is a great recording - thanks!

  • I am 39 and I love this tune! Always remember hearing it when I was 4 and 5 years old.

  • @DRpretorius39 God you just made me feel ancient

  • @DRpretorius39 OK.. now please take the knife out of my back... I now feel ancient... *S*

  • Clapton playing lead guitar.

  • @unclegroovedaddy I'm not sure about that.

  • Dave's playing sounds like eric's

  • @steve999m They are running very closer since the 60s, when the lead guitar took a place into the music, the crew that suported dave on this album its amazing, all of them very close to eric, all of them have the sound and those days style, my best regards

  • @steve999m I don't think Eric's on this LP.. don't under estimate the skills of Dave Mason.

  • @zbestwun2001 So true Steve!

  • NICE VIDEO!

  • @wuz10 Thanks, took 2 years to make.

  • there was a song that i really loved, but i can"t rember the name of it! how bad is that!

  • @0520bitch join the crowd....

  • I'd give my left nut to play guitar like that.

  • @jx14aby be careful what you wish for...

  • Thanks for it :*

    I love this song! :)

  • Wow, the drums are sure mixed high on this.

  • @alshouse I'm wondering if that's Jim Gordon.

  • @alshouse might just be my .mp3..

  • Had original multi-colored vinyl...funky!

  • Love Dave!!!

  • @louiseduvee I told them!

  • LMFAO!

  • Well, this answered one of my 'prayers'! Thank You!

    Glad you all love it!!!!

  • @mystro810 Can you believe people complain about this great video.. hey, I work with I have here to work with... I think it's good.. thanks for the compliment.

  • what a fine tune

  • devonvenoit you're an idiot! if you were a guitar player you would just by hearing that lead that its not duane! that mason.............

  • great album...

    that's dave on lead....super fine!

  • Some of the very best of the Era, awesome riffs and rockin' Live on! Thx to the posters who have revitalized this Art!

  • Absolutely on of the BEST LP's of that Era.

The music I grew up on from the era I grew up in. I would never trade the '60's for anything. You had to be there to appreciate it.

  • Thank you, this is one of those songs I can't live without and haven't heard in 20 years!

  • @louiseduvee jus told Autoshare ta "go fish!"

  • @louiseduvee Very few women seem to have the well rounded musical taste as you reflect on your channel.A to Z. AMERICA to ZAPPA. Pleasantly surprised.

  • @louiseduvee I don't want to be perdantic but you lived for 20 years without it! :)

  • @eastmidlands but is life without "Only You Know" really LIVING?

  • @eastmidlands Then don't be pedantic...the word is sarcastic, actually.

  • @louiseduvee Well, it's probably both

  • anyone know if thats duane allman playiugn pretty sure is becuase he was doing work wih clapton and delaney and bonney at this point

  • I don't think so.

  • oyu people are too young. This was Dave Mason AND DELANEY & BONNY who were unltra hip but totaltty hated the commercial thing so mason's label stole it and marketed it. Where are the old hippies that n=know the score?

  • Dave is still touring.

  • @UptheIRA1 and I am still working with Magnolia Gold Records, Delaney Bramlett's label.

  • this whole album is just the shiznite

  • funny how no pics makes no damn difference to good music.....

  • Ain't that the truth!

  • get 'em psyched with some beer, wine, grass and take advantage!

  • love catching this old school stuff and flashing back on sex with 20 yr old women! Ahhh youth!

  • This is the 1st song from Dave Mason's Alone Together album. This is the only vinyl record I kept from my late stepfather.

Instead of black, this record looks like it was made out of swirls of tan, brown, and black. I wonder how much I can get for it.

  • Yes, it's a marble type of vinyl, you will not get rich off this album, I have it also in mint condition.

They pressed a lot of these and that drags the price down.

  • let me know 'cause I still got mine

  • Rock evolution did exist from Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Elvis etc...all the way until "YES"...& it went downhill from there..

LOVE this stuff & so did Clapton, going for truly getting into American Music Roots

  • How did we go from this to American Idol?Shouldn't it be the other way around? So much for evolution.

  • I loved this tune back when -'69 or '70 ..it's got everything needed for a great rock tune....the drummer tore it up .

  • @jbjumpback Jim CAPALDI BELIEVE

  • Well at least they removed the Lightfoot pic..However, Gordon Lightfoot is awesome as well!!! WOO HOO, yeah baby!

  • Nope Gordon is still there!

  • Dave Mason did this the best! We all have our opinions--this is mine!!!!!!!!!

  • c o f u s e d

  • Whatever, it's all good.

  • YIPPER DO! IT's ALL AWESOME!!!

  • I'm confused. This is Dave Mason singing, says it's Delaney and Bonnie, and there's a picture of Gordon Lightfoot? Huh?

  • radioreporter...Yeah, it says Delanay and Bonnie but its Dave Mason....go figure. But I'm still looking to find a way to "get it my own way without having it get me some day" My life's conquest?

  • What do you mean I can't go on trying to get it my own way...its going to get me some day?

Damn. I wish I'd known that a long time ago.

  • If anyone ever posts the version of this by Delaney & Bonnie and Friends with Eric Clapton from the "History of Eric Clapton" LP, let me know. It was a great version and I can't find it anywhere.

  • there isnt any yet but im always looking I looked for 3 years for clear light and finaly it arrived dave mason taught george harrison to play slide guitar

  • Dave Mason didn't teach George how to play the slide guitar, that was Delaney.

  • @BThwaithe I think that is on the new box set on Rhino .."Delaney and Bonnie and Friends/ w Eric Clapton on Tour.

  • @BThwaithe Eric's not in this lineup .. but here is the song you wanted... this is the YouTube file #.. ITvFtpDmHzw

  • @BThwaithe i used to own an original copy of the thing, yes clapton does a quick solo through it, not a grandiose one, but hey cut him some slack, the guy had a heroin habit about eight meters tall "layla" is where he shines ,that record is a classic....i wish i had those records again, Delaney&Bonnie, and layla .."history of"...thats an old one, keep looking around at goodwill stores you may find it, hang on to it like a bitch

  • Delaney Bonnie and Friends are better with Eric Clapton and Bonnie Bramlett.

  • Live in Croydon Hall

  • pity the lack of video, kudos the song, we love Dave Mason, don't we? this is one song that truly ranks as a gem, me and my baby, only she and I know

  • The best album Mason ever did. This album and his stuff with Traffic are timeless.

  • Absolutely right. His 1st and best solo album,"Alone Together" was originally issued on grey-ish vinyl and included a "pop-up" album cover.

  • Rainbow colored vinyl, always wanted one. Still do....

  • Got one packed away..

    peace

  • TRIPPS/ PEOPLE & STUFF, PLACES & THINGS OUT When we Gotta Sacrifice A VIDEO Due To Court FighTIN'!! Da Blank Screen Monster of Money, Done ATE OUR VIDEO-UP AGAIN!! Oh Well, A SUPERIOR Audio is Enjoyed The General PUBLIC. Anyways!

  • sure is, from the "Alone Together" album. Certainly a classic.

  • Why is Gordon Lightfoot's picture shown at the intro? This version is being done by Dave Mason

  • And the title says Delaney and Bonnie
