  • I still love this thing

  • OMG the parking brake just like WOOOOOOOWW!!

  • I wish you could do a 635

  • the engine on the 1983-1994 BMW 3 Series

    Engine

    I4, 1.6 - 1.8 L (66 - 100 kW)

    I6, 2.0 - 2.7 L (92 - 126 kW)

  • Great video man. just bought the same car today.

  • Wow, that car has had better days..... and better drivers... -_-

  • Also, it is a BMW, not a Honda... no need to floor the gas at startup.. HAHA. seriously though, hitting the gas prob created a rich situation so the ECM compensated and cut the gas off, thinking the car was already warm, but it was a cold start on a cold day. If it were a manual tran with a full spare tire and a recent timing belt, I would pay 3500 for it.

  • Couple of quick things.. Yes, the valves were making a ton of noise.. if properly adjusted.. I bet it would be fine. The check engine, was only to let you know to check your guages... the wiper fluid was low.. tap the check button, and it will go off.Lastly, these BMW circuits were run on lthium batteries that need to be changed (soldered in board), and if you don't, your mileage would be incorrect. usually by half, once the battery goes bad. SOoo, I would estimate, that this car has 150-60K mi.

  • watch?v=iPClBZNnlGw yeah!

  • If you don't mind me asking, how much did it sell for?

  • Made my day! Love that car. Awesome vid!!

  • Still a beautiful car

  • :)

  • sexy car. treat her nice

  • by the way that engine sounds i think it's got more miles on it that it shows..

  • Kyle, maybe that BMW died all the time because it almost had no fuel? Look at the fuel gauge at 1:10.

  • @maserati315 Could be, but that could also be a broken fuel gauge. A known issue with E30's :(

  • Didnt show the best bit! the car with the top down... man... seriously XD

  • @postmortemspasm Hahaha that's because it didn't work X)

  • I have an 89 325i with 246k on it and it still runs/ looks great, these old BMWs will really last a lifetime. glad you finally got a video of a bmw on here also lol

  • i love these classic BMW's too bad the owner was a dick and ruined it my mum had a 325i 2 door

  • I would like put a German license plate in front in it.

  • The previous owner thrashed that poor thing!

    DAMN!

  • 168hp? EU version have 171hp ... but chek this out example e34 525i M50 US have i think 186hp and EU have 192hp . i dont understand why i that diferents .. sry by bad eng. cheers

  • @miloskujovic that difference is usually the air intake because the US has stricter emissions regulations. and also the e35 525i m50 is dohc while the e30's used sohc's correct me if im wrong.

  • @oilplumber123 ok that but e34 M50 engine for us have 186 and Eu have 192hp e30 have m20 engine 12valve m50 24valve :)

  • @miloskujovic thats what i said dohc is 24 valve and sohc is 12 valve!!! but This video didnt do this car justice. i have an 88 and shes beautiful and runs like a horse.

  • Man I feel sorry for this car, its in terrible shape ! I had the same wheel on my e30 with 250 000km's and it was in better shape.

  • Kyle, whoever owned that BMW before it was bought to the dealership was really rough on it, never even maintaining it. Repairs back in 1988 were more expensive than the repairs that are to be taken care of now.

  • The 325 was on TopGear last night in the UK :) three of them

  • @RossFxx I was just gonna say that :)

  • @mrjost55 I was too lol

  • the BMW 320 1983-1994 was assembled in Leipzig, Germany Munich, Germany Regensburg, Germany Toluca, Mexico Rosslyn, South Africa Cairo, Egypt Kaliningrad, Russia Shenyang, China Chennai, India Jakarta, Indonesia 6th of October City, Egypt Tehran, Iran Selangor, Malaysi
  • Although I do prefer Mercedes 150% +, I love 325 Bmws. The ones from 92-95 have the most beautiful original exhaust sound i ever heard. If you find one, Kyle, please do a video. PLUS, if you can, drive it. The sound is AMAZING!

    Greetings.

  • A true gentleman will lay his jacket down for the good of all viewers.

  • the noise is just the muffler bearing :)

  • Nice. I have a 1986 318 as a project car. That rattling noise may be some loose belts. If i heard right the idle was not smooth(lowers and the rises again) that may be because of camshaft and valves. Some BMW engines velves should be adjusted every year. My old 735iA engine broke down because previous owner did not do that.

  • that car is beat, but it's 23 years old. I always liked the gauge clusters in these older BMWs.

  • Looks like you farted at 1:59 when pulling the handbrake

  • a few noises? It sounds like theres a midget in there whacking a chain link fence with a baseball bat

  • POS

  • Are those cracks on the top of the dash?

  • @Xboxlivemgear Unfortunately, yes. This car was literally driven into the ground. The owner just drove it without maintenance until it wouldn't even start and run anymore. 116K miles is nothing for these cars. Sad.

  • @thatBMWkid

That plus I'm thinking the cracks may have been caused by a wreck or maybe a side impact that hasn't been repaired well which would also explain things like the check engine light flashing which means critical instead of normal maintenance.

  • The check engine light is flashing thats not good when it flashes

  • Gotta love the sound of a BMW straight-six! Sounds like a bearing in the engine or something is going out.

  • i actually test drove that exact car, it's at all city in indian trail. that noise bothered me, so i didn't get it

  • :'( So sad to see an abused Beemer

  • Beauty! Now how about a 1st gen M3?

  • this car is so '80s yuppie I'm surprised there isnt cocaine residue on the dashboard.

  • @cyberboy855 Or some mummified Wilson tennis rackets in the back seats.

  • @cyberboy855 lol wtf

  • @cyberboy855 is that your interpretation of the 80's?

you need to learn some history bro.

  • @stopscrewingaround11 You clearly have no sense of humor. Maybe if YOU knew some history, you would know that cocaine exploded in popularity in the '80s.

  • @stopscrewingaround11 Wow, you're clearly a moron....

  • @neinfun no, not really.

  • @cyberboy855 They probably weren't able to get a reservation at Dorsia.

  • @cyberboy855 I heard the previous owner was part of that whole Yale thing.

  • hooptie!

  • why didn't you show how the top works?

  • @NadrianATRS The top doesn't work.

  • 1988-2003 best BMW designs! New ones are so ugly!

  • aw,poor thing

  • It's crazy that this car is having these problems with only 116k miles, must be owner abuse. With it being a BMW it probably would cost more to repair than the car is worth.

  • @datboiwes333 Oh yeah, you're right about that

  • @datboiwes333 it did look low on gas.

  • @datboiwes333

True, I have the 1987 model of same car, 180k m not a sign of a problem (other than standard where and tare) I am highly disappointed in the owner.

  • @datboiwes333 Yeah, it kind of ends up being a mechanic's special. Parts for these cars are widely available and pretty averagely priced. If you're willing to work on your car (and this one's easy) then it may just be a deal.

  • Man those us-bumbers are ugly. Euro version FTW.

  • @BEEMERFAN79 The US spec cars have always had the chrome bumpers, same with the old Mercs, I can't remember what they look like, I'll have to look it up

  • @saabkyle04 no u dont understand why the man mean he dont say why chrome he mean why so bigg and ugly read on google e30 EU ;) cheers

  • @saabkyle04 MY 88 or 89-93 had plastic bumpers.

  • i would love to see this car restored

  • The new BMWs look like Hondas >.<

  • @saabkyle04 didn't you do this car already?

  • @PS2Gameplays No, I never re upload videos

  • @saabkyle04 hey kyle, ive been searching for an m5 on your channel but didnt find anthing so i figured you didnt make one yet..or am i wrong? the new channels are kinda confusing idk if when i search it searches all of your vids or sonly the ones that are on the first page ..

  • these bumpers sucks x)

  • So you are going to do old cars more than new ones?

  • @Audi123000 no, not always

  • @saabkyle04 I will say that your videos are awesome and i really like to watch them so keep up the good work mate

  • @saabkyle04 oldies have more personality ... and toughness

  • Nooooo a Bimmer w/o an armrest. i love the old bimers, but an armrest is a must

  • super nice bimmer

  • I love old BMW's. They have a timeless quality of excellent build quality, luxury, and comfort. The new ones are nice, but they just have something missing.

  • Used to have 1984 E30 318i 4door saloon.. Miss that car :/

  • I like how revving the engine makes the gas mileage gauge go up.

  • I know that this is a neglected car, still I could hardly believe that the owner let the fuel dip so low. It is a typical penny-wise and pound-foolish behaviour. It strains the fuel pump, while it struggles to suck up fuel from the bottom of the tank which may well have a lot of dirt in it.. This can result in -at the minimum- a clogged fuel filter, but can start other problems as well. If you value 10 bucks more than your car, than you better donate it away, or dispose of it.

  • @wotan20 Really?

Well I never let my fuel go to E but maybe a few little notches above it before i fill up. But I usually fill up at a quarter of a tank.

  • @TJC450 You do well sir, specially if it's an older model like this, which is liable to have rust and what not at the bottom. Also fuel injected vehicles need to maintain significantly higher fuel pressure than the older carburator ones, otherwise all sorts of problems may start up.

  • @wotan20 oh well i had to replace the fuel pump a few months ago so its got a new one now :D

  • Good car in it's day but old BMW's are known for they're horrible reliability. That thing does not sound healthy at all lol.

  • @braydenmartindale old bmw's are pretty reliable and especially those models. The owner has just let it go into the bad shape it is in today.

  • At 7:37 on the rear side panel it looks like the inside door handle but upside down, what is it for?

  • u mean 2.7 liter not 2.5 liter

  • These cars are very rare now, which makes this video very cool!!!! This car is definitely in need of some major work, but it's still a very cool car!!!!

  • Sounds like the timing tensioner is going out.

  • cause im thinking thats what the serious case of white smoke out the exhaust is

  • @luckyace1111 i reakon its just a little steam that happens when you dont start a car for a while. Though im not a genius i might be wrong :)

  • @yanni6556 @luckyace1111 hot exhaust + cold day = condensation.

  • is that thing burning coolant?!

  • HEY IF YOU HAVE TIME COULD YOU DO A VIDEO OF A 2011 MUSTANG BECAUSE ALL YOU HAVE ARE GT MUSTANGS

  • Flashing engine light. Night gut

  • Yes! E30!!! <3 saabkyle04

  • dam wat was the second song good song anyone know?

  • sounds like a thrown rod maybe?

  • thanks kyle for the video, one of my favorite cars!

  • Hey Kyle Can You Make A Video of a 1987 Monte Carlo SS?

  • @jdmeg313 He already did a video on a white one, same year too

  • The Check light may be on because the washer fluid is low as the light indicated. Once you hit the brake pedal the Check light would go out, unless it was some other problem. Also I am suprised it has an auto top. My parents had an early 87 325i Conv and it was a manual top, super easy to put down, no need for the power top, just more to break later on.

Engine noise was a little weird, maybe a bearing failing in the water pump, did not sound like engine main bearing noise to me.

  • Not to bad of a little car. Anyone else find it weird that BMW and jeep basically had the same speedometers in the late 80's - early 90's

  • wow that thing has been beat to death... 100k miles and the engine runs like that?lol?

  • out of gas, but that check engine light was blinking, not solid, meaning a major problem, am i rite?

  • My friend has this car! but its an 89. the inside of the windsheild ices up when it gets cold, the glovebox is busted out, its dirty and he treats it like shit, but its still a lot of fun to run around in and I love it. :) He used to park it in drive and hold the key forward after the car already started, and I had to teach him not to do that :/ Idk how he got his lisence. But that car will never quit, I swear. It has spirit, lol.

  • Deserves better that car does, hopefully it will be repaired and given a new lease on life.

  • I feel bad for it... :( poor beamer.

  • poor thing sounds so bad

  • Old BMW's FTW! The new ones are ugly

  • @mitchman2100 true but the e46 m3 isnt to bad its pretty sexy

  • shes out of gas i looked and its on E

  • If the car was in fully working order, I would say that it would be such a grand car.

  • I think interior wise, the car is in great shape, minus the rip in the seat. Don't see too many used cars that old with decent leather or clean carpets.

  • My very first car back when I was 16 was an '88 535i. Best. Car. Ever. Late 80's Beamers are the best!

  • aw man, poor old bimmer looks like the old gal's about to shit the bed

  • she could be out of gas, that beamer sounds tired

  • that beamer is decent shape

  • great kyle!!

  • Seriously I'd restore one of these in this condition if I could get one cheap enough, but that 4-speed auto has no place in that car.

  • es como el de Bruce Willis en moonlighting...

  • What a POS! I'll bet the add-ons (remote entry, radio) are worth more than the car!

  • I own the exact same car i love these cars!

  • sounds like it has a misfire

  • this car is not all that bad. All it needs is some mechanical/ body work and your all set. Maybe some detailing.

  • Well the check engine light is flashing.

  • Haha I love the ignorance of some of the people commenting. "BMW dies" "BMW sucks", well the car isn't in the best of shape. ANY car will start to go downhill if it isn't maintained mechanically or cosmetically.

  • when you start a bmw it dies but when you start a jaoanese car of this ame age it sound like new

  • @g37muflih C'mon dude actually read what your saying... and learn how to spell a little bit better. and all cars break down eventually just gotta maintain it, just that Honda's, Toyota's and Nissan's are just built to last a nuclear blast.

  • i dont know about 1988 but obd-I and II vehicles, a flashing check engine light means a misfire.

  • it was sounding like it was about to die, and you are revving it like that?? haha, Im surprised it hadnt dropped its guts during the review, that Bimmer is in a saaad sad condition

  • wow, they've kept the same style speedometer, odometer, etc, for at least 18 or so years ahha

  • how do you get snow to melt?

  • hey kyle can u do a review on a pontiac g6 convertible plz!

  • maybe it just needs gas ?

  • @naterade21 There is enough gas, the display showed it having a range of 61 miles to go.

  • This car is ready for the wreckers. One look at that exhaust clip says waaaaaaaaaaaaaay toooooo much by the color of the smoke coming out the tailpipe. Yank the stereo and scrap the car.

  • If the top worked would it be fully automatic?

  • @jonwilliams16 Yes it would, it has a boot cover that automatically comes up if I remember correctly

  • lol what a piece, love those cars though

  • i use to have a bmw 325xi 2006. woooooooooooooooooo was it fast u might think it is a slow car and that. I went 155mph racing a 08 jetta. I WON! ^0^

  • Haha, I guess it is okay that it died a couple times since it is an 88'. My 91' suburban dies a couple times before it starts to run smoothly. Haha nice review, Kyle! And, Thumbs up!

  • @wheely132 Well, it is cold as hell, and it has the appearance that it had been siting for some time, so it does make sense : ).

  • @23AClark Yep it certainly does :)

  • Kyle, what do you think about old automatic transmissions? In my case, I don't like it very much because they are easy to broke, and expensive to fix. Do you prefer manual transmisson? I think it is a lot better.

  • @26muca07 Easy to broke?

  • @Maine684 My bad man, I mean "they're easy to break".

  • @26muca07 Lol i know

  • The quality doesn't matter!!!!!

  • that brings back memories, I learned to drive on an old 328i with a 5 speed stick. I love old BMWs, I'm not a huge fan of the new ones though, the old ones have so much character. This one seems like it could use a little love though

  • Convertible without the top down...what has this world come to?

  • @awesomerandomninja I would have except it didn't work lol, I don't do things for a reason

  • @saabkyle04 That's what I was guessing, but since nothing was said in the video, I couldn't tell.

  • @saabkyle04 kyle be honest and say that in iterms of quality, fit and finish, realiability and value which cars are better german engineered ones or japanese engineered ones i am asking this because i cant experience these cars in real because i am from srilanka

  • @awesomerandomninja In the winter? Dude.

  • i think it needs gas lol

  • flashing check engine light....

  • where do you get these cars?

  • @Someoneyoudontknow13 He just reviews them for dealer ships and our viewing pleasure. Also for people that are considering getting a new car. He doesn't own all of those cars.

  • 240p FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • is this video still processing?
