prsfrank, you are right in the sense that both are using a variation of Travis-style finger-picking, but Chet Atkins plucks the strings in the sequence: 6-4-5-4-6-4 etc... for the bass, whereas Tommy Emmanuel seems to be playing more of a moving bass-line. But thats just how I hear it ;]
I've seen him live and met him. This is REAL!!! He is a true virtuoso of the instrument. He comes form the Chet Atkins school of 'multi-part style'. And he's a humble gentleman also. So rare these days.

I though the same, until I found the tab and actually began learning it. The trick is to figure out exactly in what order the notes go, but once you memorise that, playing it becomes quite easy. Of course, playing as dynamically as Emmanuel does, with vibratos and improvised parts, is very difficult. There's a video on Youtube of him teaching this, you should try to find it.

Day Tripper is insane, I couldnt even imagine trying to play to different rhythms at the same time! Hats off to the greatest!

I though the same, until I found the tab and actually began learning it. The trick is to figure out exactly in what order the notes go, but once you memorise that, playing it becomes quite easy. Of course, playing as dynamically as Emmanuel does, with vibratos and improvised parts, is very difficult. There's a video on Youtube of him teaching this, you should try to find it.
