Interesting facts though about number 4; the Cybermen archive file on the Second Doctor is really from “The Wheel in Space” not “Tomb of the Cybermen”. TOTC was lost at the time until its rediscovery in Hong Kong in the 1990s.

The encounter with the Fourth Doctor occurred in the 28 Century, yet Earthshock is set in the 26 Century.

i've really got to see this episode, looks really interesting. i can't help noticing thaat the cybermen in this period of classic DW sound a lot like darth vader. especially when the cyberleader goes "excellent!" ( i think that's from silver nemesis, not sure...)

I saw Earthshock today and I must say it's one of my favorite Cybermen storys ever and my 2nd favorite Peter Davison story (First is so obvious) and in my top 10 favorite Dr who storys ever and out of all the departing storys in Dr who Earthshock is my favorite (definitely better than Army of Ghosts/Doomsday and The Stolen Earth/Journey's End) but I must say MrTARDISreviews if you love this story so much then why wasn't it in your top 10 best Dr who storys list?

i remeber watching this on a videotape my uncle gave to me. it was recorded of the telly, so it didnt have a cover, and all it said on the cover was ""Earthshock" that my uncle had written. i just watched it, and when the cybermen were on it i was very surprised, as i hadnt really seen any cybermen episodes. still the dvd cover spoils the story

I have to admit Earthshock, was once my all time fave Cyberstory, until I saw Tomb of the Cybermen then I changed my mind now Tomb is my all time fave Cyberstory. I found the Cybermen in Tomb more menacing and their voices were much flatter, ane more electronic in tone when they speak.I also like Moonbase, Tenth Planet, Wheel In Space and the Invasion these are all classic Cybermen stories they are all fun and I prefer them to the colour Cyberstories in many ways.

This is my all time fave story. Saw it on first broadcast when I was a school kid, I was crazy about Cybermen and was reading all the Target books of Tenth Planet, Moonbase and Tomb of the Cybermen and then this Earthshock was sprung upon us all...it just totally blew my mind and I became a Davison fan for all time as well. A stunning story...almost impossible to explain how powerful it was at the time to people now because there was no DVD or net back then.

@straker2 Earthshock was an ace Cybermen story, in billions of ways and the way Adric dies is so effective in billions of ways and Adrics demise is more memorable and has a greater impact on viewers than Gans demise in Blake's seven in pressure point and Adric was more vulnerable than Gan.

i didn't see too much of the peter davison episodes at the time - odd as i was a young kid when he was the doctor, i seemed to end up watching colin baker and mccoy more - but i like the 1st, creepy episode where people are going missing in the dark. And the ending was great - tragic yet giving adric a proper and noble send off. And there was no cop-out or 'bringing him back to life' either...

Not a fan im afraid, the only good cybermen stories are in the 60's: Tomb, Invasion. In fact those are the only two good cybermen stories! Unless you count Pandorica opens that is. I think the less a cyberman speaks the more menacing it becomes. For example "My army awakes, Doctorrrrrr!" was truly awful.
