I used to run a rig in out in morrisstown. hell of a place. Once a mexican threw a cotter pin into my intake manifold, and by god that things worked through the carburetor and seized up the combustion chamber. beat the shit outta that mexican. name was raul gonzalez. came from mcallen. dark feller. didn't speak english.
your making a hole going into the pile because you have your bucket open to much, big waste of time by messing around trying to level the load out and your not getting full buckets..your FIRED
I used to run a 980G for an outfit in Colorado,we did production dirt hauls, bossman would swamp me with bellys and enddumps,,,,this truck after truck after truck,,if you do get a break,,,you workin up a loose pile,,,digin out of a stock pile that was put up with scrapers,,,,sometimes half a bucket is all you get,,,thats why I would start 2 hours before the trucks showed up and get up top and shove me off a jag,,,at least the first coupla rounds i was tearin them mofos up,beep beepget the fuck on
Years ago i worked at a landscaper, i had to move a burnpile from the open to a hole dug in the bush. With that many sand, stumps and sticks in the pile, the little JCB 3CX couldnt get more than half a mouth full. Tearing up the pile face with the backhoe helped a lot to get full buckets.
they really aren't weak, just oversized with an undersized motor, the one I ran would do over 20 mph with 10-15 logs on the forks, it would just take a mile to get it up to speed.
the 950E I ran went through 3 different motors with the same problem of severely overheating. It would have the temp gauge maxed out within 2 hours of normal operation. All 3 motors eventually would just start drinking 4-5 gallons of oil per 9 hour shift. But, it was put out of its misery one fine day when the pivot pins broke out and it was left broke in half.
when ours overheated it cracked the head. so we replaced the cylinder head and addressed some other issues while we were at it, and it's ran like a champ ever since. Last winter we had to replace the bucket, and the only one we had laying around was off of a 966C. So far it hasn't had any problems handling it
The first 2 motors were just "used" from a Cat junkyard, and the 3rd was a Cat Reman with a brand new radiator and still the same old overheating problem. We would take the side access panels off to try and help keep it cool but that didn't work either.
Well I guess i haven't heard of anybody else having problems. There's another company around here that has a couple 950E's and let me tell you, they are not exactly nice to their equipment. They haven't had any problems from what I've heard. But you never know, you get some that they seem like they'll never die, and some that are just worthless.
looks like the idiot i work with that runs loader high gear and wasteing fuel when he should be getting a full bucket instead of running around like speedy gonzalous
yes there are too many of the hotshot people around they cost time and money ,dont get much done slower is better it looks like it takes longer but you get more done, just like ripping rock the slower the better ,you get more ripped and a dipper rip. i have been doing this for 28 years, parts and fuel or not cheep, you have enough breakdowns as it is with out tearing up more things going too fast,
I'd put an excavtor on that hill top to load out that type of material. A 950 has a 3.5 yd bucket? With those cycle times a pc220 with an oversized bucket could load out more trucks per hour. And burn less fuel.
Hello friends, the land that burden this clay cat is extremely hard to boot, the driver is good, we must also assess the status of the machine that is not too good, is 22000 hours.
Good cycle times but the second swipe to knock the load down wasn't needed. And that time could be used to drag the spoil down in order to get a full bite. Looks like dense dirt and rock which demands a little more attention in order to fill the bucket.
material he is digging into doesn't look hard at all and he should shouldn't jerk the bucket up so quick, that way he can get a bigger dirt load in by applying a little accelerator and slowly wiggling the shuffle up instead of quick burst.

sounds like a 3304 motor, ever have any trouble overheating?? I ran a 950 E with log forks and it was constantly overheated even in wintertime.

We have a 950E with 30,000 hours on it, and it's only overheated once.
