@BL0WY0URMIND LOL,, Yeah do us all a favor CLOWN, find someone else to play with on youtube... Your not riding on Coach Ricks coat tails to get views on your channel, but nice try,,,lol..
This footwork is known as walking them down as well as cutting the ring off! Folks when doing this footwork you never lead with the opposite foot! Thats a golden rule! If u step to ur left u lead with the left foot .Same for the right side as well as the forward foot or back foot! Never cross ur feet unless u r shuffling backwards while circling.
This footwork is known as the joe louis shuffle not the swaghahah walk or the crawl. Its been around for years! The ali side step was around way before ali! It was made famous by jersey Joe! He hit joe louis (and many others)with that foot work. He would turn his back during the foot work like he was pulling his trunks up than drop a Right hand! As for the pivots you never bring your foot back in a straight line also your foot shouldnt be pulled up like that!
Theres always haters coach rick but i watch your videos all the time i think you got the best videos on youtube.Im a young coach from New Zealand and just brought the 1st mitt dvd.My 8yr old son has just started training whats the best advice you could give me for his training and also is it good to teach kids that mayweather padwork?Thank you coach rick your videos are apreciated by many brother.
I love the Ali step, I use it all the time in sparring. I learnt by watching the Pro boxers and them teaching me at my local club. It works well in other martial arts too such as Muay Thai for getting quickly out of the way of low kicks.
I've used this footwork for years although I wasn't aware of the technical names of the footwork movements.I also employ the extra slick tricky unpredictable combat ginga footwork which all by itself gives my opponents fits when they try to catch me but I reach them with ease and minimal energy expenditure.Love the vids Coach keep em jumpin.Plus I love me some JAY-Z and I love that track ON TO THE NEXT ONE.I bumps that..yes BUMPS that...on the regular
@NextTime4U Awesome video! What is the purpose of Ali Stepping vs conventional side stepping?Faster? Also do you feel Ali's footwork style leave you less able to balance yourself if you get hit, it seems like it really goes against conventional footwork.
@xXFocusRecord of course. Fancier doesn't mean better. Perfect exampble winky vs. tito. ifyou notice on that ifght tito was doing the side step all night and as soon as he did that, he was out of balance and wasn't in a position to punch. another example, kostya Tszyu..never had a fancy footwork but always on balance to fire. thats why he beat a faster judah and beat forrest in the olympics.
@xXFocusRecord in addition to that, if a conventional fighter moves to his right side, that is his weak side cuz hes open for the right hand or left hook. If he moves to his left, he gets a head of the opponent and its hard to hit and can set up combos better. Example of that, sugar ray robinson. rare very rare he moved to the right side and does that side step shit
If only you lived in the southern california area. I have been looking for a trainer that can train me in the mayweather style but also in the Cus Damato peek a boo style but, over here it seems that every trainer trains the same way. I do have a question, since I do not have a trainer that does the type of training I look for, is there anyway to do the mitt training on the heavy bag, sort of hitting the same configuration on the bag numerous times????

@monarofreak YES I DO. EVERY WEEKDAY. Ive been doing boxing since i was 10 and im going to enter the next olympics in boxing. So shut your bitch ass mouth fagget.
P.S. Also i can hit 1900 psi if you know what that means bitch.
@Keith6192 funny, considering you have no uploads of your amateur boxing matches on your youtube channel. If you were as decorated of an amatuer as you say you are you'd at least have some video footage on youtube.
Offcourse i know what that means, it means you are full of shit you lying fucking faggot, run along and record your shitty first album which no one will buy.
hey coach rick mad love from all my bhoys who has been watching in sunny Scotland lol, studying and trying to learn ur skills tips and techniques,u make them look effortless but i know there not so keep up the great work big dawg,, Edge gym are u from Scotland ?? if so where abouts bro
Yo Scottish stoner, love the name bud lol. Yeah I stay in Scotland, I have a gym in the west end of Glasgow, if your interested in hooking up let me know. This type of mittwork keeps the boxer interested and sharpens him right up, it defo the future of the sport.
Yo Rick, thanks for the shout out, glad you like the hoodie bro. Anyone interested in learning New style mittwork that stay in the UK, contact me. I've been teaching boxing etc for a long time, and this mittowork is the future of boxing, watch this space lads cause there are new, fresher, up to date trainers coming through, me and Rick are two of them
I enjoy the pad work though sometimes technically sloppy. I'm not mad on this technical breakdown video. The left foot is too angled off. Pointing your left foot like that would mess up the potential of your straight right, slipping left, side stepping etc Side stepping left is done incorrectly. You don't step onto the ball of your left foot but more the side of your foot so you stay in position. Walk off and swagger step are fancy moves that look pretty but put you out of position.
@fadikhawaja Thanks for the comment, the walk off and swagger step are actually crucial to a fighters ability to move, adjust and regain position,, the Cubans have used it for years as well as your fellow coaches and fighters in the UK. I've trained hundreds of fighters including two world champions with this footwork and my padwork and never had a complaint about in ability to slip or being able to deliver a right hand,, but that's what make boxing great different styles and training,, thanks
@NextTime4U Hey coach rick.. wanted to ask if u ehave ever trained fighters who have alrdy started training in europe before? Have you noticed a difference in style?
yeah that was official footwork there .wish you would have thrown in some side step pivots in their so i could see how you rock that foot work is the key good video
@mc10909 Thanks! Btw check out the Adidas Y-3. They claim to be a everyday sneaker but also for boxing. There low top with no ankle support.though,At a price of about 150$ If they give me Ali's feet I might getem HAHA.
