We can trust a jury to tell us when to impose the death penalty, but when it comes to holding the wealthy accountable (punitive damages against large international corporations, doctors with powerful lobbyists, malpractice insurerance companies), juries (and if you think about it, the entire legal system) simply cannot be trusted. The crazy thing about it is, the majority of people vote to silence juries in this fashion.
