The talk about Hitler is ridiculous. Hitler made it easier for german citizens to own firearms, and it was the United States, Britain and France that disarmed the german people after both wars. Todays democratic regimes in Europe have MUCH stricter gun laws than Hitlers Germany had. You didn't even need a permit to buy a rifle in Germany.
Gun-control isn't strictly about taking guns away. I believe in thorough background-checks before selling a gun to someone. If they check out, then fine. If not, they shouldn't have a gun.
@hammerogod I'm not completely or even mostly against the ownership of guns. I think it's unfortunate that real guns exist, but since they do, people need rights to protect themselves from others with guns. The point of my first post is that "gun control" isn't always about banning guns or disarming civilians. There are different levels of gun control.
Entrenched governments become corrupt and scared that they will be "rooted out" by force. So what do they do to eliminate any threat that the people they are trying to subjugate/take advantage of, will "take them out"? They disarm all those who would oppose them.
We have a rogue government right now. Expect to see multiple attempts to try and take our guns!!!!
the statistics for gun violence in America is coming from the GIANT gang wars in NY and L.A and cities all around America they don't really apply to legal gun owners,of course we have a high rate of gun related crimes we have a full blown war going on in the streets guns are imported and sold illegally and used by the estimated 2 million gang members responsible for more then 80% of crimes in communities across the nation,CA and NY have the toughest gun laws and there the places with gun crime
The reason why America became free is because in 1775 is because there was no gap between the arms that the people could own and the tyrants over them.
The difference between the American Farmer and and European Serf is that American Farmers had guns and could not be subdued.
@tina6581 Perhaps you would like to live in Cuba. Castro does not let anyone except his army have guns. He will take good care of you and keep you warm and cozy.
@tsafa1 What you mean the Cuba where a load of citizens all got guns and kicked out an elected government? You really don’t know your history do you mate lol. :-)
@tsafa1 Every government that has ever existed or will ever exist is run by criminals. That is because all people have the capacity for evil. It is your own responsibility to protect yourself. If you ever find yourself, beaten, raped or murdered... do you think you can hold government responsible for not protecting you. They will shrug their shoulder and say "how unfortunate". It is your responsibility to protect yourself.
lol.. all you NRA types .. you "my cold dead hands" ppl all wish for that one day that Obama will turn tyrannical and invade America with his loyalist US Military and you all just cannot wait to finally have a reason to use your assault weapons! But the facts are... you see the 101st coming at you and all you NRA militia ppl will actually do... shit yourselves and drop your weapons.. good thing it's only your fantasy. I support gun control, I write my congressman and I VOTE!
@MrSPAX7 "A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government."
@big4x4mudder He wasn't wrong.. but GW never saw a Tank, an aircraft, an offensive military manuever.... Im saying GW quotes do not have the impression they used to back in the day of muskets, horses and wood burning stoves.
It's all in spirit but in practicality... you dont use guns to change a govt... you use your heads..... and I pity those that think so.
brain power over bullets ...
Protest and survive dude.... its the only way and the ultimate expression of freedom.
@MrSPAX7 We are using our heads but the GW quote still stands true. Do you think in the event of tyranny every person in the millitary is going to stay in and fallow orders? Hell no most would turn their backs and join the rest of us.
@big4x4mudder If you are truly thinking... you would not be using quotes from over 200 years ago. It's time for we the people to start thinking forward... progress is what we need to develop better thinking than something said so long ago. There will never be an event of tyranny. Obama has made the US budget transparent... he (unlike Bush) put both wars on the books and this is what the right wing dont like. The age of tyrants only lives in the fantasy of the NRA this is 2011. Not 1778.
@MrSPAX7 Hey I hope I never have to use my guns for any use other then hunting and target shooting, but I will have them if I need to protect myself or my family.
@big4x4mudder Dude.. you will never have to use your guns for anything but what you mentioned.. Keep your handguns, shotguns hunting rifles... I just want handguns under control and assault weapons banned.
I dont need a gun to protect my family... I will never own a gun because I believe guns are the most useless and needless things ever.
@MrSPAX7 You never know when a gun could save your ass. Just last year my uncle cut a guy off on the freeway by mistake and the guy fallowed my uncle off the freeway to a stop light and then ran up and broke out my uncles drivers side window with a tire lug wrench. My uncle pulled his hand gun and the guy got in his car went over the curb and sped away. The car behind him got his plate number and the guy was arrested. Who knows what he would have done if my uncle had not pulled his gun.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@big4x4mudder oh please... even if the story is true it has nothing to do with my point. I think that if your Uncle had no gun he still is in a car... he knows there is a road rager and you make a turn and call the cops.
you keep moving to protect yourself because YOU DONT NEED GUNS TO SOLVE PROBLEMS and you dont need a gun to save your ass unless you are defending your home and family. Pistols stay inside, shotguns stay inside... BAN ASSAULT WEAPONS NOW!
@MrSPAX7 I should also point out that in 2006 in the UK, where there are really strict gun controll laws, there were 46 gun related murders.
Switzerland, with very lax gun laws, and free assault weapons for a large portion of the population, had only 35.
I'm aware that they are a much smaller country- but the levels of crime in general in the UK were far far higher- the guns arn't the problem ,its the people!
@EvilLamas In America there is a media political machine that makes sure the gun culture, military culture and the blame/hate culture keeps certain sheep mentalities eating up the causes that benefit them. In AZ for example... the AZ prison lobby is responsible for the new Immigration law that allows AZ police to turn in Illegals.. Imagine if teachers got the glorification the soldiers recieve... this country would be far more formidable with smarter kids rather than kids in trouble.
Only the political (control) freaks or uneducated people are against guns, all one has to do is a 10 min resarch online and one will see how gun laws equal more crimes. Guns save far more lives then they take, nobody reports a crime that never happened. If a criminal knows there's a gun in that house he'll think twice about it :). Criminals don't follow law, all gun laws are doing is limiting the defense of the good civilians. I can't depend on the police, they NEVER get there on time.
In my country guns are elegal, so no one who i know does have a gun in their homes. So here only the police has guns(and of course some people with the right papers for a gun). I think i dont need to protect myself. What do you think?
@davidje10 I think on that day you receive a phone call from the police telling you your spouse was killed during a home invasion would drastically change your mind. Countries where firearm ownership is illegal have Major home invasion problems. I guess you could swat at the men entering you home witha broom, while you call the bobby's on your cell phone. A man can rape and murder you MUCH faster than law enforcement can get to you. Feel safe?
@davidje10 After australia banned guns their crime rate doubled. The year after it went up even more. The murder rate and crime rate have gone up in every country that has banned guns or instituted strict gun control. England, Canada ext. Gun control is useless. The criminal do not turn in their guns and are enboldened when they know their victims can not legally fight back. You should get the right papers or whatever in my opinion. The criminals in your country still have guns.
@bigbenusa45, well if you feel good with a gun, that's good. and maybe other people in your country agree. Still I'm glad we cant buy guns so easy here.
@davidje10 I think your country must be more secure and intelligent as a people maybe. Americans are too wrapped up in stupid causes like the useless NRA
I believe that there was one major point missing from the discussion here: Could the citizenry overthrow the government with the weapons assured to it by the Second Amendment? I believe the answer is an emphatic "no." This is not the 1790 and the US government has standing armies, artillery, tanks, and nuclear weapons. During the 20th century we saw many regimes fall but none were because the citizenry was armed. The government simply lost control of the military when they lost their legitimacy.
@KingsorPawn amen bro!!this is the real world and anti gun nuts are seriously trying to disarm us, I mean what fuckin world do they live? criminals break in your home armed and all you have is harsh language and a frying pan...wtf they want to leave us at the mercy of the criminals. look at england a mass shooting even though no one is supposed to have a gun and nobody could defend themselves
That's why the Tyrants are called "The great simplifiers") Yeah!!. I will take care of you if you do what I say. Give up your defenses and give away your life to a group of politicians that has no legal obligations to do what they promised to do. I Now you don't have guns?... but they do!!.. A lot!!! The road of hell is paid with good intentions..
Obama and his panzie, do gooder, pinko, liberal clan think that guns jump up, go boom, and kill people and people have nothing to do with it....Oh course, liberals have no common sence to realize that people kill people...it's NOT the gun's fault !!!!!!!!! TYPICAL MORONS !!!!! Do we take away cars because cars kill people??? Hey, snakes kill people so lets kill all the snakes..."I'm on a roll" Bows and arrows kill people so gotta ban them......and on and on and on...
First of all, if guns kill people, then mine must be broken. Gun control is all hysterics. Common sense and logic does not exist in the anti-gun community. For example, pathetic, unprofessional, and over-emotional groups like the Brady Campaign (YouTube channel: TheGunsDoKillPeople) obviously don't have a clue what they are talking about. So just like this video says straight, "Do Gun Control quacks believe their own lies?" Most definitely.
I heard that somebody (can't remember who) suggested talking to a burglar and asking them why they are in your home!
Years ago , when my mum was a baby , my grandparents house was broken into. Fortunately the burglar ran away before he could harm my gran or mum who ware alone. Aparently if my gran attacked the intruder she would have been charged for assult!
The most dangerous bullets are those called sperm. When sperm is fired into a womb that belongs to an irresponsible idiot, it grows and becomes a menace to society. Make laws that punish these sorry excuses of human beings that are destroying our good world with THEIR irresponsible reproductions, then come and talk to me about banning guns!!!!!!
"Today we need a nation of minute men; citizens who are not only prepared to take up arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as a basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom. The cause of liberty, the cause of American, cannot succeed with any lesser effort."
you forgot to say HITLER spent a lot of time in Swizerland .Funny that. The Swiss have almost as many guns as Americans alot are asult rifles [not alowed to be owed by the public in the usa ] but lets face it Switzerland must be the murder capital of the world .
@dondarkey Actually Switzerland has the lowest murder rate in the world. It's a fact that us gun-rights advocates love to brag about. Oh and in most cantons [swiss version of states] citizens can carry guns without a permit. In some states they need a permit to carry concealed but in most they can legally carrywithout a permit. Our safest state Vermont allows citizens to carry without a permit. Guns save lives. Gun control kills.
@dondarkey Oh and in israel teachers and parent aids carry guns in school. Israel used to have a problem with terrorists schooting up their schools but now they don't have that problem. Heck now they don't have any problems with school shootings. Save the children, arm the teachers.
@dondarkey when Brittan banned the gun crimes increased by 40% because criminals can break the law and keep their guns when the law abiding citizens have nothing to protect themselves with.
@dondarkey There is no such thing as an "Assault Weapon" Show me 1 just 1 weapon that has those words stamped on it. I do own both an M-16 and a AR-15. Both are legal to own in the US and yes, I have my M-16 on a form 4.
@dondarkey Hitler didn't spend time in Switzerland. By the way, USA with allies forced Germany to disarm both it's army and private citizens after WWI. The gun laws from 1928 (before Hitler) allowed citizens to own guns with a permit. Hitler kept this law until 1938 when the laws became LESS strict. Rifles and ammunition did your require a permit. In 1945 the USA with allies disarmed the german citizens again. Private ownership of firearms was not allowed until after 1956.
3.5 stars for the vid...scenes go by too quick..no music....5 stars for the material. it is interesting to wonder if the Chinese people were armed during the Cultural Revolution mabye some of the estimated 49 - 78 MILLION (worst genocide in history) would have lived....
I noticed that too. That's why I kept using the pause to give myself more time to read. I want to add that it's NOT our responsibility to depend on the government, it's the government''s responcibility to be dependable.
Anti-gun leftists are such morons. They personally aren't comfortable around guns or they want to help stop gun violence. Fine. Nothing wrong with that. But think logically about the consequences of making guns illegal. Will it stop criminals, gang members, psychopaths from getting guns? No, it won't. There's literally hundreds of millions of guns in this country. There's no way you can get rid of them all. The only thing you'll be doing is taking guns away from people who are responisible.
But what about the people who only want to ban some guns? Like assualt rifles, silencers, large caliber guns, large capacity guns and automatics. Well again, by making them illegal you'll only be taking them away from responsible citizens who care about following the law. The monsters who use them to terrorize innocent people will still have them. And now the previously armed decent people will be completely defenseless. How does creating the situation make any sense?
The same thing is true for the anti-knife advocates. After my friend was murdered by illegal alien gang members from Mexico 2 years ago simply because he was white and his girlfriend was hispanic, I decided it was time to buy a gun and a decent sized pocket knife for self-defense. By the way, the guns the gang members used were not purchased legally. Ideally I wanted a knife that would open automatically at the press of a button in order to ensure I could use it effectively in an emergency.
Like if I got in a car accident and my car was sinking in water or on fire and I needed to cut a jammed seatbelt quickly. And or course to use it on an aggressive low life God forbid. But unfortunately I discovered that automatic knives are completely illegal unless you're in the military or are a police officer. How moronic. So because criminals and gang members like to use knives like that you're going to ban normal people from owning them? What sense does that make? They have them anyway.
So not only are these anti-self defense leftists not thinking logically they're putting my life at risk as well. A perfect example of this irresponsible leftist facism happened in Canada. It's illegal for Canadians to carry guns on their person. Even in wild parts of the country which filled with extremely large bears and other predators. So they can't even protect themselves if they're attacked by a wild animal. What an idiotic law. You're condemning people to being eaten. And for what?
@rimfa123 While not all leftists are fascists, in the US it is often the leftists that seek to completely ban guns. Which is in and of itself an act of tyranny, so the term fits.
@Cajaquarius In the UK it is extremely difficult to get hold of firearms legally, (which sometimes annoys me as I love military history and would love to be able to own and shoot some historical weapons) but it seems to work ok for us. Democracy is still holding strong and the crime rates are low. But, I think with the US, there are so many guns in circulation, if you tried to ban them, criminals would just keep them- it would have to be done so criminals were disarmed too.
@rimfa123 Bear in mind that much of the gun free Europe you reference has only existed in that state for a century or so. The UK did not always ban all weapons as it does (or heavily restrict them). It is dangerous to assume things will always be this way. History has seen the rise and fall of nations, the rise and fall of democracy, even, into tyranny. I hope it works out for the UK, but as it is, it is too early to say for sure where the UK and democracy there is headed, historically speaking.
@rimfa123 Yes, that is true. I really don't care, one way or another. Flags, countries, nations rise and nations fall. So long as humanity survives and so long as we leave behind a better world in some way within our power, it is all any of us can hope for, really.
@rimfa123 We already have laws that forbid use of guns in criminal manner, and possession of guns by criminals. If law could disarm a criminal, that would do it. I have guns that are over 100 years old and just as effective now as they ever were. Banning guns would have no effect on the guns in circulation amoung criminals for a very long time, but would fairly quickly disarm their victims. Not a good thing.
@christmanpunch If you think a small rifle or a handgun can stop a bear, boar or anything from fucking you up, you are sorely mistaken. You either would have to land the shot at exactly the right spot, or was already hunting to begin with.
If you want to stop wild animal attacks in its track, you need distance, and a large caliber rifle. If you don't land the shot perfectly they will simply fuck you up before they even die from small firearms.
@Neosaigo I believe the point he was trying to make is that you can't even carry the appropriate caliber weapon to defend against a bear or other large predator, plus there are plenty of hand guns calibers with enough power to stop a bear. I got a 280 pound Black Bear with my .44 last September, not only that but if i only had a .22 and a bear was attacking me i would still rather have the .22 than nothing
people in the uk are not allowed self defense case in point the farmer who defended his property from 2 hardcore criminals and is in jail cause of it. if you think gun control stops the mafia in the UK or Europe from owning guns then you sir are naive. democracy is 2 wolves fighting over who gets the lamb while a constitutional republic is a heavily armed lamb contesting the vote.
You know what, he actually lives in the UK so I think he knows what rights his people have and do not have. And he's right about the UK only having a fraction of violent crime than the US, and even a smaller fraction of gun crime.
Also, in regards to the second thing you said, did it ever occur to you that a democracy could also have a constitution?
B/N labor & management(pencil pushers), there's a division regarding gun rights among the police. It'spolitically engineered that way. The labor(those who take all the front line risks-so called "grunts") WANT citizens to be allowed to arm themselves. Guess what the pencil pushers want. They're the only ones anybody will hire.
I got it out of Microsoft Encarta. I'm not sure what year of MSE, but it was an article about gun control in a "Shot Down" sidebar. The article included info regarding an outstanding advocate on Gary Klec(K?). He was a member-not of the NRA, but of the ACLU, & was a democrat.
I digress... thee is no point in arguing with a disillusioned young person who hasn't experienced or researched enough to have valid arguments. The victim mentality is pathetic.. get off your ass and do something...there is nothing holding you back in this country except YOU. The government doesn't go out and hand pick who will succeed. They work for it. Class envy is the hallmark of socialism.
Just like there is no point in arguing with a brainwashed libertarians who believe that the American lifestyle is better than the rest of the world, and that capitalism is somehow tied to democracy.
Only the ignoramus would claim that capitalism rewards hard work, or that anyone can succeed in a capitalist society. Capitalism rewards CERTAIN work. Example, who makes more money, a waitress or model? Answer: the model. Now who probably works harder? Yeah, the waitress.
Guns...like anything else...will not go away because you make a law. Drugs are a perfect example... So glad to see that the laws got rid of the drug problem. Laws do not stop illegal activity... only changing the mental state of the people commited the acts does... Open your eyes and be logical.
You're flip-flopping on me here, make up your damn mind. You agreed that eliminating guns, like other countries have reduces the amount of guns available and gun crimes. Now you're saying that a law banning firearms will not make them go away.
You can never totally get rid of something, but if there's less guns being circulated, there will be less available to criminals.
If we go by your logical though, rape might as well be legal because "criminals don't obey laws anyway".
in the uk Citizens have few rights and are not allowed to defend themselves against Gun Armed criminals. Crooks, gangs and the mafia carry guns in the UK despite the the nazi fascist gun laws
sigh... I would like to point out to everyone where elsa specifically says "responds to dangerous calls" WHo exactly are these calls for? Hmmmmm? The innocent civilian that made the call in their time of trouble, that's who it is. I guess there is no reason for that innocent person to be able to defend themselves.
One last point...I think you have some growing up to do son before you don a uniform. You openly cast judgement on regions of the country, and openly admit you are a marxist. You are not responsible enough to defend the freedoms of people. Your ability to make decisions is exampled to be swayed such trivial things as people's religion. Please....for the sake of sparing us another Rodney King incident..apply at McDonald's and not to "Serve and Protect".
This is ridiculous! i want my right to bear arms back for britain! The amount of gun crimes has risen by a ridiculous rate since the handgun ban has come into effect.
I hear you man. I feel sorry for you over there. I find it sad that they stripped your freedom from you. Wish things would change for you. Oh, xbox rules.
I got the 360 I play live all the time prefer games with guns. I am trying to stock up on guns. So far 1 pistol, 2 .22s, and an FNH PBR XP (308 sniper rifle) I will never give them up. Alright peace.
"It is my opinion that it is best to hope for the best but to prepare for the worst."
Well, in my opinion, it is best not to sit around hoping for anything at all. If people really want to prevent a catastrophe then they should do something about it, not sit around making videos about arming ourselves to fight against the government.
For example, we wouldn't even have this issue if the U.S. government was democratically run, rather than being a capitalist oligarchy.
Well, I did say 'prepare for the worst', indicating that you should do something to actively help yourself and others.
Please also note, I am not saying that all that one should do is 'arming oneself to fight against the government', but rather merely ensure that one has the means to defend oneself if necessary.
Lastly, while I have no love for the recent US governments, this is not an issue that is restricted to a particular system of government but affects Capitalist, Communist, Socialist, Theocratic and all other governments.
As a side note, you criticise video making, which is an effective method of spreading an idea and discussion, but what exactly are you doing apart from commenting on those videos?
*sigh* Apparently two of the comments I posted earlier in quick succession never registered...
Anyway, I know that you support private gun ownership for reasons other than an armed uprising, and I do concede that some of those other reasons (i.e. home defense) have some strong arguments going for them. Still, I stand behind my assertions that if the state really wants you dead, its going to happen whether you have your handgun/rifle or not.
Yeah, I've been noticing some weird stuff going on with managing the comments on my videos too... Sorry that your comments didn't get saved to the page.
I can agree that not only are most police and military personnel better equipped and armed than the citizenry, they also have much more training. You are correct that there would likely be a heavy loss of life inflicted upon the public in a civil conflict.
However, I am also a strong believer that it is 'better to die on your feet than live on your knees'. Personally, I would rather die trying to stop an evil force than surrender to it and either die anyway or live a life that isn't worth living.
With luck, it's something that neither of us will ever have to do.
Although we will have to agree to disagree, I'm glad that you have brought up the points you have, it's a great benefit to the page to have this sort of discussion.
ive read all ur comments and u think his video is about us overthrowing our DEMOCRACY not oligarcy but thats not wat his video is about. its about the goverments dilemma about trying to take away guns from citizens and its true the police officers cant protect everybody from criminals.
I also believe that our nations law enforcement/military personnel would not go along with slaughtering the individuals they've sworn to protect. I feel that the mere mentioning of such an idea (that they are not trustworthy of being the only ones armed), like in the contents of this video, is a slap in the face to them.
I have the utmost respect for both of these professions and I agree that the vast majority would most likely resist such an oppressive government as any freedom loving citizen.
I hope I have not given the impression that it is these men and women who are to be opposed, especially considering that I shortly hope to join the ranks of my own country's armed forces.
im also assuming that u think im a paranoid redneck because im from the south and dont belive in gun control. btw do you even live in america? if not i dont think u should be critisizing our thoughts about laws or our goverment.
so im right u think im a paranoid redneck because im from georgia and belive in the right to bear arms. i also sense a hint of superiorism torwards liberal/southern states. as for me i dont think im better than u but i also dont think ur better than me due to the state you live in
Being liberal makes you more civilized? The fact that your type willfully keeps minorities beneath you by such things as affirmative action? You people truly believe that they are not "good" enough on their own so they NEED your help. THAT is true racism. I find it coincidental that the strongest bastions of liberalism also have the most poverty and crime....maybe you people want it that way. You know guarantee votes...no problem and your mentality is not needed. Sounds REEEAL civil to me.
Well good then...so how do you feel knowing that your shepards believe you cannot get a job or go to school because of your abilities? They truly believe that without them you have no chance. If your example is true then explain why there are MANY urban areas that have a fraction of the crime rate as LA? Milwaukee, Pittsburgh, Dallas, Seattle...the list goes on. LA, NYC, Detroit, Newark, Chicago....all the most restrictive and also the worst off. Hmmmm, I see a pattern here.
While I myself am an atheist due to my own thoughts, I also find it hard to criticize the southern areas where religion is strong. The south historically has the worst poverty, and the most minorities...yet they manage to have much lower crime rates. I find it ironic that you choose the path of descrimination on these people because of their beliefs. Funny how liberals tout not being "preJUDICED" then immediately cast judgement on people. Your points are childish and irrelevant.
If you're an athiest, then you should realize how absurd Christians are.
What pattern would that be? Of the areas you listed, Seattle is one of the most places in the entire country, and the others, while large cities, are nowhere near LA/Chicago/NYC size.
You can't deny there is a correlation between the inner-city and crime rate though. You can compare Pittsburgh or Dallas to any rural area (even in CA), and obviously Pittsburgh/Dallas will have more crime.
You are dodging the point. First off, Seattle has a very low crime rate versus other metro areas. The point you are dodging is that the WORST areas... NYC, LA (which really includes all of Ca from San Diego up to LA), Detroit, Washington D.C., all have the WORST crime problems and the strictest anti gun laws. It has already been proven that right to carry laws result in lower crime rates. I also find it funny you so openly judge people's religion...yet you are openly a Marxist Socialist.. hahaha
I'm not dodging the point. First off, Seattle is just as strict with regards to guns as anywhere in CA.
Secondly, guns are not controlled anywhere in the U.S. I happen to live in San Diego, and even if I couldn't own all of the weapons I could own in...let's say Texas, if I wanted to, I can still buy guns here. Yeah, the guns people use to commit crimes are obtained illegally, but where did the originate from? They didn't materialize out of then air, they came from the legal market.
You want to talk about a place where guns are REALLY controlled, forget California, look at Japan. Now there is a nation where guns are truly controlled, and guess what, it is probably the safest developed nation in the planet.
Moreover, if it was true that more guns = less crime, then why isn't the U.S. the safest nation on Earth? We have over 30% of all the guns in the world in the hands of private citizens, far more than any other nation.
Ahhhh, herein lies the truth...it is not the guns that cause crimes. It is the mentality of the people that commit crimes. Japan has an entirely different social belief system, and much less poverty. Funny you didn't list your beloved mother Russia... who has the HIGHEST crime rate in the world... and very some of the strictest gun control. As for Ca... yes... there are a lot of "banned" guns....do some research. You cannot import a high capacity weapon. Ca is also notorious for denying carry-
permits. Please... you can hardly say the People's Republic of Kalifornia is anything like the rest of the country. You stupid meddling government is the reason your state is going bankrupt...yet has more ability to raise money than any other state.
So if you're going to try and compare the U.S. or any other state where there is a legal civilian market, compare it to a state where there is NO civilian market. China is obviously the best example. A country with over 4 times the population of the U.S. yet it has far less gun crime. And before you say anything, unlike Japan, China does have a lot of poverty!
Of course they do have a different belief system though. They're not like some Americans who carry guns to compensate for something...
Sigh... yet again you bring up a good point in my behalf. Sure there are relatively few guns in China....but there is no shortage of crime. Most crime in China is commited by bands of street thugs or organized members of the Triad and their henchmen with edged or blunt weapons or by simple hand to hand bullying seeing how the Chinese are well versed in the martial arts that they of course invented. I'm done with your ignorance and deluded communist agenda.
You're obviously confused. I'm speaking of gun crimes and gun related fatalities here, and you're bringing up crime in general. I never said removing guns would eliminate ALL crime, only that *complete* restriction of guns results in less gun crime.
Stop being an evasive little prick and admit it.
"If guns are scarce they will use other means."
And how is that not an improvement already? Firearms augment an individual's ability to destroy life more than any other tool.
Well no kidding if you "eliminate" something it will lessen it's use. If you eliminate cars there will be less accidents... no kidding. Get out of the third grade please. Let's pretend for one instant that the majority of murder is not by other means. There are roughly 5,000 gun murders in the US and 16,000 murders total. Removing guns will hardly stop that, as people will turn to the already more popular other means.
"Well no kidding if you "eliminate" something it will lessen it's use." Well good, now that we're on the same page, you must also agree with me that increasing the amount of guns will ultimately increase the amount of gun crime.
5,000/16,000 seems like a pretty large percentage to me? What is that, like around 35%? I disagree that removing guns will not lower that number. Let's also not forget about non-fatal shootings, and other gun crimes like armed robberies.
Soooo, what you are telling me in your reasoning... if someone wants to kill another person....if guns are illegal... they are going to say "I'd fucking kill you, but guns aren't available so I guess not..." Please, get a clue... If I want you dead... you are already gone, you just don't klnow it yet, and knife, gun, or strangled it's going to happen.
No, my reasoning is that guns make it ridiculously easy for anyone to destroy another person. A five your old could pick up a gun, move his finger back a couple inches and kill an adult. Could he do the same with a knife? Unlikely.
Of course there are some absolutely determined to murder someone and wouldn't be dissuaded by not having a gun, but there are also those who commit crimes in the heat of the moment, especially when they have a gun readily available to facilitate their act.
guns are generally noisy and attract attention from witnesses and nearby police officers. Especially where I live, as there is a strictly enforced ban on civilian use of silencers. If I were a murderer, I would shy away from using a firearm, as it would not leave enough time to clean up and escape (and witnesses would see me escape) before the cops arrive. In wars, guns kill better, but in a war, killing is legal, but guns are not the best weapon for committing a homicide.
Soo, you are saying that burglary, armed robbery, domestic assault, assaults, car jackings, and any other crime you are listing doesnt involve a citizen that would have benefited from having a means to defend themselves? Not only is that ignorant, but it shows that you truly do believe that people are beneath you... that's great... exactly what we need another cop with an attitude.
"By the way, I'm not surprised about the negative comments you've made about cops." Side topic... cops more than anyone else in society...are in a position where they need to uphold the HIGHEST standards... yet we are faced with a system in which police protect thier
own and fail in "protecting" individual rights. Why is police corruption and abuse so common? Hmmm? I think its the kids who got picked on that want power in adult life. I'LL SHOW THEM!!! Whatever dude...
Not to mention the area you are in is one of the worst in the nation for corruption... how many times now has the LAPD been sued for police brutality? How many times have they been under investigation for corruption? Please... get out of your deluded shell.
By the same token, you communists try to delegitimize anything to do with the individual in favor of a bunch of hive-minding sheepies slaving away for an ineffective system (that's why Americans pwned Soviet Russia) that mistreats all members (except the corrupt dictator and his friends) equally.
Slaving away? You mean what the majority of Americans do so that a tiny minority of elite corporate executives can make billions off of everyone else's hard work?
Sorry, but socialism is a far more democratic way of running the economy.
Capitalism does not reward hard work, it rewards those who have manipulated the system, and exploit others. Capitalism is a dog eat dog, Social Darwinist society.
America is far from true capitalism. Regrettably, the american government actually props up companies that are failing due to incompetence on the part of overpaid executives. A truly capitalist nation would let those idiots and their mismanaged businesses fail and give way to competently run businesses. Capitalist governments have a policy of MINIMAL or NO intervention, not intervention on the part of CEOs. That does not describe dumbfuckistan.
Who the fuck is bringing up communism here, besides you? SOCIALISM works. Look at Sweden and Denmark, these are socialist countries that have higher standards of living than the U.S.
Also, if you want true capitalism than you're a fool. Let's regress to the 19th century where we have child labor, 18 hour work days, and no minimum wage, because it was that "pesky government" than but a stop to all of that.
Capitalism actually DOES promote a higher standard of living. You just have to not be too dumb or too lazy to get a proper education and become the boss if you want that higher standard of living to apply to you.
How does that promote a higher quality of living for the masses. See, in your opinion the so called "boss" should lead a better life simply because he's the one cracking the whip?
It's the workers that are that are responsible for all of a company's productivity, not the executives. They just sit on their asses and rake in the cash by cutting costs everywhere they can. This includes paying their workers next to nothing, and not giving them proper benefits.
First off....do some research, Sweden and Denmark are NOT Socialist...they are Social Democratic states... they have a free economy the same as the US. Businesses are privately owned. The only difference is that they have a high income tax to provide for the general welfare. If you want to call that "Socialist" then you might as well include the US in that because we pay the highest taxes per capita in the world and most of it goes to social programs.
Your point is? Even if they are not completely socialist, they're definitely examples of how socialism does work.
They may have to pay like 60% income taxes, but in return everyone gets all their basic needs met, which is why those nations have a higher standard of living for the majority of their citizens.
Which is what really matters - what is best for the majority, rather than the small nonconformist group that desire more.
You obviously have never been in a position of leadership... If you think being in charge is sitting back you have no clue. As for being paid properly... are you kidding? Americans enjoy the highest wages and benefits in the world.. this is why so many companies can't make a profit here and leave to go overseas to places like China where wages border on slave labor.
I fail to see your point. The elimination of guns does nothing to curb crime. A gun does not have an aura that makes people near it do wrong. They are CRIMINALS because of their mentality. If guns are scarce they will use other means. The difference is a person allowed to carry for defense can protect themselves. This is why guns are known as "force multipliers". The great equalizer. Funny how you socialists claim to want to help people, but the first thing you do is make them defenseless. Why?
It also stands out loud and clear that you believe you are better than people. You openly proclaim that you are interested in law enforcement. What makes a police officer any better than anyone else? All a cop is, is a civilian given a badge...that's it. You want to disarm everyone, but arm yourself? Hypocrisy, I love it. It's wonderful how police feel the need to have a weapon...why? If the need is there, why not a responsible citizen? Compensating? Seems like you are the one who wants a badge.
First of all, I don't want to become a cop to arm myself. If I wanted to arm myself, I could have already done so.
Second of all, there is a huge difference between the average person and a cop. The average person doesn't drive around at 3:00AM in the worst part of town and respond to dangerous calls. Law enforcement officers carry guns out of necessity.
That being said, if the U.S. was like the U.K. where the police don't carry guns (because they don't need to), I wouldn't mind that at all.
So, the average person is not allowed to be out at night? Many people are out at night...but I guess a cop is special because he wears a badge. If he "needs" a gun for protection then the "need" is there for anyone. Police brutality, personal rights violations, corruption...There is far too many reasons to blindly trust someone simply because they wear a badge. If police want more respect, then they need to start "policing" their own.
In trouble?
Somebody threatening you?
Someone breaking into your home?
Call a COP.
He will get there in time to gather evidence and put yellow tape around your corpse.
COPs arrive at the scene of most crimes in time to "Secure the Crime Scene".
Reassuring thought.

FlamingBat 5 months ago
@FlamingBat You cannot own a firearm if you have felony charges or a history of mental instability or aggervated violence.

@FlamingBat
I own lots of guns.
My 'Background" was checked every time I bought a gun.
I stay uber-legal just so I will always have the freedom to buy another gun legally.
It's a strong incentive to behave myself.
hammerogod 3 months ago
@hammerogod I'm not completely or even mostly against the ownership of guns. I think it's unfortunate that real guns exist, but since they do, people need rights to protect themselves from others with guns. The point of my first post is that "gun control" isn't always about banning guns or disarming civilians. There are different levels of gun control.
FlamingBat 3 months ago
@FlamingBat
There are people whom I don't want to have guns.
I have people in my family and close circle of friends who should never be allowed to own a firearm.
So I understand.
We live in a society that still has great good in it...but the great bad will be with us always.
We have no sure way of identifying those who should not have firearms until they do something stupid with them.
In the mean time it's a Constitutionally protected Right.
I would rather take the chance than lose the Right.

Just say "H#LL NO" to gun control!!!!!

the statistics for gun violence in America is coming from the GIANT gang wars in NY and L.A and cities all around America they don't really apply to legal gun owners,of course we have a high rate of gun related crimes we have a full blown war going on in the streets guns are imported and sold illegally and used by the estimated 2 million gang members responsible for more then 80% of crimes in communities across the nation,CA and NY have the toughest gun laws and there the places with gun crime

The reason why America became free is because in 1775 is because there was no gap between the arms that the people could own and the tyrants over them.
The difference between the American Farmer and and European Serf is that American Farmers had guns and could not be subdued.

@big4x4mudder He wasn't wrong.. but GW never saw a Tank, an aircraft, an offensive military manuever.... Im saying GW quotes do not have the impression they used to back in the day of muskets, horses and wood burning stoves.

Not 1778.

@MrSPAX7 banning `assault weapons` in the UK hasn't reduced gun crime.
The illegal weapons are imported from far off country's, and sold to gangs.
But these guns are illegal, so it should be impossible for them to get them!
My point is- banning things like this hasn't worked, it simply deprives legitimate users of them, while barley affecting criminals at all.
EvilLamas 1 year ago
@EvilLamas Legitimate users of firearms do not use assault weapons.

@MrSPAX7 If any semi automatic or automatic weapon is an assauly weapon- then yes they do!
Some compotitions in shooting sports require semi automatic or automatic function.
also- they're really fun to shoot:)
Gangs use handguns generally, you dont see them toting top of the line assault rifles.
EvilLamas 1 year ago
@MrSPAX7 I should also point out that in 2006 in the UK, where there are really strict gun controll laws, there were 46 gun related murders.
Switzerland, with very lax gun laws, and free assault weapons for a large portion of the population, had only 35.
I'm aware that they are a much smaller country- but the levels of crime in general in the UK were far far higher- the guns arn't the problem ,its the people!
EvilLamas 1 year ago

@davidje10 I think on that day you receive a phone call from the police telling you your spouse was killed during a home invasion would drastically change your mind.

The only thing you'll be doing is taking guns away from people who are responisible.
christmanpunch 2 years ago 2
But what about the people who only want to ban some guns? Like assualt rifles, silencers, large caliber guns, large capacity guns and automatics. Well again, by making them illegal you'll only be taking them away from responsible citizens who care about following the law. The monsters who use them to terrorize innocent people will still have them. And now the previously armed decent people will be completely defenseless. How does creating the situation make any sense?
christmanpunch 2 years ago 3
The same thing is true for the anti-knife advocates. After my friend was murdered by illegal alien gang members from Mexico 2 years ago simply because he was white and his girlfriend was hispanic, I decided it was time to buy a gun and a decent sized pocket knife for self-defense. By the way, the guns the gang members used were not purchased legally. Ideally I wanted a knife that would open automatically at the press of a button in order to ensure I could use it effectively in an emergency.
christmanpunch 2 years ago
Like if I got in a car accident and my car was sinking in water or on fire and I needed to cut a jammed seatbelt quickly. And or course to use it on an aggressive low life God forbid. But unfortunately I discovered that automatic knives are completely illegal unless you're in the military or are a police officer. How moronic. So because criminals and gang members like to use knives like that you're going to ban normal people from owning them? What sense does that make? They have them anyway.
christmanpunch 2 years ago 2

Cajaquarius 1 year ago
@Cajaquarius In the UK it is extremely difficult to get hold of firearms legally, (which sometimes annoys me as I love military history and would love to be able to own and shoot some historical weapons) but it seems to work ok for us. Democracy is still holding strong and the crime rates are low. But, I think with the US, there are so many guns in circulation, if you tried to ban them, criminals would just keep them- it would have to be done so criminals were disarmed too.
rimfa123 1 year ago
@rimfa123 Nope too many people value the constitutional right. Don't want any more nazi like gun bans.
Fallout3Follower 1 year ago
@rimfa123 Bear in mind that much of the gun free Europe you reference has only existed in that state for a century or so. The UK did not always ban all weapons as it does (or heavily restrict them). It is dangerous to assume things will always be this way. History has seen the rise and fall of nations, the rise and fall of democracy, even, into tyranny. I hope it works out for the UK, but as it is, it is too early to say for sure where the UK and democracy there is headed, historically speaking.
Cajaquarius 1 year ago
@Cajaquarius Thankyou, I hope it works out in America too. I supose, diferrences are differences, only time will tell...
rimfa123 1 year ago
@rimfa123 Yes, that is true. I really don't care, one way or another. Flags, countries, nations rise and nations fall. So long as humanity survives and so long as we leave behind a better world in some way within our power, it is all any of us can hope for, really.
Cajaquarius 1 year ago
@Cajaquarius humanity should survive as humans, not as sheep for slaughter, or as slave workers.
DonMeaker 1 year ago
@rimfa123 We already have laws that forbid use of guns in criminal manner, and possession of guns by criminals. If law could disarm a criminal, that would do it. I have guns that are over 100 years old and just as effective now as they ever were. Banning guns would have no effect on the guns in circulation amoung criminals for a very long time, but would fairly quickly disarm their victims. Not a good thing.
DonMeaker 1 year ago
@christmanpunch If you think a small rifle or a handgun can stop a bear, boar or anything from fucking you up, you are sorely mistaken. You either would have to land the shot at exactly the right spot, or was already hunting to begin with.
If you want to stop wild animal attacks in its track, you need distance, and a large caliber rifle. If you don't land the shot perfectly they will simply fuck you up before they even die from small firearms.
I am all for guns, but I hate bad excuses.
Neosaigo 9 months ago
@Neosaigo I believe the point he was trying to make is that you can't even carry the appropriate caliber weapon to defend against a bear or other large predator, plus there are plenty of hand guns calibers with enough power to stop a bear. I got a 280 pound Black Bear with my .44 last September, not only that but if i only had a .22 and a bear was attacking me i would still rather have the .22 than nothing

if you support gun control you support Nazism and Oppression. those who give up freedom for a little temporary freedom deserve neither

people in the uk are not allowed self defense case in point the farmer who defended his property from 2 hardcore criminals and is in jail cause of it. if you think gun control stops the mafia in the UK or Europe from owning guns then you sir are naive. democracy is 2 wolves fighting over who gets the lamb while a constitutional republic is a heavily armed lamb contesting the vote.
freedombase 2 years ago 2
You know what, he actually lives in the UK so I think he knows what rights his people have and do not have. And he's right about the UK only having a fraction of violent crime than the US, and even a smaller fraction of gun crime.
Also, in regards to the second thing you said, did it ever occur to you that a democracy could also have a constitution?
elsamuraiguapo 2 years ago
UK law is very clear:
Everyone has the right to defend themselves and others.
Violence may be used in that defence
The degree of violence includes causing death
The violence may be preempted
The argument is not whether you can or cannot defend yourself, the question is that a gun is not the only way to do it.
billburns2 2 years ago
B/N labor & management(pencil pushers), there's a division regarding gun rights among the police. It'spolitically engineered that way. The labor(those who take all the front line risks-so called "grunts") WANT citizens to be allowed to arm themselves. Guess what the pencil pushers want. They're the only ones anybody will hire.

interesting point.
Please cite some sources to prove it.
billburns2 2 years ago
I got it out of Microsoft Encarta. I'm not sure what year of MSE, but it was an article about gun control in a "Shot Down" sidebar. The article included info regarding an outstanding advocate on Gary Klec(K?). He was a member-not of the NRA, but of the ACLU, & was a democrat.
niflap 2 years ago
You're also referring to the Tony Martin case from 10 years ago which is far from typical and is still a very controversial judgement.
For a more up-to-date self defence case google Kenneth Batchelor.
billburns2 2 years ago
I digress... thee is no point in arguing with a disillusioned young person who hasn't experienced or researched enough to have valid arguments. The victim mentality is pathetic.. get off your ass and do something...there is nothing holding you back in this country except YOU. The government doesn't go out and hand pick who will succeed. They work for it. Class envy is the hallmark of socialism.
HatrXx78 2 years ago
Just like there is no point in arguing with a brainwashed libertarians who believe that the American lifestyle is better than the rest of the world, and that capitalism is somehow tied to democracy.
Only the ignoramus would claim that capitalism rewards hard work, or that anyone can succeed in a capitalist society. Capitalism rewards CERTAIN work. Example, who makes more money, a waitress or model? Answer: the model. Now who probably works harder? Yeah, the waitress.
elsamuraiguapo 2 years ago
Guns...like anything else...will not go away because you make a law. Drugs are a perfect example... So glad to see that the laws got rid of the drug problem. Laws do not stop illegal activity... only changing the mental state of the people commited the acts does... Open your eyes and be logical.
HatrXx78 2 years ago
You're flip-flopping on me here, make up your damn mind. You agreed that eliminating guns, like other countries have reduces the amount of guns available and gun crimes. Now you're saying that a law banning firearms will not make them go away.
You can never totally get rid of something, but if there's less guns being circulated, there will be less available to criminals.
If we go by your logical though, rape might as well be legal because "criminals don't obey laws anyway".
elsamuraiguapo 2 years ago
in the uk Citizens have few rights and are not allowed to defend themselves against Gun Armed criminals. Crooks, gangs and the mafia carry guns in the UK despite the the nazi fascist gun laws

You are wrong. Every UK citizen has the right to defend themselves.
We do a pretty good job of it too - considering that violent crime in the UK is a fraction of what it is where you live.

"It is my opinion that it is best to hope for the best but to prepare for the worst."
Well, in my opinion, it is best not to sit around hoping for anything at all. If people really want to prevent a catastrophe then they should do something about it, not sit around making videos about arming ourselves to fight against the government.
For example, we wouldn't even have this issue if the U.S. government was democratically run, rather than being a capitalist oligarchy.
elsamuraiguapo 2 years ago
Well, I did say 'prepare for the worst', indicating that you should do something to actively help yourself and others.
Please also note, I am not saying that all that one should do is 'arming oneself to fight against the government', but rather merely ensure that one has the means to defend oneself if necessary.

Firsir 2 years ago
Lastly, while I have no love for the recent US governments, this is not an issue that is restricted to a particular system of government but affects Capitalist, Communist, Socialist, Theocratic and all other governments.
As a side note, you criticise video making, which is an effective method of spreading an idea and discussion, but what exactly are you doing apart from commenting on those videos?
Firsir 2 years ago
*sigh* Apparently two of the comments I posted earlier in quick succession never registered...
Anyway, I know that you support private gun ownership for reasons other than an armed uprising, and I do concede that some of those other reasons (i.e. home defense) have some strong arguments going for them. Still, I stand behind my assertions that if the state really wants you dead, its going to happen whether you have your handgun/rifle or not.
elsamuraiguapo 2 years ago
Yeah, I've been noticing some weird stuff going on with managing the comments on my videos too... Sorry that your comments didn't get saved to the page.
I can agree that not only are most police and military personnel better equipped and armed than the citizenry, they also have much more training. You are correct that there would likely be a heavy loss of life inflicted upon the public in a civil conflict.

Firsir 2 years ago
However, I am also a strong believer that it is 'better to die on your feet than live on your knees'. Personally, I would rather die trying to stop an evil force than surrender to it and either die anyway or live a life that isn't worth living.
With luck, it's something that neither of us will ever have to do.
Although we will have to agree to disagree, I'm glad that you have brought up the points you have, it's a great benefit to the page to have this sort of discussion.
Firsir 2 years ago
ive read all ur comments and u think his video is about us overthrowing our DEMOCRACY not oligarcy but thats not wat his video is about. its about the goverments dilemma about trying to take away guns from citizens and its true the police officers cant protect everybody from criminals.
crablegs21 2 years ago
I also believe that our nations law enforcement/military personnel would not go along with slaughtering the individuals they've sworn to protect. I feel that the mere mentioning of such an idea (that they are not trustworthy of being the only ones armed), like in the contents of this video, is a slap in the face to them.
elsamuraiguapo 2 years ago
I have the utmost respect for both of these professions and I agree that the vast majority would most likely resist such an oppressive government as any freedom loving citizen.
I hope I have not given the impression that it is these men and women who are to be opposed, especially considering that I shortly hope to join the ranks of my own country's armed forces.

im also assuming that u think im a paranoid redneck because im from the south and dont belive in gun control. btw do you even live in america? if not i dont think u should be critisizing our thoughts about laws or our goverment.
crablegs21 2 years ago
Your first assumption is correct.
As for you question, yeah, I do live in the U.S., only I'm from a more civilized portion of this nation than you are (AKA a liberal state).
elsamuraiguapo 2 years ago
so im right u think im a paranoid redneck because im from georgia and belive in the right to bear arms. i also sense a hint of superiorism torwards liberal/southern states. as for me i dont think im better than u but i also dont think ur better than me due to the state you live in
crablegs21 2 years ago 3
Being liberal makes you more civilized? The fact that your type willfully keeps minorities beneath you by such things as affirmative action? You people truly believe that they are not "good" enough on their own so they NEED your help. THAT is true racism. I find it coincidental that the strongest bastions of liberalism also have the most poverty and crime....maybe you people want it that way. You know guarantee votes...no problem and your mentality is not needed. Sounds REEEAL civil to me.
HatrXx78 2 years ago
That's better than being from a place where people draw their political beliefs based upon what is written in some fabricated book of stories.
By the way, I don't keep minorities beneath me, nor do I believe they're "not good enough on their own". I AM a minority.
There is always more poverty and crime in large metropolitan areas. Has nothing to do with how liberal the state is or isn't.
If there was a Los Angeles in Mississippi, it would be the same thing.
elsamuraiguapo 2 years ago
Well good then...so how do you feel knowing that your shepards believe you cannot get a job or go to school because of your abilities? They truly believe that without them you have no chance. If your example is true then explain why there are MANY urban areas that have a fraction of the crime rate as LA? Milwaukee, Pittsburgh, Dallas, Seattle...the list goes on. LA, NYC, Detroit, Newark, Chicago....all the most restrictive and also the worst off. Hmmmm, I see a pattern here.
HatrXx78 2 years ago 3
While I myself am an atheist due to my own thoughts, I also find it hard to criticize the southern areas where religion is strong. The south historically has the worst poverty, and the most minorities...yet they manage to have much lower crime rates. I find it ironic that you choose the path of descrimination on these people because of their beliefs. Funny how liberals tout not being "preJUDICED" then immediately cast judgement on people. Your points are childish and irrelevant.
HatrXx78 2 years ago 3
If you're an athiest, then you should realize how absurd Christians are.
What pattern would that be? Of the areas you listed, Seattle is one of the most places in the entire country, and the others, while large cities, are nowhere near LA/Chicago/NYC size.
You can't deny there is a correlation between the inner-city and crime rate though. You can compare Pittsburgh or Dallas to any rural area (even in CA), and obviously Pittsburgh/Dallas will have more crime.
elsamuraiguapo 2 years ago
You are dodging the point. First off, Seattle has a very low crime rate versus other metro areas. The point you are dodging is that the WORST areas... NYC, LA (which really includes all of Ca from San Diego up to LA), Detroit, Washington D.C., all have the WORST crime problems and the strictest anti gun laws. It has already been proven that right to carry laws result in lower crime rates. I also find it funny you so openly judge people's religion...yet you are openly a Marxist Socialist.. hahaha
HatrXx78 2 years ago
I'm not dodging the point. First off, Seattle is just as strict with regards to guns as anywhere in CA.
Secondly, guns are not controlled anywhere in the U.S. I happen to live in San Diego, and even if I couldn't own all of the weapons I could own in...let's say Texas, if I wanted to, I can still buy guns here. Yeah, the guns people use to commit crimes are obtained illegally, but where did the originate from? They didn't materialize out of then air, they came from the legal market.
Continued
elsamuraiguapo 2 years ago
You want to talk about a place where guns are REALLY controlled, forget California, look at Japan. Now there is a nation where guns are truly controlled, and guess what, it is probably the safest developed nation in the planet.
Moreover, if it was true that more guns = less crime, then why isn't the U.S. the safest nation on Earth? We have over 30% of all the guns in the world in the hands of private citizens, far more than any other nation.
elsamuraiguapo 2 years ago

HatrXx78 2 years ago
So if you're going to try and compare the U.S. or any other state where there is a legal civilian market, compare it to a state where there is NO civilian market. China is obviously the best example. A country with over 4 times the population of the U.S. yet it has far less gun crime. And before you say anything, unlike Japan, China does have a lot of poverty!
Of course they do have a different belief system though. They're not like some Americans who carry guns to compensate for something...
elsamuraiguapo 2 years ago
Sigh... yet again you bring up a good point in my behalf.
HatrXx78 2 years ago
You're obviously confused. I'm speaking of gun crimes and gun related fatalities here, and you're bringing up crime in general. I never said removing guns would eliminate ALL crime, only that *complete* restriction of guns results in less gun crime.
Stop being an evasive little prick and admit it.
"If guns are scarce they will use other means."
And how is that not an improvement already? Firearms augment an individual's ability to destroy life more than any other tool.
elsamuraiguapo 2 years ago
Well no kidding if you "eliminate" something it will lessen it's use. If you eliminate cars there will be less accidents... no kidding. Get out of the third grade please. Let's pretend for one instant that the majority of murder is not by other means. There are roughly 5,000 gun murders in the US and 16,000 murders total. Removing guns will hardly stop that, as people will turn to the already more popular other means.
HatrXx78 2 years ago
"Well no kidding if you "eliminate" something it will lessen it's use." Well good, now that we're on the same page, you must also agree with me that increasing the amount of guns will ultimately increase the amount of gun crime.
5,000/16,000 seems like a pretty large percentage to me? What is that, like around 35%? I disagree that removing guns will not lower that number. Let's also not forget about non-fatal shootings, and other gun crimes like armed robberies.
elsamuraiguapo 2 years ago
Soooo, what you are telling me in your reasoning... if someone wants to kill another person....if guns are illegal... they are going to say "I'd fucking kill you, but guns aren't available so I guess not..." Please, get a clue... If I want you dead... you are already gone, you just don't klnow it yet, and knife, gun, or strangled it's going to happen.
HatrXx78 2 years ago
No, my reasoning is that guns make it ridiculously easy for anyone to destroy another person. A five your old could pick up a gun, move his finger back a couple inches and kill an adult. Could he do the same with a knife? Unlikely.
Of course there are some absolutely determined to murder someone and wouldn't be dissuaded by not having a gun, but there are also those who commit crimes in the heat of the moment, especially when they have a gun readily available to facilitate their act.
elsamuraiguapo 2 years ago
"Stop being an evasive little prick and admit it." Honestly? name calling? hahaha typical. Evading what? You haven't made a valid point yet.
HatrXx78 2 years ago
guns are generally noisy and attract attention from witnesses and nearby police officers. Especially where I live, as there is a strictly enforced ban on civilian use of silencers. If I were a murderer, I would shy away from using a firearm, as it would not leave enough time to clean up and escape (and witnesses would see me escape) before the cops arrive. In wars, guns kill better, but in a war, killing is legal, but guns are not the best weapon for committing a homicide.
thegameulost 2 years ago
By the way, I'm not surprised about the negative comments you've made about cops.
You libertarians/capitalists love to delegitimize anything to do with "community" or "public" in favor of selfish individualism.
elsamuraiguapo 2 years ago
Soo, you are saying that burglary, armed robbery, domestic assault, assaults, car jackings, and any other crime you are listing doesnt involve a citizen that would have benefited from having a means to defend themselves? Not only is that ignorant, but it shows that you truly do believe that people are beneath you... that's great... exactly what we need another cop with an attitude.
HatrXx78 2 years ago 2
"By the way, I'm not surprised about the negative comments you've made about cops." Side topic... cops more than anyone else in society...are in a position where they need to uphold the HIGHEST standards... yet we are faced with a system in which police protect thier
own and fail in "protecting" individual rights. Why is police corruption and abuse so common? Hmmm? I think its the kids who got picked on that want power in adult life. I'LL SHOW THEM!!! Whatever dude...
HatrXx78 2 years ago
Not to mention the area you are in is one of the worst in the nation for corruption... how many times now has the LAPD been sued for police brutality? How many times have they been under investigation for corruption? Please... get out of your deluded shell.
HatrXx78 2 years ago
By the same token, you communists try to delegitimize anything to do with the individual in favor of a bunch of hive-minding sheepies slaving away for an ineffective system (that's why Americans pwned Soviet Russia) that mistreats all members (except the corrupt dictator and his friends) equally.
thegameulost 2 years ago
Slaving away? You mean what the majority of Americans do so that a tiny minority of elite corporate executives can make billions off of everyone else's hard work?
Sorry, but socialism is a far more democratic way of running the economy.
Capitalism does not reward hard work, it rewards those who have manipulated the system, and exploit others. Capitalism is a dog eat dog, Social Darwinist society.
elsamuraiguapo 2 years ago
America is far from true capitalism. Regrettably, the american government actually props up companies that are failing due to incompetence on the part of overpaid executives. A truly capitalist nation would let those idiots and their mismanaged businesses fail and give way to competently run businesses. Capitalist governments have a policy of MINIMAL or NO intervention, not intervention on the part of CEOs. That does not describe dumbfuckistan.
thegameulost 2 years ago
besides: It's a proven fact: capitalism works. Communism doesn't.
thegameulost 2 years ago
Who the fuck is bringing up communism here, besides you? SOCIALISM works. Look at Sweden and Denmark, these are socialist countries that have higher standards of living than the U.S.
Also, if you want true capitalism than you're a fool. Let's regress to the 19th century where we have child labor, 18 hour work days, and no minimum wage, because it was that "pesky government" than but a stop to all of that.
elsamuraiguapo 2 years ago
Capitalism actually DOES promote a higher standard of living. You just have to not be too dumb or too lazy to get a proper education and become the boss if you want that higher standard of living to apply to you.
thegameulost 2 years ago
How does that promote a higher quality of living for the masses. See, in your opinion the so called "boss" should lead a better life simply because he's the one cracking the whip?
It's the workers that are that are responsible for all of a company's productivity, not the executives. They just sit on their asses and rake in the cash by cutting costs everywhere they can. This includes paying their workers next to nothing, and not giving them proper benefits.
elsamuraiguapo 2 years ago
First off....do some research, Sweden and Denmark are NOT Socialist...they are Social Democratic states... they have a free economy the same as the US. Businesses are privately owned. The only difference is that they have a high income tax to provide for the general welfare. If you want to call that "Socialist" then you might as well include the US in that because we pay the highest taxes per capita in the world and most of it goes to social programs.
HatrXx78 2 years ago
Your point is? Even if they are not completely socialist, they're definitely examples of how socialism does work.
They may have to pay like 60% income taxes, but in return everyone gets all their basic needs met, which is why those nations have a higher standard of living for the majority of their citizens.
Which is what really matters - what is best for the majority, rather than the small nonconformist group that desire more.
elsamuraiguapo 2 years ago
You obviously have never been in a position of leadership... If you think being in charge is sitting back you have no clue. As for being paid properly... are you kidding? Americans enjoy the highest wages and benefits in the world.. this is why so many companies can't make a profit here and leave to go overseas to places like China where wages border on slave labor.
HatrXx78 2 years ago
I fail to see your point. The elimination of guns does nothing to curb crime. A gun does not have an aura that makes people near it do wrong. They are CRIMINALS because of their mentality. If guns are scarce they will use other means. The difference is a person allowed to carry for defense can protect themselves. This is why guns are known as "force multipliers". The great equalizer. Funny how you socialists claim to want to help people, but the first thing you do is make them defenseless. Why?
HatrXx78 2 years ago
It also stands out loud and clear that you believe you are better than people. You openly proclaim that you are interested in law enforcement. What makes a police officer any better than anyone else? All a cop is, is a civilian given a badge...that's it. You want to disarm everyone, but arm yourself? Hypocrisy, I love it. It's wonderful how police feel the need to have a weapon...why? If the need is there, why not a responsible citizen? Compensating? Seems like you are the one who wants a badge.
HatrXx78 2 years ago
First of all, I don't want to become a cop to arm myself. If I wanted to arm myself, I could have already done so.
Second of all, there is a huge difference between the average person and a cop. The average person doesn't drive around at 3:00AM in the worst part of town and respond to dangerous calls. Law enforcement officers carry guns out of necessity.
That being said, if the U.S. was like the U.K. where the police don't carry guns (because they don't need to), I wouldn't mind that at all.
elsamuraiguapo 2 years ago
So, the average person is not allowed to be out at night? Many people are out at night...but I guess a cop is special because he wears a badge. If he "needs" a gun for protection then the "need" is there for anyone. Police brutality, personal rights violations, corruption...There is far too many reasons to blindly trust someone simply because they wear a badge. If police want more respect, then they need to start "policing" their own.
HatrXx78 2 years ago
