I remember this day. My brothers were both at friends houses, my Dad was at a party for the 500 and I couldnt go with him. My mom and I were eating Mcdonalds. I remember just screaming and jumping.

IMO this was the last daytona 500 that was worth watching.. (not because im a junior fan) they should just call it the daytona, talladega sprint race because they always have cautions within 25 to go because of multiple reasons. I miss the old days when the last half of the race was strung out and they duked out with the best cars of that day.. now its more luck than sheer skill or performance.. also agree with the daylight thing.. just my opinion but that dont mean shit.. lol

To me, Junior's biggest win wasn't this race, it was at the same track, the 2001 Pepsi 400. I love this win, but watching the 400 brings tears to my eyes even 9 years later.

I say Dale Earnhardt Jr was good before his sonama crash in the Rolex series in 04. He just isnt the same since then. Sure he had a great season in 06, but I just dont see the driver I saw in him before the crash. It ruined his career.

i liked it better when the 500 ended during daylight they need to stop this under the lights thing for the 500 we have the july daytona race to do that i believe they need to go back to it ending in the daylight

i completely agree. people say jr has had several bad years. his only bad years are 07 and 09, dont really remember 05 too much. but jr's popularity makes everything a big deal. it dont matter, he's gonna much better next year since they signed lance to a full time contract

FOX used to have the 500 every other year. In 2001, 2003, 2005, and in 2007. I'm not sure which channel it was on in 2006, but eventually FOX got it where they have the 500 every year. NBC had the 500 in 2002 & 2004.
