I am deeply impressed by this vocal version of the beautiful song.
I can't help but this song brings always tears in my eyes. An anthem of passion... for love, homecoming... the words speak straight from the heart... It is also a song for longing for peace because it was sung by Maori soldiers as they were sent to the war in 1917 in Europe.
I am Australian, but if these people don't have the most beautiful culture in the world then I'm not here. Toured NZ and must say I thought they were as fine as people as any on the planet. Can't wait to go back there where half my heart now is.
I miss you New Zealand.. Listening to this beautiful waiata, my heart fills with good sorrow for my home, my whanau, my friends and for the beautiful Waikato landscape, the Kaimai ranges and the West Coast of Raglan. New Zealand, you will always have my aroha and my allegiance.
this a beautiful maori girl from st josepgs maori girls college singing a maori love song its absolutely gorgeous if any one knows where i can find this on cd mail me duncanosborne@hotmail.com
Lol, I remember growing up with this album and all the others! I was 7 when we got this album- 1997... ever since then I thought Maisey was the shiz! And she is! She proved NZ Idol WRONG i te mea he miharo ona mo te ao katoa- ka pai e miss Te Arawa Ngati Awa :)
hurry, hurry, hurry home love, hurry back to Rotorua, through the mountains and the valley, hurry home to me, ,,,i know i know...you have to go....please hurry back home love....i miss you so...i miss you so.....
So SO lovely, one of my band introduced me to this song, when I sung Your Cheatin Heart, now we are going to sing this, such a beautiful stunning melody, This is the sweetest version I have heard. :-D
All i hear as i reminisce is ........ "CRRAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCCKKKKKK it," accompanied by flaying arms and the unforgettable stare, that only she could have possessed. ..... but i now know what it was cracking ... Such a distinctive sound , regardless of the generations i can still hear that distinctive "st joe's" sound anywhere, anytime and anyplace .. I O Mahi Katoa Mahia ,,
This song is beautiful!

A teacher in my primary school in Singapore shared with us this Maori song with English translation.
I forget song lyrics of any song but if there's a Maori song, Pokarekare Ana is the one I look for.
