  • This is great stuff. I love the creativity -- using the tech from the time. Just imagine what these guys could have done, given our current technology. Just awesome fun.

  • does anyone the names of the guy and gal that are playing with kurt, james and paul in that video?

That girl isnt the same from 1988 videos (whats on you mind and walking away) right?

  • @Deathtank75 Both are gals. The brunette is Kristin Leader and the blonde is Pamela Brustman.

  • @elizabeth71 wow? thanks for the info! so pamela brustman is the girl still was with them in 1988 album right? we can see her in the videos of whats on your mind and walking away? isnt it?

  • @Deathtank75 Nope. That was Amanda Kramer in the 1988 stuff.

  • My sister is in this video!

  • @boblovesmusic what? who is she?

  • @boblovesmusic Get me a signed copy of this vhs tape. Please.

  • Man, I didn't realize that InSoc was so .... DEVOLVED! (And coming from a huge DEVO fan, that's a good thing to be.)

  • fantástico

  • This is great! Up until a few hours ago i didn't know there was Info Soc material released prior to the Tommy Boy era..i'm finding out they have at least 2 albums on the wide angle label dating back to 1983..and this song? man, it's so different from the major label debut...it's just mind boggling...and i love this track..if you can...i'd love to hear some more of the 'creatures of influence' album...please post.

  • First TimeI hear this song, I found interesting reading about it in wikipedia that Kurt Harland directed this videos and the budget was ZERO for the filming, they probably used a cheap VHS Camera and a TK80 to to the "Graphics"" lol .... not bad for a zero budget and early 80's technology!

  • hauhauhauh esse video é mais velho do q eu! NICE ver o Insoc tão novinhos :)))

  • NOTE TO ALL INSOC FANS: I suppose you will find this interesting. The band has just released "Apocryphon: Electro Roots 1982-1985". It is a 2-CD compilation of their early material (The InSoc EP + Creatures of Influence + lots of rare/live tracks), and a 30-page full-color booklet with photographs of the band from those days.

Just 20 bux at the band's site.

  • Tis worth every penny, too. Plus you get a cool sticker. I put it on my Wii-tar :D

  • Or if you were one of the lucky fans who prepaid for it before it was released, it was also autographed by all three members!

  • That's cool only $20..i'm just learning that they had material prior to being on Tommy Boy..I knew about the Think Tank (forgot which track..something that later appeared on Hack, tho) and A.K.A. stuff (cruel loving, all you ever told were lies) which hasn't surfaced on anything except vinyl, to my knowledge? Your thoughts?

  • @nightsdreamparadox Yeah I have that. Thinking about getting another one just to hold onto just in case. ;-)>

  • I to was part of the C-A-D network in the mid 90`s.Hey CAT are you out there? Im still living in Osw.NY INSOC are the best

  • Wow!!!...esto si que es 1 joya para los fans!!! xD

  • Wow where did you get this? Awesome! I can't believe how young they look. I just caught their show in S.F. It was a blast. Kurt is such an eccentric guy.

  • I bought the limited edition VHS tape containing this, The Swamp, and And So It Goes from the Control-Alt-Delete (C-A-D) Network in late-1996.

  • Cool! Thanks for posting. I noticed you're from SF. Did you get the catch the show at DNA this month?

  • Yep, I was at the show at DNA! I had a great time! :)

  • : ) So did I. My husband and I got there super early. We were like 2nd in line. So we right up in front of Jim Cassidy. (bass player)Also got to meet him after. Nice guy! I asked him about a possible tour, he said he didn't know. Wasn't that show a blast? Their website has pics of that show. Did you get to see the "think" car out front of the club? Nice talking to you : )

  • actually.. armbands!?!?!?

    COULD IT BE...

    THE SYNTHESIZER NAZIS!?

  • Hahahaha, no kidding.

My god, they look like kids in that video.

  • yaaaay dorky clothing synthesizer party in a warehouse!! =D

  • Wow! This was a great song! Too bad they couldn't have figured out a way to put this into the more top 40 albums. I just watched the video for How Long and it's like watching a different group! I love them either way, but this is a much better song.

  • Rocking that 16-column digital text effect! Awesome find.

  • God, look at how young Kurt is!

  • I always enjoyed when they'd play old tracks like this at the live shows... you could tell who the radio junkies were cuz they just don't get what they'd never heard before. :)

  • They sound more DEVO than ever. I always could hear thier new wave roots. Tommy Boy made them go Freestyle. Great song

  • am I the only one who thinks this sounds sort of like Throught Being Cool ? I guess i am....

  • It's called Through Being Cool and that's what I mean by DEVO sounding.

  • alright. It was kind of late over here when I posted that last comment so I added that 'T' to the title by mistake.

ha ha not only do you hear their new wave roots in their first two releases you hear their house, hiphop, and club influences. lol I have had such an urge to just do about a 30 minute mix of the several songs from both releases.

  • That would definately be worth hearing. The weirdest thing about that band is that thier music was also concidered Freestyle, because they were on Tommyboy records with groups like TKA and others.

  • wooooooow it's really rare

  • Everyone so young...with a weird touch of Stan Ridgeway in there. Cool offering, thanks!

  • Kurt (yellow)

    Paul (orange)

    James (blue)

    Pamela (light blue)

    Kristin (orange)

    Did I get it right?

  • ^^ahh...it came out in '83? Pretty cool song.

  • When did this song come out? Was this a solo project Kurt did? I don't remember this song, but pretty cool.

  • This wasn't solo. Afaik - this was from their FIRST record, prior to signing with Tommy Boy when they did the first album we all are familiar with - I've been trying to get a copy of it, no luck yet. Only 200 or so printed back'n'the'day. ;/

I'll always have fond memories of the quirky, tongue-in-cheak, cyberpunk/tech, synthy new-romantic sound of Insoc... well, thats the best way I can describe them off the top of my head.

  • yeah, this song is from Creatures of Influence. You can find it on soulseek

  • The Creatures version is a bit different and sung by Murat Konar. This one is off the promo 12" EP.

  • Thank you for posting this! All this resurgence of such a good band. YAY

  • kurt novinho e de cabelo curto
