  • Jel.

  • This game and Another World are the first two ever video games that got me playing computers, still to this day. ...

Before the likes of Doom 1, or Wolfenstein 3d, etc

Game like this on Amiga 500+ took my interest an creativity and inspiration to new places, that would of never been imagined if I had not played them..

  • In my dreams, there is only one hero ..

  • Did this game have the main character making friends with an alien?? One of the subplots that I remember was the hesitation of whether the alien can be trusted or not, in part bc there were doppelgangers running around in the game and it wasn't always easy to know who was who but, the alien does end up helping him and even saving his life at the end of the game.

Was this the only Flashback, or was this a part of a series/did it have sequels, prequels, etc.?

  • I have seen this numerous times, rated as many times, have allready written a couple of comments but i will say it one more time:This is a work of genious. You had the right kind of inspiration and it carried on to this beautiful excecution.

  • @orcsheaddriller

Thx for comment, It good to hear that this is still being watched and appreciated. This is by far my most anticipated and succesful video that ive done to date. Hope i can make another tribute to a video games with the same quality. I started making those video when i watched some tribute from the user DownsideUpNut which sadly as vanished from the youtube community.

  • Great job!!!

The scenery of New Washington was my favourite ever... also Starlight city on Sonic1

  • it is a flashback! it's from blade runner!

  • for what platforms was this game made? dos also?

  • as far as i know it was also on snes, sega genesis, amiga, CDI , 3do and the jaguar.

  • me and a friend of mine used to stay up all night playing this game when i was younger...havent seen him in years...i miss you chris aarons

  • one of the greatest vids of one of the greatest games ever. Nice work dude.

  • o' ja reko' komentarisete muziku,a oni igricu tzttzttz :D

  • Oh, this brings back such good memories. Thanks for posting this.

  • Very nice, I play in that game when I have my Amiga, it's as good as Another World :)

  • Really really great, reminds me about the very best times, thanks u so much !!!!!

  • What track is it, please?

I've read through comments, but the ones I found aren't the one heard here.

  • Too bad I can't edit - I found the track.

For other people looking for it it's End Title theme of Blade Runner soundtrack by Vangelis.

  • I Loved this game!

  • Sweet video. Track suits the video very well.

It has a nice nostalgic feeling :)

    Good job!

  • Great work! One of the best composers ever, Vangelis combined with best game ever, Flashback. I'm an enthusiast of Amiga computers and it was one of my favourite games, just next to adventure game, Universe. Maybe one day, someone will make a movie "Flashback" or "Universe". Scenarios of old games are good for making the movies, don't You think?

  • Agreed, but what is the game Universe, never heard of it before ?

  • An adventure game that boasted to be able to display 256 colours on your Amiga screen simultaneusly. Its story came right out of the golden age of science fiction and it was very fun to play.Still,i dont know if i want my favourite games to become movies,to many efforts turned out to be crap.Just play them again and enjoy...

  • Very nice video, I love Flashback and Vangelis, great choice.

  • Best game ever. Best movie ever. Best soundtrack ever. FACT

  • This is a classic, Thanks for the video!!!!

  • Excellent work, man. You definitely matched the perfect soundtrack to a game that's been my favorite for 12 years. And I was only ten when we got the game for our old Mac Performa 578. Since then, we gave away the computer, but we still have Flashback.

  • Magic music, magic game, so magic video.... Congratulations!

  • i have no idea what this is but its trippy and i love it

  • I bought the soundtrack of Blade Runner, this version sounds different do you know in wich album is found this version of the song?? Thanks

  • The version of the Blade Runner OST used in this video was produced by Vangelis. It's quite different from the version that you have. Your copy is probably not as "synthy" as the version used here.

  • I know, but do you know if there is some place to found this version, I have heard this before but not in a CD.

  • This video is amazing man. You have mixed one of the best soundtracks ever with one of my favourite games of all time. The music mixes brilliantly with the game. Great stuff

  • great match, flashback and bladerunner music

  • Good stuff!

  • Vangelis has the best music!

  • What is this game about?

  • It is a 1994 video game called Flashback:the search for an identity and it was a platform/adventure.The story is about a man,Conrad who has lost his memory and, while trying to recover it AND stay alive, uncovers a vast galactic conspiracy and sets out to foil it.Great storytelling, excellent animation, top notch gameplay,a true gem of a game from the time when french developers kicked butt.Best selling French video game of all time.Play it if you can find it and make it run on your PC.

  • Rumor has it a flashback remake is in the works, If done properly could quite possibly be the best game ever made.

  • btw thx for the comments ,it very apreciated

  • Thanks for this brilliant tribute to a nice pastime of mine - I unfortunately can't play Flashback anymore due to operating system limitations. Can I ask what the music is when the final credits are rolling? I don't think it's part of the Vangelis track.

  • it Metallic Rain Performed by Vangelis and Jean Michel Jarre

  • Thanks for the response.

  • sure you can! You can try the sega genesis port, which is very faithful. Use the fusion emulator.

  • I played my copy of "Flashback" on PC-DOS, but thanks for the advice anyway.

  • thanks for a great flashback to my lost youth! one of the best games ever.. the enviroment and graphic style is so unique and ahead of its time.. awesome!

  • Great video! :D

Flashback is the best game. My favorite :).

It reminds me good old days, when I was young.

  • I 've just finished playing the game on a SEGA genesis emulator for the 8th time or so. It's been so many years but I still say that it's my all time favorite game ever!

Thank you colo118 for this truly great video (by the way, Blade Runner is also my favorite) and many thanks to Paul Cuisset and DSI for the memories! ..snif! :)

  • how odd... this is my favorite game (that and OOTW), and my favorite artist as well.

  • HAHAHAH THE BEST VIDEO GAME OF MY YOUTH AND THE BEST COMPOSER OF MY DREAMS!!! Awesome man!

  • Great editing! Flashback had a lot of influence from Blade Runner, but the main influences were certainly the Schwarzenegger sci-fi movies like Total Recall, The Running Man and Terminator.

  • i remember i had a 286 and this game would stop just after the intro! i really wanted to play it and never had the chance. altough had a similar game called ANOTHER WORLD.

    good job

  • Very good job. I liked it a lot. Best game I ever played besides Archimedean Dinasty.

  • All Your Base...

    Are Belong to Us!!!

  • top draw game , i couldnt play a game as quality as this and not complete it =:)

  • yeah i try it too at the beginning it was interesting but short time later i found the game boring .The camera was the worst part of the game. They should have keeped the open ending of Flashback. Some did the same mistake with Another World with Heart of the alien wich has one of the most disapointing ending in any video games. But HOTA was much better than FOB.

  • Ne one got the sequel ending? Fade to Black?

  • yeah but fade to black was redundant no need for it

  • I don't remember half those cut-sceans mabey cos I had it on Mega-Drive can someone confirm this?

  • I had it on Mega Drive also! I remember these scenes! Was a revolutionary game! I loved it completed it with my dad when i was like 6 lol!

  • Ah yes. well for some reson there are more cut-sceans on the PC version of the game (maybe they couldn't fit them all on the 16bit cartrage not enough mem). e.g. conrad looking back on his bike in the first C.S. was not on the MD vertion. i only found this out a year or two ago when i downloaded it for the pc.

All so whats with the red t-shirt in this vid maybe another PC MD variation (MD one conrad wearing white T)

    hope this helps your question.

  • Delphine made some great games, btw. but they also made shaq-fu

  • I loved this game, never got very far.

  • it was a great game and is, really reminds me also of abe's odyssee which came a lot later

  • Great game. I spent so many hours playing this game. I got to the last level but could never beat it. I also never seen the ending so its cool to see you added it on there. I like the music you added but I would like to have seen it with the original sounds and music. I wonder if I can find a walkthrough video of this game...

  • yeah indeed it very similar game except for the ending which is kinda different.I think it a great game. You can find it at Home of The Underdogs because i think it now an abandonware.

  • (For the Amiga, I meant) :)

  • Great :) Check out the OnEscapee video here on YouTube. That was released sometime after, but very similar. Great game.

    Steve

  • Great editing! I'd forgotten so much about this game

  • Snes ? Yeahh right, this game was made first for Amiga... this is only such a crappy conversion. Enyway, music fit excatly videos. :)

  • I used to play the SNES version :P. thanks so much for uploading this--great memories!! i remeber always being so short on credits in the game, and the game show part was sooo frustrating!! thanks again-great game

  • what can i say.. i had no idea that there were other true fans of this game out there..i love it so much.. the storyline the gameplay the lot.. absolute clasic.. your video woz brilliant mate.. perfect music to go with it.. well done!!

  • thx for the comments folks its very apreciated.Yeah indeed this game has it all, the story, the gameplay, the score and the level design.A true masterpiece that shouldnt be forgetted.

  • Very good!I love this game!

  • thanks i have all time permutes this with the game 'another world'...yes i was very young

  • hello this this is a good game but I don't know what is a game name:D help pls

  • The game is called 'Flashback', for the SNES

  • great game. good resume you got there. good work.

  • one of the best games i hav played.

  • Amazing game, way ahead of its time and really set the standard.

  • loved that, it was really heard. And I got the original French version! Always in need of translator!

  • I read an article somewhere that the developers of Flashback were heavy inspired by Bladerunner, and thats why they gave the colour of the coat the same as deckard's!

  • Brilliant game, still looks amazing doesent it!

  • Yeah the vector-like graphics in this game make it a timeless classic. there is a 15th aniversary remake of Another World coming out this year too btw. Worth looking into :)

  • Very good game, although i remember how it was hard like hell.

  • like what you've done gere. One of the best games. 'Syndicate' for the Amiga was good too (although it was crap on the Megadrive and Nintendo).
