That's exactly the way a sporty set up car should handle. 1 rear inside wheel off the ground is a good sign. Rear stepping out when taking foot off throttle and weight transferring to the front is expected in a sporty set up. Touring cars anyone? This guy is definitepy not a car person and doing the review like an old man...I'm 34.
Consumer Reports is virtually the ONLY negative review for this award-winning vehicle from around the world. I will am inclined to go with the majority view from car enthusiast publications globally that this is a great vehicle. Consumer Reports tests cars like they test appliances -- and in the process often miss the mark in their auto reviews. By the way, this vehicle is far from cramped inside.....
This is a spot on review. Steering is weight heavily and not very practical vs. competition. The back seat is cramped, the boot is small and the roof line makes tall items in back or tall people in front more cramped. The glass roof but gets hot easily on a sunny day if left open. The center console is laggy. The seats are side bolstered too heavily. The engine has good pep though. The price kills it vs. the Q5, X3, Grand Cherokee XC60 when priced apples to apples. Reliability of the LR i
From the same outfit who's best comment about the Lotus Elise was "the engine buzz is unpleasant". There are better reviews about this car than this one.
to be honest i find this review a little to critical and a little nit picky. have to give land rover its dues trying something completely new and different to what they normally make so for a first attempt its quite good and the wing mirrors thing i think is a legal matter ive heard they have to be in proportions of the car i remember hearing.
I am a fan of Consumer Reports; they usually give the real truth with a car unlike other reviewers who just give what people want to hear. That being said, I think they went overkill in this review. This vehicle is just the right size for a daily driver. It combines Land Rover's famous off road capabilities in a vehicle that is the right size and is also much more efficient than their other offerings.
@consumerreports Wow, acceleration in ''pretty quick''.. and fuel economy is pretty good? Couldn't be bothered to do any actual work and give real results?
This whole review was nothing but whining which is pitiful seeing how good this thing is shown to perform in yalls competitors reviews of this vehicle.
what an 'american' review! Land Rover has made a fun car, that has won accolades from many different car magazines.. what a tool... loose some weight fatty americans and you might fit into it.. and the tail coming out under hard cornering is fun, not dangerous!
@rohanuva Not when there is a deer in the road or a larger vehicle that decided to cut the corner a little. I agree with you on the fact that it is fun though...
Cocking a back wheel and lift-off oversteer ARE good handling characteristics. And the shifter isn't "fussy" its different. Despite all of these, in my opinion, stupid arguments, it is still a very interesting and cool car and that was not mentioned enough.
i love range rovers and landrovers this one makes my love even higher and you can equip it to 50,000 dollars which is exactly like a vw tiguan equipped that high!nice job land rover!
You guys still letting this goof-ball Mutchler host these videos??? Come on CR, give me a chance, I will blow this guy away!!!! He says he is an engineer, but he rarely talks about the engineering that goes into these modern vehicles... what's the point?
agree that emergency handling should better.. i agree with you and with the cost. i will get something better than that with the money. but i can't get over the styling.. keep me thinking, i might get one but should wait for couple years.
it will have great re-sell value, also people wouldnt buy this because of its little issues, they'll buy it because they just want one, similar to the mini,
You're right! This is a great competitor to BMW X3, Mercedes M-Class, and Audi Q5. The shifter's Jaguar-esque. Unlike the German competition, you can go off-road with the Evoque.

how is 50k expensive? The diesel engine will save you so much on gaz. he forgot to mention 40mpg
All European SUVs are way over 50k, even lexus which are quite shit

I don't like its shifter. The servo motors will go bad and it will not rise.

gear shifter is "fussy"? unless you are an idiot, this is the easiest way of shifting. If this is fussy, everything is fussy.

now if consumerreports made a car it would be the best vehicle in the whole world.
