You're correct and religion will not have any impact unless it is understood profoundly however,I'd say we still do need some experts professional in divine issues to direct the seeker's path into the light.

It is again the same matter of the patient and physician but quite distinct.

this is not a total analogy, paitient and doctor, to become doctor you have to study basic science even the basic science are not that easy to understand, but in quran clearly say we sent you quran in a clear language ,because it is reduced so avam can understand it, so this is a right analogy so in most cases just by studing quran one can understand the basic therfore no need for a special person to interprate quran for me.
