  • Patriot Freedom Drive...LOL. They should come with an american flag already painted in the rear window. Silly.

  • So what is your 0-60 time?

  • Why did it redline? Is it a CVT transmission?

  • @c500amg

Guess c500 does not realize this was a video of a "petrol" gas engine...

  • @ionengine OMG I can´t even remember I typed that and I don´t know why I have typed it because this clearly isn´t a diesel engine.

    Excuse me for that;)

  • why is your other 0-60 vid faster, this is much slower

  • @sergsrt8 This is not the ideal conditions. Inside were a lot of people and the car was heavy.

  • @Zpinua oh, lol my bad

  • My patriot has a shiftable CVT so you can make it into a semi-manual..

My patriot actually seems a lot faster than this one.. lol

  • same with mine, seemed like it accelerated a lot quicker than this.

  • @englshmn

Well, really, "shiftable" as in preset "gears".

But yeah, i owned a car with CVT before and it akward sometimes.

  • not to sound dumb, but what is WOT?

Personally I think it's kinda neat to see 15th Century Tech brought into the 21st. I'm guessing that it'd be like flying a plane where you have no gears, just throttle. maybe oversimplified, but it make some sense in my mind.

  • Theoretically speaking a combustion motor is most efficient when running at near 100%

CVT's are great for economy. The Patriot has some of the best fuel mileage in its class.

  • @SaGalv cvt is not found in race cars its found in fuel efficient cars and its reving a 6000 which is low it wont damage the engine because its electronics limits it

  • It's up there all the time because he is flooring it.

  • to lose a lot of the problems with the CVT, you can use the Autostick feature. your CVT will emulate 6 gears to make it accelerate just like a conventional transmission.

  • CVT's are only efficient in the sense that they have less moving parts and are made to be more liable over a conventional automatic. However, CVT has the same parasitic losses a reg autobox has. The only thing efficient about it, is the fact it can cruise at a slightly lower rpm at any given speed when your foot isn't down to the floor. The 5 speed is a much better unit in this vehicle. If you look at the EPA mileage results, the manual 4x4 gets 3-5mpg better over the CVT.

  • so it just holds it at redline? wont that damage the motor after a while? glad my mom bought the 5 spd one, cuase the cvt seems like garbage,

  • It only holds it at redline during WOT acceleration.

  • yeh, from about 30 till whenever u let off, say you wanna go up a hill faster, and u need to have it floored or almost floored. it would be redlining the whole time.

  • it holds just under red line and as rudolph said only during WOT

if your always running WOT your motor wont last all that long anyway

  • like everyone said, it's only if you have the gas pedal pushed all the way down, it'll keep the engine where it makes the most power, right below redline for most cars

  • i suppose so, still seems wierd though. i honestly couldnt stand a car that doesnt shift, even in automatics though i much perfer a manual i still rather have gears...

  • yea, i agree... it's just strange. A friend of mine just got one, i'm gunna ask him to give it some gas next time to see a CVT in person haha... i prefer shifting tho, this is just strange... like somethings wrong...

  • what engen is that?

  • Trail rated engine for north america is the 2.4L 'world engine'. I wish ChyCo would make a 5 speed that could handle the low range gearing!

  • the trail rated version is slower because of the gearing. the 2wd and regular 4wd systems are much faster.

  • are you sure.... it has lower gearing in the North. or CVT2L so it should accel faster in my opinion. and driving them both i thought proved this. but correct me if im wrong!

  • wow. that is slow.

  • I don't like CVT trannies though, they may be more efficient but there's just something fundamentally wrong for me about a car that doesn't shift. To hear the revs climb, that is part of the joy of driving. I guess it'd be alright for around town though.

  • Amen to that.

  • @sirbuick i felt this way at first man till i got one i am in love with cvt real sluggish off the line but at a 20 roll it moves

  • Pontiac??? I have an 06 Grand Cherokee Limited 5.7

  • Neigh! Clown...

  • and what do u have a shitty pontiac?

  • @omglolJU eh...bet you haven't been laid before.

  • are you from USA like me? the speedometer is in miles per hour

  • No, i live in Ukraine. However i ordered the car from the USA since Trail Rated is on sale only at you.

  • how much you pay?

  • The Jeep is intended for off-roading. The Jeep is heavier. The patriot it not the sportscar. Compare it to others SUV. All of them have practically identical dynamics.

On it video the salon had 4 passengers + small luggage.

  • then this must be fairly quick with one person in it.i love the patriot

  • It agree. But this is second video. First is here:

watch?v=a_RaIEzSj0A&feature=related. However first has bad quality, therefore i have created also it :).

  • SLOW! ITS A CVT

  • SLOW! Caliber is faster!
