I've seen the movie with this rescore here many times, and the more I hear it the more I feel like it kind of fits "better" than the original score. Not saying I dislike the original; my ONLY problem with the original score is that the old fasion music it includes seems to go along with an old arty classic movie, and Metropolis isn't an old arty classy movie, its dark, prophetic, and timeless. The film deserves something a bit darker and more mysterious, and that's what this rescore here did.
I watched the whole movie with the rescore, ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! I'd like to get the movie on DVD, but there's a bunch of different versions of it, can anybody link me to the restorant that was used here or a longer version if there is one?
i cant even watch the original version after watching this....i have tickets to see the complete version tonight and i'll be thrown off by the old score that does nothing to match up with the emotions of the scenes.....this is a damn good score.
This is great. Purists can think what they want, but if the composer had the means to some of our modern devices back then, I'm sure the score would have more of this sort of tone. Totally appropriate, makes the movie better! Ebb and flow, mood, change, not just soaring orchestra monotone mood for every scene. Only critique, though I have no right to say, is, I understand bringing the score full circle at the end, but I was hoping to hear maybe a hybrid of a more uplifting new melody, then melt.
I'm still flipping out over this. It makes my heart sing to see it in such good shape. I hope they do this to many of the others that are degrading... even the copies of the copies are degraded now. Thanks again for posting this.

I just saw this live at Hobart Town Australia. It was the most fantastic cinematic experience of my life. This was AWESOME!!!!!

I am totally in love with this whole project! I can't wait to see it live in Hobart! Would you ever consider doing something similar for Nosferatu?

Wondrous. Please consider a rescore of a condensed, B&W widescreen version of "Forbidden Planet"? with captions, title cards, etc.?

Excellent. I found this by accident. Which means it was probably meant to be.
Movies today suck ass. No meaning or substance what-soever. And the actors today suck, some of them are way overpaid.

Will you adapt your rescore to the new restored version of Metropolis and release a updated version ?
Im talking about the newest restoration version with the missing scenes put back in which were rediscovered in 2008 ?

Nice; but having heard the original score on KINO. I can say; it does not have the impact.

The buildup of the music is fantastic. Definitely had a chills-up-the-spine moment there!
