ah yeah i did this, the only way to get the headdress when you stand in the circle etc is if you have atleast 1 candycane shard in your inventory, otherwise it wont work because it gets collected

Yeah, stand in the circle, and you will get presents in your inventory. Upon the end, you will get the head item piece. (Rudi for Dwayna, the Grentch hat for Grenth)
