  • I know exactly what you mean, Mark! I haven't spent quite as many years on this Earth as you & I adore the time-honored gospel hymns! The new praise music are great for their praise to the Lord, but having been raised w/my Grandmother & Mother singing the old hymns, I don't know the melodies & verses of the new music so it doesn't seem to resonate w/me as much. All praise to the Lord (both old & new) are great & shouldn't be shunned, but what churches need to do is mix the old w/the new.

  • I love the old hymns myself and I'm about the same age as Mark, but I have to admit I am equally excited and moved in the Spirit by many of the new songs that are out there. History has shown that every generation has thier own music and it usually was criticized by the previous generation. I like a mix of old & new as long as it is consisten with God's Word. Thanks for keeping me thinking and helping me to grow in my walk with Jesus, you both are a blessing.

  • I'll forever love the old hymns!

  • its true, we need to knw where we came from where we are and where we are going or we are no where

  • Excellent! This ones gonna make me think. Tony has some good points. Love the story about Einstein. Have heard it before but it's a good story about one of my heros. Gives one a little insight as to his thought process.

  • Music defines the theology.... love it brother!
