Very good technical demonstrations but there needs to be an initial movement picking the line and length of the ball for most players, the way you are just standing still and perfectly getting into position for a particular shot is not wrong but very difficult to replicate in the real world and you would have to be an exceptional world class player especially when playing fast bowling! there has to be some way to pick the line and length and get into position,
Hi i have tried your grip techinically in theory it sounds good but when i play a shot it comes more from the fingure not from the whole control and aim of my left hand. and i cant understand why is the bat is comming inside of your body. In straight drive there is no connection with your fore arm and your bat and the elbo is going seperately someware. Sorry not negative comments but the tech what u play will surely put any one in trouble. most of the shot will shooting high in the sky
Hi nice video i do have a couple of questions regarding your technique! in all of your drives your back foot raises up thus bringing your hips square the drive is a side on shot and as such you will be found out by a bowler who can swing or seam the ball. The pull shot is a High to low shot not as in this video suggests low to high the pull is a shot played on the ground if possible. other than that excllent
Thank you! Excellent point you brought up. Playing shots might look good but timing is the all important ingredient of course. What makes a batsman a good timer of the ball? Well, easy... lots and lots of practice together with proper technique. Very easy no short cuts but also no quick fixes. Face as much bowling the the nets as possible, or let someone do throw-downs pitch length throwing the ball as quickly as possible. Thousands and thousand of quality deliveries using quality technique.
Traditionally, the pull is done from outside off stump outside the shoulder, hence the term pull. The late and great Bob Woolmer viewed the pull as done waist high taking the backfoot to off stump and the front foot opens the body to pull the ball to deep mid wicket/deep square leg region. The hook shot - ball is in the region of middle to leg stump and will travel towards deep square or behind for that angle. I use old school as it serves as good basics. Mr Woolmer is also spot on. Your choice!
@JLC007007 That Bob Woolmer pull shot you are talking about is more applicable to spin bowlers, particularly opp spinners, Can be done to medium pace bowling as well but you will not have much time and fast bowlers will rarely give you a ball waist high which you will have the confidence to pull that way!
@petlyunch He showed the pull and hook wrong. Pull is much more lower, like around the waist and its a grounded shot most of the times. Hook is in air, best suited for bouncers and they take the aerial route.
