@CrazyTechTime Sorry, I don't have the time right now, my full-time job is eating away most of my time + the family. I'm sure you will find someone who does it better then me.
hi thanks for the video, im thinking of getting those corsair ram sticks, well double the amount actually lol (8gb in total) and i just read in the description, you said that it didnt run to its full potential cus of the bios? i was just wondering what it was limited to, was it the voltage, latency, mhz whatever etc ?
@MistaMase102 In all Dell PC's I laid my hands on the BIOS didn't allow to adjust anything for the RAM. Maybe on their overly expensive gaming models, but I have not handled those.
@zver711 sure, im aware you cant change it in the bios, i was just wondering how the ram was restricted if you know what i mean, so if i buy those corsair sticks, will it run the full 800mhz with a cl5 latency or will it be less?
@MistaMase102 After this video was made, client picked up his PC and left the hulk of his Dell here, but I never done anything with it... to lazy to throw it out :) I don't remember really. I THINK it ran as 400 mhz with his 1600mhz Corsair sticks...
@zver711 oh right, well ive done a bit of research and im pretty sure the dell xps420 can only take pc5300 or pc6400. and ive checked out some forums and a few ppl are running 8gb (4x2gb sticks) of corsair xms2 at 800mhz with no problems so i think it should work with my pc just fine. thanks for the support anyway :)
it came with an ati radeon hd 2600 which at the time was only 1-2 years old which i thought was pretty decent. it's worked perfectly upto now, but BF3 requires 3000 series plus.
i've recently purchased an anti-static wristband and a new graphics card. i found an adm radeon hd 6450 on ebay for £30 ($45 approx.) which i think is a bargain
i was just wondering, does the dell xps 420 support this gfx card? and do i need any extra cables?
@J4K31 Always google the system requirements. AMD site states: "400 Watt or greater power supply recommended (500 Watt for AMD CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode)" XPC 420 in this video had only 350 Watt PSU, so I would not risk it. And that fact that you are going to run BF3 on a 45$ card is amusing. I guess you're trying to meet "Minimum Requirements" clause. Good luck.
@zver711 I've done some research on it. It turns out my computer's PSU is 425W
I've also found out that for gaming, the 6450 is trash. I'm glad I didn't rush into it
I've shortlisted a few GeForce GTX 550 Ti's on ebay all for about £105 ($150 approx.) which pushes the budget but I think will benefit me in the long run. It should handle any games that come out in the next decade or so, seeing as though games couldn't possibly get any better in terms of graphics
@J4K31 Yeah, 550 Ti is definitely better choice, however hoping it would handle ANY games in the next decade is a noble feat. When I play I'd like to max, or nearly max out the settings. I still have a P4 machine with a card (GeForce 4 4400Ti) that was pretty decent for its day. Those were my Battlefield 1942 days. But I definitely replaced it with another machine for gaming in '06. And that one in '09. Times are changing, so is technology. Lets hope 550 Ti holds you over for a couple of years.
HEy i have an xps 420 i am trying to put in my gtx 260 black edition and it requires two 6 pin connetors what psu shoud i buy that will fit the xps and have all the connections needed
You could buy any video card and use it with an adapter. I got ATI 6950 and as the XPS has only 1 GPU cable, with an adaptor from the SATA drives, you can have the other 6 pin connector that is missing. Even though the graphics consume pretty much, with the XPS 420 375W power supply, it's enough. I'm playing BF2 with full graphics and works charming.
@MentalReserve OTHER countries? You mean you can't find someone in YOUR country to assemble a PC for you? I know kids half my age can do it. No, I don't do international.
@MrNightwings74 I meant that this Dell was came stock with a POS 30$ ATI card. Cheap crap. I didn't say it was defective. A cheap sh*t card for a machine that cost someone around 2000$ when it came out. Don't buy OEM PC, hoping you will get quality parts, only for home/office use.
That's a pretty good board. It uses the nvidia nforce 750i chipset. Nice video mang. What is your client going to do with that dell case? He should give it to me. =)
Man, my internet is up again...can you imagine its been in and out for like 10 days? I goddamn hate Optimum. They sent 6 (!) repairmen already and keep bouncing the job around. As for that Dell case he is probably gonna chuck it together with the mobo. The mobo I think is faulty anyways. I may keep that pathetic 350 Watt PSU...but I'm not sure even for what. Maybe gonna dump with the rest. I already got a 1000 Watt Dell PSU from XPS 720 laying on the shelve somewhere...

Looking forward to seeing it all done. :-)
