That dead battery is going to take a good 4 hours before it gets enough charge to turn over the engine. It might start if you wait for the battery to recover. After at least 12 hours it should be totally recovered.
If you were working maintenance on one of my buildings I wouldnt trust you to empty my trash cans without fouling something up. You ever think the battery needed water? charging a dry battery is pointless. You can't tell he difference, btwn a chattering starter solenoid, and a spinning starter? You had access to the battery and most of the starter, and yet, I never saw you check for loose or dirty connections. It takes 30 secs cranking, when volts is clearly low - you still aren't sure???
you must stop with trying to crank the engine when you already knows that the battery is dead.
when you keep trying you can kill the starter.the same thing happens to us on one of our tractors and we had to replace the battery and starter because whe keep trying to get it started!
"Hmm, wonder why its not starting? Let try it, *20 seconds. Hmm, look's like a dead battery, lemme try it again. Ok, lets turn on the charger and see if it cranks up after a 5 second charge. Son of a bitch! Nope, guess its not the battery, engine must be seized, shit! Mother fucker!"
Good thing you had a camera to show people how to damage a starter !!!!!! Took you 10 seconds to figure out the battery was dead? OMG.... Keep trying some more maybe it will start on its own. LOL
you are a real dumb ass, batteries go flat overtime when not used, and when flat they take awhile to charge up before you can get enough juice to start something, and it didn't go flat coz of the preheater and plus it's not a preheater it glow plugs you dumb ass
Yeah, that's really trashing the starter solenoid contacts doing that...

You are an idiot. Leave the thing alone, you are gonna wear the starter solenoid contacts out and its not gonna start on ya when it needed.

Some diesel engines have thermo start (pre heat), It ignites a bit of diesel into the intake manifold to warm the intake. Almost like a grid heater.
AgentHog 2 years ago
OR since it is a 24/7 heater, it could be a block heater.
AgentHog 2 years ago
there are other ways of preheating by using the mains power.
change the battery.

oucccchhhhhhhhhhhhh battery dead!! get new battery and you may need a new solenoid after that beating
jimmy21122 2 years ago
you know if the battery is dead in the first second, that's just plain sloppy treatment of a set.
trevorfarren 3 years ago 2
(The interstate battery is the other problem) and "Hammering" the solenoid by holding the switch like that will burn the contactor inside it...
