  • Thank god for James Earl Jones and George Lucas brilliance...

  • 0:23 i thought he said "start taking this shit apart!!" LMAOO

  • Like it or not, that is your choice! I have been lucky to have worked for George Lucas and am simply amazed at how he strives to continually achieve brilliance in his work.. I was also lucky to meet and sit down with David Prowse and as he states, he is Darth Vader... Wow! (and got a signed photo with him too! Now if I could only create a small music video of a Star Wars Parody, I can truly die a loyal star wars fan...

  • The JEJ voiceover is simply excellent, but there is something wonderful about hearing Prowse's Bristolian burr coming from that suit. Maybe its cos I'm from Bristol and its a comforting sound to me, my dad knew Dave when he was a bouncer at a local club, and they have similar accents.

  • The difference is that when he changed Darth Vader's voice it actually improved the movie.

  • I can see why he replaced the voice of Vader, Jones is a much more suited evil villain.

  • U R PART OF THE REBEL ALYIANCE AN A TRAITOR. Takeheraway

  • James Earl Jones all the way!! bro

  • What makes it worse is the fact Prowse didn't even know his voice had been dubbed over until he saw it at the premiere.

  • thank God for James Earl Jones!!

  • Dave Prowse's voice was never used on screen, and was never meant to be used on screen. Dave had the tall body for the suit while James Earl Jones had the menacing voice. I say Darth Vader is simply too much of a character for one actor to play :P

  • @OmarGudmunds thats actually not true, prowse's voice was meant to b used on screen but during rehearsals lucas saw it all together he thought it just didnt work and therefore hired jones

  • @mrgravedancer666 Oh ok then, Well at least he decided not to use it :P But thanks for the correction mate :)

  • @OmarGudmunds That's why several actors have portrayed him throughout his various incarnations.

  • Everybody paints Lucas as a monster and a fiend when little things like Ewoks blinking are put into the movies and changes are made. But people find it hysterical that this was supposed to be the Original voice of Vader. If it wasn't for George making this CHANGE, Vader would only be half of the icon he is today. Very hypocritical if you ask me. Poor poor Lucas

  • @iBlah6666 there's no comparison between making changes during production as is the normal process of film making and making changes after 30 years.

Makes matters much worse that they were terrible changes.

  • Star Wars wouldnt be Star Wars without The guy who did Vaders GOOD voice

  • for one this voice wasnt in the original movies. The guy who voiced vader was the original voice thats one thing that was not changed in the movie. They needed a more menacing sounding voice than the voice the actor had.

  • lmao his voice makes vadar sound like a pussy

  • Video should have ended at 0:23

  • i didnt know this was family guy star wars

  • They should have left him with his English voice. lol.

  • I don't know what the uploader is talking about. That's the actual voice of the actor. Lucas said he was just a big, tenor, Scottish man. That's what he sounds like. James Earl Jones and David Prowse played the role of Darth Vader together, and made it the most legendary film character of all time.

  • @RaidonSama hes being a bitch. thats explained it.

  • where did you get this??

  • imagine him saying im your father or i find your lack of faith disturbing

  • Sounds kinda Stewie Griffin

  • @GrayShark09 TOTALLY what I was thinking!!!

  • Sounds kinda Stewie Griffin

  • He sounds like when Rick Moranis tries to make Dark Helmet sound imposing.

  • With a character (and villain) of his stature, The voice was essentially the most important part of Darth Vader, considering that he's expressionless...

I think James Earl Jones suited the role perfectly.

  • It sounds like a Monthy Python Parody! :)

  • He sounds like a british nazi! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.............

  • Apparently this was the gay bodyguard from A Clockwork Orange

  • since whn does vader say plz "find those plans plz"

  • You don't have to repeat it 50 times dude, we get the idea.

  • @brkdwnxx I agree. If Darth Vader had grown up to become Hayden Christensen, this voice would have been perfect.

  • is that really David Prowse's voice? he sounds like Rick Moranis doing Dark Helmet in Spaceballs

  • for continuity, it might have worked, Prowses' voice certainly sounds more like Anakin (HC)

  • that was the voice of the guy in the Darth Vader costume. he had to say the lines to cue the other actors. it was never going to be the actual voice.

  • @pmares79 Prowse was never told his voice wouldn't be used in the movie.

  • Rick Morranis was short eh

  • it sounds like eddie murphy..lol

  • "You are part of the Rebel AllOYance and a trai'or"

  • This was his voice (Davis Prowse's) THROUGH that Vader mask though. Had it been done in studio where you can edit the pitch and all other aspects of the voice who knows how it would have turned out. They could have made his voice deeper and saved the 7 thousand dollars for one movie and whatever they paid for the others. The voice never matched the character for me. I mean its an obvious non caucasian mans voice but in the 2nd movie he claims to be the father of an obvious non mixed Luke.wtf

  • @SmokeyPostal2 Vader wouldn't be effective with a voice like that.

  • @SmokeyPostal2 That's possibly one of the most idiotic posts I've ever read.

  • Thank Christ they got James Earl Jones.

  • african vader?

  • He sounds like Dark Helmet.

  • Now that's a Proper Job

  • To be fair as some others already touched on (most notaly Family Guy) James Earl Jones couldn't completely embody Vader either both physically and with the voice. Jones did the voice perfectly, but Prowse was definately fitting for the role physically. Also did they use his original voice for the monster Baron Frankenstein made in the last Hammer Frankenstein film? If that was his voice it sounded alot different than in here and was pretty intimidating (more so than the make-up was at least).

  • I dont know what some of these other fools are saying, but this voice obviously is a fucking joke BUAHBauHhAHHuh2765$%!!!!!! pPOP POp nickuhH!!!

  • I'm surprised how many people seem to think this video is serious...

I always thought it was a pretty obvious joke about the changes George Lucas has made to the Star Wars movies, and the fanboys' reactions to those changes.

But mainly this video is just about how freaking bizarre it is to hear that voice coming from the Vader suit...

    "Take her away!" LOL

  • @atomicdancer This IS the voice of the character who played Darth vader (David Prowse), he performed all the dialogue so they could cue correctly. :) Sounds very freeky tho!

  • @atomicdancer It *is* serious. Search and you'll find many interviews about that.

  • @atomicdancer ??? That was David Prowse, the original Darth Vader before he was replaced with James Earl Jones

  • @atomicdancer its not a joke

  • if you are no using my voice, put the costume in that fatso james earl jones for what i car, sincerely: David Prowse

  • sounds like a 30 year old stewie griffin. no offense to mr. prowse.

  • No offense to Prowse, but it sounds terrible.

  • david prowse has a west country bristol accent, but george lucas thought he was scottish at first

  • I always piss myself laughing when I hear this. David Prowse as Darth Vader's voice makes Star Wars into a British sitcom.

  • He sounds like Dark Helmet from Spaceballs.

  • you dont need to repeat it, its extremely annoying. that aside, its a shame these appear to be the only avaliable prowse voicing vader moments, id love to see all 3 films with prowse doing vader, would be so funny

  • Omg. Do not change the voice because it so doesn't match the character. Good thing George Lucas wanted to perfect this and changed it. The acting is good but wow couldn't he pretend to do a different voice at least. I think Prowse's voice would have worked better for someone that wasn't so intimidating as Vader.

  • Why put the music on in the background? It just kills it

  • Wow, just goes to show what a huge impact James Earl Jones had on the audience's perception of Darth Vader.

  • The Emperor: Lord Vader, you must pursue and capture the rebel ship immediately!

Darth Vader: Boot I'm giving 'er all she's got! I cannot break the laws of physics!

  • This sounds like a skinny, white kid doing a spoof of Darth Vader.

  • Vader sounds like John malkovich...lol

  • This Vader sounds like he could be a hairdresser lol.

  • James Earl Jones FTW!!!!!!!

  • gay vader

  • GOD this voice would have SUCKED!!!!!

  • I find your lack of Ciderrrr disturbing!

  • Gay Vader in gay wars.

  • I could be mistaken but I remember the footage I saw about it and remember it being "I killed your father." but hey I know there are bigger star wars fans out there than me :o)

  • @superslowmonte hate to show my nerdom here but David Prowse never spoke that line his line was "Luke I killed your father." then James Earl Jones read the line as it appears in the movie. Before the scene was shot George took Mark to the side and told him what the line was going to be. It was very secret and hush hush back then

  • @Ca5ualkilla Actually it was "Obi Wan killed your father".

  • Dear god... Why would you want David Prowse to voice Vader? You're asking for a terrible movie!

  • His voice doesn't quite fit as Vader, but this one actor has more body language than most films combined.

  • I think one of the re-releases should have an option to hear the original Darth Vader voice... that qualifies as a comedy in my opinion... could you imagine this voice in the infamous, "I am your father" line?

  • rofl vader was more menacing even in lego star wars than here idk y ur giving jones so much trash in the description

  • The "you are part of a rebel alliance" bit sounds like Derek Zoolander...

  • They re-re-re-re-re-released this movie in every available format, with every available extra EXCEPT a full version using this voice.

  • Geez .. I seriously can't envision this voice characterization speaking any of the classic lines, I just realized how much the franchise depends on the voice of Darth, amazing! The difference between a good and genius movie, all those sets, costumes, effects would have been so diminished without James Earl Jones - that much cannot be overstated. Proof it's about personalities being in balance with CGI wizardry that makes a movie a sustained classic EP IV,V,VI.

  • "I WANT THEM AELAIV!"

"Yoo ahr paht of deh Rybyl Eleync aend ae traetor. Taek haer aewai!"

    I ROFLed. Really, I did.

  • Thumbs up if after hearing this you bow down to George Lucas for dumping the voice

  • holy crap i'm so glad they dumped david prowse and found james earl jones to do vaders voice

  • No offense to Mr. Prowse, but If his Vader sounds a bit gay.

  • oh my.... what a shity voice....

  • It's a good thing Lucas saw something

  • "I am trainer of dolphin!!"-Ace Ventura

  • I love the physicality of David Prowse for Vader because his presnece is so powerful that it commands the respect the character deserves but if you think they should have kept his voice I would have to disagree with you entirely because James Earl Jones combined with Prowse physical appeatence is what made the whole package complete. And all those elements make the Darth Vader character epic and unforgetable.

  • @TheGreatZurEnRaah dude this issue should not even be talked about. that guy's voice is a fucking joke for darth vader. i half thought for a sec there that this literally was a joke.

  • I would really love a version of Starwars where the entire time it is David Prowse instead of James Earl Jones XD

  • James Earl Jones made this movie epic

  • wow amazing what casting can do.

  • Sorry but the voice does not match the character. He might have been a good actor but the simple fact remains that James Earl Jones made Darth Vader imposing.

  • I am trainer of dolphin!!

  • @bobmarleyisgod1 i jus came up with sum british-ish name

  • scott vader?

  • if darth vader werent walking around in a big black suit, i'd be a little intimidated. sure its a little snobbish, but he's got an edge

  • hey, mr. angry fan, the movies woudl have sucked without james earl jones!!!

  • thank god for your voice james earl jones..

  • Thank God they didn't use this guy's voice,....but if they had,...we wouldn't be able to imagine anyone else doing the voice of Vader.

  • @JPVero25 Ok captain dumbass, this is the reall audio of the movie, James Ear Jones was chosen to do the voice over work for Vader, the voice you are hearing is David Prowse, the ACTOR playing vador. They voiced over his voice because lets be honest, is just plain stupid. This is not a joke, this is fucking real.

  • Ironically, would have fit better with the prequel version of Vader.

  • Credit to the stormtroopers for not laughing. Poor guy sounds like a kid sometimes.

James Earl Jones was a better choice.

  • you got to feel sorry for Mr. Prowse. Nobody remembers him.

  • Not really very intimidating with a west country accent... can't help but feel it would have been a brilliant move to keep it in the final cut though ("the force is strong with this 'un" etc).

  • George you just keep tinkering if that's what you want to do. The fans clamoured for the original editions on DVD, they finally got them... so the've got nothing to complain about anymore. fuck 'em... 'raped my childhood' indeed, those people are insane.

  • Oh man. It just struck me how much of an impact James Earl Jones's voice had on the film's success. Darth Vader would've been a joke without it.

  • Czar Vader

  • sounds like triumph the insult dog

  • @atomicdancer- umm James Earl Jones was the voice when the movie first came out he never changed that, he knew David Prowse's voice wasn't right.... he just needed Prowse to be in the suit and say the lines so people knew what was going on

  • True story (Google it): in order to preserve the secret ending of Empire Strikes Back ("I am your father!"), the dialogue Prowse spoke on-set was "Obi-Wan killed your father," to which Luke screamed, "No, that's impossible!" Therefore, any leaks from the set into the pre-internet fan community would be that Kenobi killed Luke's father. Only Lucas, Jones and Hamill knew what the line was actually going to be.

  • ...is this serious? XD

  • @kisaro88 Yes, David Prowse WAS indeed the original voice of Darth Vader. Check out the youtube vid: David Prowse Interview, Oct. 9th 2009.

  • "pwn those tapes piece ælive!"

  • yeah, this is bullshit. its a douchebag being stupid!!

  • AHHAHAAH XD id have laughed my ass off XD

  • Stop changing things? You wanted them to keep David Prowse's voice? Sorry, but Prowse's voice does not go with this character.

  • Erm, yeah... speaking as an English guy.. even though the English accent is used a lot for "baddies"... THIS IS SHIT WITHOUT JAMES EARL JONES.

  • @plasticpaint

How about Sauron from Lord of the Rings? Would it have been best to give him a high alto voice when he spoke? No. And sure, the British bad guy is a common one, but the voice has to fit the character. This isn't like Cutler Beckett from Pirates of the Caribbean. Do you know they changed Darth Maul's voice to a gruffer, more menacing tone? Ray Park also had a higher pitched voice not appropriate for his character.

  • James Earl Jones has ALWAYS been the voice of Darth Vader. There was never any release, theatrical or home video, that features David Prowse as the voice. David Prowse was simply the guy in the suit. He says the lines and all, but it was all dubbed over by Jones for the theatrical release.

  • @TieLandProductions Apparently the entire movie was filmed with David Prowse voice. It was a last minute decision to incorporate Jame Earl Jone's voice as Darth Vader.

  • i cant believe some idiot on the bonus features of Episode 4 actaully thought that Prowses accent was scottish when it was cleary a west country bristol accent i mean WTF lol

  • Wow thank god for James earl jones

  • yea, real shit. wow.

  • This is sheer class, Dave Prowse rules, and hes a nice man you know, he never goes around obliterating planets, hell walk u across the road safely tho, ;)

  • He did NOT get obsessive, not in this case anyway. David Prowse was never meant to voice Vader.

  • God that was hilarious

  • Bristolian Darth Vader FTW!!!

  • haha I wouldn't have been scared of him with this voice :)

  • the west country is where the pirate accent originates from.

  • Is this a joke?

  • @Garoninja1 nopee he was hired because of his hight... but his voice sucked

  • @Garoninja1 it's not. this is how Darth Vader sounded before James Earl Jones did the voice.

  • @Garoninja1

No, actually, it his real voice. It's the orignal actor.

  • for a tall man he has a puny voice.

  • I want to hear him say

    LONESTAR!

  • "fabulous!"

  • Why don't you search for Justin Lee Collins, then you will hear the Bristol accent, or Vicky Pollard from Little Britain, or Stephen Merchant from Extras.

  • I think he's from Bristol, The UK has THE yes people; THE most diverse span of accents in the world. Seriously, there are over 30 in england alone. Counting, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland you begin to get the picture.

  • HOLY SHIT IT'S . . . DARK HELMET!!!

  • he's talking in a mask you fools

  • Hahaha, Darth Fink!

  • the way he says "rebel alliance" sounds so weird...James Earl Jones is much better and fits well with the overall appearance. Dave Prowse might have an imposing stature, but his voice is really not that imposing...and I'm being nice here.

  • this dude sounds like shit, he makes vader sound like a pussy ass lil faggot, scottish lil bitch, james earl jones is the mayne...

  • @akallstar06

David Prowse is from the south west of England, not Scotland.

  • @akallstar06 Prowse is from south west england

  • @akallstar06 Scottish????????? He's got a Bristol accent, the opposite end of the UK!!!!!!!!!! Ha, ha.

  • we found those tapes

  • Darth Vader...but with a lishp...

  • pardon the pun Sir Jones gave soul to this great icon

I just don't like some of the changes in the special editions especially when they replaced sebastian shaw with hayden in ROTJ and the too hi tech prequels plus of course poor choice for the roles of anakin and amidala

  • movie woulda been shit without james....

  • Thank god for you James

  • reminds me of spaceballs too.

  • Sounds like a puff.

  • @CuddlyBadger Maybe you want to tell everyone in the West country that because thats the west country accent.

  • BAHAAHAHAHAHA Sounds like rick moranis in spaceballs!!!!!!

  • @musicfreak1138 it is like lord helmet from space balls hahaha

  • According to a short clip from a documentary (on Youtube), they never intended to use Prowse's voice. They were using him only as the man in the suit and he said his lines in order for the other actors to play their parts. From the beginning, their plan was to voice it over (the eventually decided on James Earl Jones).

I could be wrong, but that is what the documentary said.

  • The problem is, they never told Prowse they weren't going to use his voice. They all knew, even prowse, that a redubbing would be needed because of what it sounded like through the mask, but he had no idea that his voice was not going to be used. I think Lucas did, but bs'd his way through it until Prowse gets a telegram about it after the movie was released in the U.S.

  • The Rebel Alliance xDDD

    The Rebel Alliance

    Rebel Alliance

    Take her away

    LMFAO...!

  • HAHAHA

    Wow, that's really horrible.

  • he sounds very gay, it almost looks like it's intentionally funny

  • sounds very bad, not bad enough ^^
