  • Brilliant! JMCO is useful for so much stuff!

  • You are good at explaining and showing what you are doing! Simple and straight forward perfect!

  • my goodness that was very helpful. i never thought to k1p1 from the back! i knew most of that cast on but only for knits. thanks for the upload!!!!

  • Nice job! The video's well done and the technique is so much easier than other methods I've attempted. Thank you!

  • Before now, I was pretty discouraged about ever getting a tubular cast-on right; I never used it in a project before this, but practiced the waste yarn method quite a bit, with uneven results.

Since I knit a LOT of toe up socks, Judy's Magic Cast On is my go-to method ... your video is going to change how I cast on for cuff down socks and garments FOREVER! Many, many thanks for making the video and sharing it with other knitters. I can;t wait to share it with others!

  • I love this video!! Thanks! Just what I needed

  • Just used it on the collar of my Diminishing Rib Cardigan and it looks splendid. I used the "traditional" method first but it was really loose and sloppy, even going down two needle sizes. This method makes a lovely and stretchy but even stitched cast on.

    Thanks!

  • this video is awesme, I just enjoy you so much. what type of needles are you using?, they look like they have such a fine wire or plastic on them. not something i have seen here in canada

  • Omg! This is my fav cast on now. No more messy edges for me. No more waste yarn either. I found I can even do 2x2 rib by going up a needle sz for the first needle then k2 from the front and p2 from the back. It isn't as perfect as 1x1 but almost! Yay, thanks.

  • Today I answered my own question below re: Mitten cuffs or toque bottoms. I experimented with using the same size needle for the cuff and the result was that it was not stretchable to allow a hand going in and out. When I started with larger needles for the 1st part, then changed to 2 sizes smaller needle for the K1 P1 part it turned out perfectly. Note: when loop knitting- leave a longer tail to weave the 1st two rows. Very professional look, I'm very satisfied.

  • Very well done video. I'm always looking for different ways to do projects and I will definately use this method. Thanks for sharing. Would you ever use this for mitten tops or toques? I'm wondering if it is stretchy enough for those projects?

  • I sure love watching you knit Continental method. I wish you were close by to help me.

Very nice and calming, thank you.

  • This is so nice, thanks for posting it. I wonder, do you know if this could be fashioned for a 2X2 ribbing tubular cast on? It seems there should be a way to do it!

  • At fist I was a bit confused which side was up when starting to knit in the round - but after I figured it out, this became my favorite cast on method.

The edge is really beautiful and I use it for other ribbings as well - though it is slightly visible. And its really much easier than it looks. ^_~

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Very nicely done. The pacing is good and the instructions are clear. Thanks for sharing!
