I also believe the most justifiable criticism that can be applied to Silva is that he's always has fought in what seems to be his lowest possible weight class. I do not feel that that applies as much to GSP, not saying he can't put on a few pounds but he's not as skinny as Silva. It's one of the things that made Fedor great, not fighting in a lighter division.

The Silva Sonnen situation is weird.
Silva can easily beat Sonnen standing up but Sonnen can easily take Silva down. Once they're down, Sonnen can throw strikes but they don't inflict pain, however they do trick the ref in to thinking Chael is working, preventing a forced stand-up.
What does this all equal?

I'd Much rather see a Silva vs Jon Jones at 205 and a GSP vs Sonnen at 185... These fights would be more interesting. Silva would maul GSP it wouldn't even go past Round 1 so throw that fight out for the sake of our money and the sake of GSP's reputation.

But asking the normally-230lb Silva to cut down to ww might be a bit too much. Sonnen did have some success taking Silva down, and with a huge weight cut, he might experience the same treatment from GSP. Now unlike Sonnen, who couldn't finish, GSP has sick submission skills.

@MrTwat4444 Well Anderson Silva is 6'2", Sonnen 6'1" and GSP is 5'10". I think GSP is a bit of a smaller build then the 2 others. I also believe the most justifiable criticism that can be applied to Silva is that he's always has fought in what seems to be his lowest possible weight class. I do not feel that that applies as much to GSP, not saying he can't put on a few pounds but he's not as skinny as Silva. It's one of the things that made Fedor great, not fighting in a lighter division.
