This is just a dispute between the parents. Divorce brings out the worst in people. The child is Jewish and shouldn't be forced into a different religion against the wishes of it's primary carer. As Cenk said - would the reaction have been different if it was being forced into a Mosque?
If this case is brought before a jury I would predict the odds of conviction at somewhere between 0 and -1. If this case is brought before a judge I would put the odds of a conviction at 1 in 4. If there is a conviction I would put the odds of being overturned on appeal at 99%.

You can be as set in your ways all you want. Judaism allows for the person to find their own path. The girl can easily choose her own religion later on. Not if she is baptized though thats a brand of that religion.
We do have freedom of religion but, they had a verbal contract. No matter what you say they agreed on the raising of that child in that manor. They would both have to agree on any other path. This is like saying the mother should run of with the daughter and not be sought after.
@cameronmullins So if a verbal contract is binding, how much more a written contract like Marriage. If the written contract can be broken why not the verbal. It is a weak double standard. Baptizing a child does not make a follower of Christ let alone a follower of God through Judiasm. I am sure the child in years to come will make her own choice. Rather than living and let live for the well being of the child, these two people hate each other and are using the child to club the other.
@Halvey8 Yes but to null a contractual marriage you need to go to a court and actually have a judge dissolve the relationship. The wife should have done the same but she did not. So in fact she could be held for damages for the fucking up of the child. Hell I think all religion should be tossed out of the county but it will not ever be done. So instead of saying live and let live you have basically argued for what has sparked many wars over the past well existence of religions.
@cameronmullins Trying to connect the dots here!? Parents hating each other using belief systems imposed upon their child to beat on each other..to..toss all religion out & I am arguing for wars!! Wow! Quite the leap! The freedom you have today through our laws is founded in, comes from Judeo-Christian philosophy and belief. Not all truth is equal. Hmm, I can see why some people might think taking your kid to a Catholic Priest might be considered child abuse, just the same as letting a Mohel visit your child.

@Duaney211987 You're alluding to something Jefferson said in a letter to some Danbury Baptists. The same guy who as a legislator and then as President did everything from support laws against witchcraft, sodomy, and Sabbath breaking, to designating government funds to support building Catholic churches and schools for Native American Indians.
Her parents can take her to any form of religious organisation. In the end she is the one who is going to make the decision to follow a particular faith or no-faith at all. It is as simple as that! Parents should tell their kids what they believe. But they should also allow them to be exposed to the information of other faiths as well which they are inevitably going to when they grow up!
its not the parents choice what the kid believes in they should make there own choice and not be told how things are but shown the different options so they can eventually make there own decision
Parents "force" thier child to do many things that would/could be considered illgal if they were adults...crazy thing is they are not adults, the parent is in charge, and the parents are responsible for them and their well being.
@mlking213 You cannot force faith onto anyone. They arent dogs. Kids should have their freedom of religious discovery. Just because they are kids doesnt mean they should be 100% controlled on a leash with a muzzle and forced to believe what everyone else does.
The world doesnt work that way...and never will. Children do what their parents say even if you or I believe in what they're making them do is right or not. For the most part as long it isn't considered emotional abuse or physical parents are allowed to do what they want.
And at 18 if you hate the way your parents treat you you have the full option to leave but, most people do not so....
@AmusingYeti Well, like I told the other guy, go to a park, school and tell that to the kids parents and see what they tell you. They have the right to how they want to raise the child to the best of their abilities and is their responsibility not yours! this is not Communist China on telling you how to raise a family. Are you going to complaint on why a parent is being over protective with their child's curfew, who they hang with and were they go?
@cartel0025 You clearly misread my post. Im solely talking about religious beliefs. Since when did curfews come into this? Parents obviously should control their kids curfew time etc... but they cannot force a child to believe in a religion just because they do. They should give the child the choice to believe in what they wish to. You cannot force faith onto people its rediculous. Say if i came over to you and said "Im forcing you to believe in this" You would tell me to get lost.
@AmusingYeti Yes, I may have mistook it for something else. But regardless parents will continue to do so complicating matters whether be religion, political and customs when the parents split.
I think deciding a child's religion for him or her is absurd in a country that presses the importance of religious freedom, but he went against a court order. A particularly iffy court order which infringed upon an inalienable right or two, but he went against it.
he violated a restraining order, that's why he was arrested. it has nothing to do with the church, though no child should be allowed to go to church, they're too young to make a logical decision and may not understand the violent thins that churches like to preach about, + most religious leaders are absolutely insane and like touching young children....
nobody should be allowed to force thier children to go to church. or a synagogue. or a mosque. or temples or shrines. or get baptised, circumsized, or have thier thetan levels tested. wait until the kids are old enough to make thier own decisions. wait till you kids don't believe in santa and then see if they want to believe in satan.
@jimbritttn right on man damn catholics. when will they learn. thier way of worshiping a 2000 year old carpenter is wrong and they are gonna go straight to hell.
@WesSideCali no it wouldnt be at all almost every religion has some bad seeds that made the whole religion look bad but their are a few good ones and just like religions there are some bad atheist who really dont care and probably wouldnt think twice about sending him to jail just so they could say wheres your God now
Don't appreciate the tagged-on annotation at the end for "Christians praying for people to die." Nothing to do with this clip besides the word "Christian." I'd like to see a little more balance toward Christians in the future. Just saying "not all Christians are like this" just isn't enough when this is your only clip that even remotely seems neutral toward Christians.
why the fuck would you pour water on your baby in the first place? dont raise your child using religion. raise them teaching them right from wrong. seriously. my father brought me to church when i was 9 (he was christian) but my mom told me beforehand to try to think for myself and not to follow it blindly and if i had questions about things i could ask her (she was an atheist). my brother hid every sunday. from then on i hid with him. church scared me.
If you go ahead with this ruling, you should keep all children from going to any kind of church, mosque, synagogue, etc., until they turn 18, in order to protect them from being indoctrinated until they can choose to do it by themselves.
He should go to jail, here's y. While the judgment may have been wrong it was still made and insteed of getting it repealed he chose to break this restraining order illegally knowing it was illegal he even brought a camera crew. So I think the judgment at first was wrong but I think this guy needs to realize that u can't just brake laws if u don't like them.
Okay, here's the thing: There was no contract on whether or not the daughter was to be Jewish or Catholic, correct? Why was the restraining order even set to begin with? What, exactly, is the harm in have your daughter baptized? Was the restraining order set by the same Jewish Judge? If so, then yes, I do believe there to be some sort of predisposition from the start.
The kids three you could tell her the cookie monster created the world out of chocolate chips and she'd believe it let the ki make up her own mind when shes old enough to have developed a b/s detector
This is just a dispute between the parents. Divorce brings out the worst in people. The child is Jewish and shouldn't be forced into a different religion against the wishes of it's primary carer. As Cenk said - would the reaction have been different if it was being forced into a Mosque?

So now your parents are both illogical believing in a illogical religion, you must be very proud of yourself and know this
Philippians 2:10-12
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
this my dear lost friend incl. you and your sister, you can do it now or later but bow you will

Hmm, I can see why some people might think taking your kid to a Catholic Priest might be considered child abuse, just the same as letting a Mohel visit your child.

And, consider the consequences should the wife prevail...could he be arrested for buying his daughter a Christmas gift? What are be becoming as a society where two parents cannot raise a little girl without government &/or judicial intervention. I have not seen my sons in almost four years because of the lies and legal manipulations of my hyper religious ex wife.

ETworldjone 1 year ago
That's why traditionally you don't marry or even breed with those outside your faith. And here is one example.

Parents "force" thier child to do many things that would/could be considered illgal if they were adults...crazy thing is they are not adults, the parent is in charge, and the parents are responsible for them and their well being.
mlking213 1 year ago
@mlking213 You cannot force faith onto anyone. They arent dogs. Kids should have their freedom of religious discovery. Just because they are kids doesnt mean they should be 100% controlled on a leash with a muzzle and forced to believe what everyone else does.
AmusingYeti 1 year ago
@AmusingYeti
The world doesnt work that way...and never will. Children do what their parents say even if you or I believe in what they're making them do is right or not. For the most part as long it isn't considered emotional abuse or physical parents are allowed to do what they want.
And at 18 if you hate the way your parents treat you you have the full option to leave but, most people do not so....
mlking213 1 year ago
@AmusingYeti Well, like I told the other guy, go to a park, school and tell that to the kids parents and see what they tell you. They have the right to how they want to raise the child to the best of their abilities and is their responsibility not yours! this is not Communist China on telling you how to raise a family. Are you going to complaint on why a parent is being over protective with their child's curfew, who they hang with and were they go?
cartel0025 1 year ago
@cartel0025 You clearly misread my post. Im solely talking about religious beliefs. Since when did curfews come into this? Parents obviously should control their kids curfew time etc... but they cannot force a child to believe in a religion just because they do. They should give the child the choice to believe in what they wish to. You cannot force faith onto people its rediculous. Say if i came over to you and said "Im forcing you to believe in this" You would tell me to get lost.
AmusingYeti 1 year ago
@AmusingYeti Yes, I may have mistook it for something else. But regardless parents will continue to do so complicating matters whether be religion, political and customs when the parents split.
cartel0025 1 year ago
Gotta love religious compromise. Good thing the pope now says there is no Limbo for un-babtised babies.
Xwowplaya 1 year ago
I think deciding a child's religion for him or her is absurd in a country that presses the importance of religious freedom, but he went against a court order. A particularly iffy court order which infringed upon an inalienable right or two, but he went against it.
jmerridew124 1 year ago
he violated a restraining order, that's why he was arrested. it has nothing to do with the church, though no child should be allowed to go to church, they're too young to make a logical decision and may not understand the violent thins that churches like to preach about, + most religious leaders are absolutely insane and like touching young children....
leprekon1321 1 year ago
nobody should be allowed to force thier children to go to church. or a synagogue. or a mosque. or temples or shrines. or get baptised, circumsized, or have thier thetan levels tested. wait until the kids are old enough to make thier own decisions. wait till you kids don't believe in santa and then see if they want to believe in satan.

InuKag4eva 1 year ago
Okay, here's the thing: There was no contract on whether or not the daughter was to be Jewish or Catholic, correct? Why was the restraining order even set to begin with? What, exactly, is the harm in have your daughter baptized? Was the restraining order set by the same Jewish Judge? If so, then yes, I do believe there to be some sort of predisposition from the start.
