im out now and my brother just got sealed. after learning about what goes on in the temple, i think i would of got out once i got to that point, its some crazy crap. all i need is a BoM from before 1980 to show my dad the doctrinal changes. im grateful for google and science!
The battle will never be about getting existing Mormons to leave the 'Church' (even though significant numbers ARE leaving ...Google "I left the LDS" and/or "I used to be a Mormon" for better stats)..it will always be about keeping the people you know from falling into the trap.
Get your Bibles out and study up on the issues where Mormonism clearly disagrees with God's word, the Bible and existing Revelation.
No matter what Webster's or the Bible calls a "Generation" the LDS apologists are calling it whatever it takes to make the prophecy fit.
So far the LDS has stretched a "Generation" out to include the person who had the revelation and those who were alive with him plus their children and grand-children and virtually anyone who has ever read the prophecy/revelation.
In Mormonthink a "Generation" is whatever suits the the current leadership's whims.
Well since according to the D&C that revelation was given in 1832, an infant from that generation would have to be approaching 200 years old. However they will likely argue that John the Beloved or one of the 3 Nephites from the BofM who were promised to live until the Lord Returns, somehow fit the bill. There's lots of teaser revelations, like JS being told the Lord would come again when he was 85, but he didn't live that long. (Also in the D&C) Mormons still expect Missouri to be the NJerusa.
@MaryMarchNewell well said. they can't be argued with, but instinctually and by necessity resort to deception and doublemindedness. I say, don't bother with them, just try to keep your own from joining them...
@Dadutta I was born and raised, served in Russia, temple married, the whole bit. My kids and I are out now, but it took years for me to see the side of the barn that I was starring at in clear focus. Be patient with those you talk to here. They may see the light. They have to peel back a lot of black curtains and veils away from their eyes...it takes a while...
Also, President Hinkley stated that the jesus you Mormons worship is NOT the Jeus of the Bible. Meaning, you mormons worship a false jesus, one that does not exist, making the Mormon religion a false religion and NOT a Christian organization.
@sirhood2 explain to them that most Christians believe in Jesus=God, where as Mormons believe in Jesus=older brother.... They can't argue with that... when you just say they believe in a different Jesus they just get defensive and don't know what you mean. You need to clearly spell it out for them. Also their Jesus is a middleman god, with a whole line of superior gods above him. Where as most Christians believe there's just ONE god.
@IExposeMormonism Wrong! Joseph Smith was talking about HIS generation. Not THIS one. And THAT generation all died out. Proof that Mormonism is false and the Mormon church is NOT the true church. How can a church call itself a true church when their founder is a false prophet? Smith made many MANY false prophesies, which makes him a false prophet and condemns him to hell. He was a lier.
@sirhood2 I'm not a Mormon. I just know that Mormonism takes words and uses them anyway that suits them. So, when they finally get their asses entrenched there, they will say "See, "this" generation did it. In Mormonism words are not what they are to you and I..Mormon words change meaning. They can change meaning depending on who the word is applied to! .Mormon Words are slimey slippery occult mechanisms to obtain a gain
I have a better proof. Jonah prophesied that Ninevah would be destroyed. And was it? No it was not. Certain conditions changed. Ninevah repented. Jonah was upset that it made him look like a false prophet. Jonah was really put out by Ninevah not being destroyed.
A few hundred years later Ninevah was destroyed, because they stopped being at least somewhat righteous & went back to raping & hurting & torturing people.
I guess if I were the person who made the cartoon, I would be an Atheist
@AnonEmouseMan This video depicts exactly what mormonism is all about. Their founder said that God told him that a temple would be built, IN HIS GENERATION. It was never built. Even if they build it today, it still makes Smith a false prophet because he said in HIS generation. He said that HIS generation shall not pass before the temple would be built! I'm sorry, but that generation is dead and the temple is still not built. Joe Smith is a false prophet.
@sirhood2 "IF" is an interesting word. It is full of meaning. It is a small word, only two letters long, but upon that word is the choice of something happening or not. This computer would not be able to run without numerous IF THEN statements.
So look up the definition of "IF" & meditate on it, & think about it, and realize that it is a word that has a certain meaning.
Jonah said IF the people of Ninevah did not repent they would be destroyed. Everything is contingent on righteousness.
