A cone air filter has a larger surface area which means it can draw in more air, but like your standard air filter,the cone filter will need to be enclosed if it were to make any difference (needs cold air) the problem is hot air from the engine bay is taken in by the filter and this will actually make your car run slower/less efficient. People have videos on youtube with induction kits with the filter exposed to hot air, this is defeating the purpose of increasing both peformance/effieciency.

just wondering guys/gals. i have a ford ka standard. i am looking to buy a zetec-s in july. would u guys say there would be a significant difference in driving? i mean like when u put ur foot down could u really tell the difference between a KA and a ZS? any comments greatly aprecciated.

yes ive got a 1.4 zetec s and it is very quick. all ive done to it is put wider wheels and an induction kit on it and ive got 0-60 in 8 seconds. def get one mate u wont be disappointed :D

they dont do a 1.4 zetec s or a mk4 zetec s. your getting confused between zetec s (s for sigma) written on the engine and zetec s mk 5 ( s meaning sport)

zetec sport is mmk5 trim level and zetec sigma is the engine in some mk4's and standard mk5s.

and theres no way you got 0-60 in 8 seconds out of a 1.4. the standard 1.6 doe it in 9.5 and my puma engined fiesta which has had engine work only does it in 7

as blink 182 dude ranch says, yours is an SI not a zetec-s. the zetec-s trim level was only introduced in the mk5 shape, only in 1.6 guise.

A panel filter in this car is better than nearly all induction kits. The OE air system isnt too bad, so just de restrict the air box. So a panel filter does make the most difference.

I just put in a K&N panel filter in my 1.3 toyota corolla it made NO difference in the cars performance what so ever. I just wasted £50 if you ask me what a joke.

Its a corolla, not a saxo, the OE airbox on a corolla might be more restrictive than a saxos. Also did you de-restrict the airbox? extra ducting?

i bet the frp lump added a lot of power hey (155bhp standard, or something like that). anyway, u upgraded your brakes, suspension, gearbox and other stuff yet or did you do that before you fitted the lump. what power are you running by the way?? i should think it's about 170bhp+ tops. lucky you mate. :-D

yeah the FRP lump did add ALOT of power, yeah they are 150ish standard. got no idea what mine is yet though, need it on a rolling road. yeah i have a puma 1.7 gearbox, 300mm st170 front brakes and FRP rear discs. stops well. lol.

the speed aint much different with just the cat-back. iv now got the manifold to go with it now. that made well loadz of difference. i will get a video on here later if you want?
