Dude, no kidding. Emmerich contributes nothing artistically or creatively to films - he just uses proven popular ideas. And Spielberg might be the most imitated, and has directed mostly good movies, but he is seriously deficient in *great* movies to be considered "the greatest filmmaker."

@Salguine Originally it this started off with the lame-brain Gilliam talking down on Spielberg. He is my favorite director, not Emmerich. Now Emmerich is ok, but Spielberg is the greatest director of all time in the U.S. I do of course have a listing which has Ford, Hitchook, Chaplin, Zinneman, Kubrick, Wells, Hawks, Curtiz and Stevens.
