  • skip to 2:11.... just do it....

    youll thank me later

  • what cruising speed can you hold?

  • I always thin about loosing you hand when moving the propeller...

  • i have a question, what type of control system is used in this airplane ? i know u fly it with a stick, but what is the stick connected to? the mechanism....if u know it.....

    Thx.nice flying

  • @dhakagod Cables....?

  • @shaqthatwontbitebac yes, i wanted to know such details. If rods are used or cables with pulleys etc.

    PEACE

  • @dhakagod there are simmilar aircraft such as the BK1, that use pulleys and cables... rods have a tendancy to bend..... you can look atht eh BK1 at bkfliersDOTcom

  • @shaqthatwontbitebac thanks for the info. May Allah reward you

  • Wow! Skeet, what a neat little airplane. Looks like it was a lot of fun and the rate of climb is insane.

    Cheers! Buddy

  • how much? and how fast? and how long can u fly it how far?

  • What type of motor is on this Hummelbird? I'm not sure what category the Hummelbird would be under in CANADA? Anyone know?

  • It has half of a volkswagen motor. 2 cylinders. I just bought one.

  • This airplane has a McCulloch 0-100-1 4 cylinder drone engine. It also has leading edge wing tanks to feed the thirsty 2 stroke. It's for sale now on Barnstormers.

  • Has that got a variable pitch propller???

coz the prop hub looks quite big there.

  • Nope. Fixed pitch wood.

  • nice airplane but what if the engine stops in middle air?

  • The end for the poor guy hihih.

  • The airplane only weighs ~300 lbs. It glides quite well.

  • @HawleyLand can I modify this A/C to accommodate an external tank to increase its range?

  • That would be a GREAT plane to have, but I wonder what its like on a windy day?

  • im pretty mad at myself about now. I could at least have the airframe and some instrutments for the cost of my 35% Extra 300 "remote control" uh well i know what im buying next

  • Do you have to have a pilots license to fly one? and if not how old do you have to be to fly one?

  • Yes, as its not a FAR 103-Complient ultralight. Look into the Hummel UltraCruiser, pretty similar plane but can be 103 complient, if carefully built.

  • Thanks man! Looks like I'll be looking soon. Got some other stuff to take care of now. I might actually get my pilots license, but I have to be 17, and I'm only 16.

  • 2 cycle HIRTH engine?

  • No, 4 cyl, 2 cycle McCulloch 0-100-1 Drone Engine. I believe.

  • can you buy them built?

  • almost built. check there website got heaps of kits

  • When you build one of these, what's involved with inspections? Does the FAA come out to my garage and look it over, etc.?

    Can it be licensed E-LSA?

Oh... what's the range look like? The fuel cap. on the Hummel site looks like 6 gals.? Can bigger tanks be installed?

  • FAA DAR (Designated Airworthiness Examiner) must sign it off.

E-LSA only with lower power engine. This one surpassed the max speed for LSA. The stall speed is close to the limit as well.

Normal fuel is ~6gal. This one has integral fuel tanks in the leading edges and carries ~15 gal.

  • alot better sound than the vw's. High fuel consumption but worth the power.

  • Awesome plane. How much does one of those cost?

  • The hummelbird costs about 4k in materials + 3-5k for a motor and then whatever instruments you want. Oh yea, and lots of building time.

  • Wow, considering that type of good looking plane, that's not a really harsh price. Those stupid gyro-copters are 60k-70k

  • thats a good looking watson windwagon
