haha, i got stuck in a lift on command and conquer Renegade in side a nod base a few years ago ... and i was trying to get out because i'd have to go quite far back in the mission if i went to last save point ... and i suddenly realised after like hours of being stuck in there that i had to press Backspace instead of e because my brother had changed the controls

nope, the elevator is not a physical object (map/prop) it's an entity (npc material) which it buggy with collisions.
