Hydrofoil downsides? how strongly are they mounted? Some need high sustained speeds. Some when they fail, fail catastrophically. Sometimes propulsion systems need to be modified. Protruding foils increase draft, But there are a lot of advantages depending on how you design your hull. Speed loss due to cavitation is all about how a foil is finished. Usually if you have the power to go beyond 60kts, which is the cavitation limit and the foil has a mirror polish, you should be OK up to 100mph
This question has some value, i think. Why is not everyone using this. What I know is they have a speedlimmit befor cavitating, when the wing wil loose lift. My question: What is the down sides of hydrofoils?
Ones again, nice vidio.
Best to you. I hope your book will sell. (what is the title).
Great meeting to you and your wife at Jim's the other day, the video is great and would love to see more of what your up to :-) from Diana and hubby Steven Baker
Looks cool - but what is the real advantage over a conventional boat? If it is speed - are there any figures, like comparision based on the same payload and engine?
Alays been toying with the idea of putting a motor on my windsurf board. Looks cool. Love to see how you mounted the engine up closer? Thanks from Eugene in Wexford Irl.
I noticed that your boat is pitching down in the front. As you went by in the video I saw that your boat motor is "pitched in" (Botom is in too far) I bet if you clicked it out one or 2 notches on the motors mount adjustment you would get more speed.
By the sound of the motor it just seems you should be going faster. You may want to get a faster pitched prop or add a "stingray" to the motor.
Cool vid! Kinda corny though. Maybe rename to flying corn ha ha just kidding.
The reason hydrofoils have not caught on is because of bananas.

@breg77 The ability to smoothly cruise over rougher water. There's also less drag, so the fuel economy is greater.

Height sensor threw me - then I remember the front ski (first clip) -- mechanical height adjuster - seems to do the job

I like how you rigged the forward hydro foil to self correct. I'm going to use that idea myself.
