  • "Also the sheer love of making music. Har-money" wonderful Freudian slip by Mike Love, haha, and that instant of bemused reaction on the part of Brian before he reiterates Mike's point: "harmony, yeah... Forty years of harmony" Class.

  • i hate melinda

  • @Desiree50 Me too sis Brian and Marilyn Forever Go Team Marilyn

  • @Desiree50 go sis

  • You will seldom find a more uncomfortable group of people gathered in one place.

  • @Chrisdrumz LOL

  • @markcruiser64 Seriously! Knowing the history of all the players this vid makes me very uneasy. You know Mike thinks he's the shit, you know Al hates Mike, you know Brian is terrified of everybody and Melinda hates all of them. As far as David goes,he's just glad to be included.

  • @Chrisdrumz LOL it really makes no sense to me the issues between Al and Mike. They both are very positive people and love the Beach Boys music. I think things are great now but it's just bizarre to me. Yes Brian is definitely controlled by the people around him. Especially Jeff Foskett.

  • Mike Love, the Devil, is in full phoney , make some money, mode. The world will never forgive him for what cruelty he inflicted on Brian, stealing his credit and money.

  • @cws1961 yep!!!

  • @mugwamp4

NOPE!!!! I see two people here that might possibly share a brain since they can't see what's done is done. And don't stay up to date on Beach Boys news!!!

  • @75DrummerBoy stay up to date!!...its more about history mate ..just read anyththing brian has said or written about this prick especially in his auto/bio from the 90's ..have a look on utube at his appalling effort at the RRHOF speech,,the guys is a 100% fully certified wanker ..he lucked in by having brian as a cousin who has been his meal ticket all his life .fuck knows how the Beatles put up with him in India,,he must have been running low on undeserved royalty cheques...hence this stunt..,

  • @cws1961

Oh the world will never forgive him and Mike Love is the devil. Is that so? What happen was years ago. Everything is ok now. They are talking about a 50th anniversary reunion and a brand new Beach Boys album with new songs written by Brian and Mike. And I believe this world you talk about has forgiven him. This is the Beach Boys just listen to the music and "SMILE". I'm glad Mike and Bruce are still keeping the music and the name alive today!!!!!

  • This is an excellent piece of film. Brian Wilson is a shy person. I'd say he misses his brothers Dennis and Carl, even if he may not say it.

  • @BlowThemAllAway Yes, Brian is very shy. He also has said he misses both Carl and Dennis. His love is like The Warmth Of The sun.

  • @BlowThemAllAway An amazing group those Beach Boys.. An awful lot Brian's been through, still looked pretty dang good, considering... sad road they've all traveled together, but still they shine bright to me. Ahh, the memories.. My favorite I think is prrobably "I Get Around", but none of the rest are too far behind~ Love them all!

  • the things that brian said in this video, like it was good, it felt good to be together again at my house, and his acknowledgement that the boys would play together again, did he mean all that? cause just a year or so later he dismissed the idea of working with mike love and a beach boys reunion ever again, and says that to this day.

  • @relimes When this was made he was just trying to be optimistic I think. Kind of like when you meet someone and say "I'll see you around" and never get back with them. But he WILL be with The Beach Boys in 2012 for a 50th Anniversary tour. Along with Al as well.

  • @markcruiser64 A tour in 2012 i have heard nothing about, where did you hear that from? Cause i cant find any article on the internet that mentions anything about it.

  • @relimes YouTube won't let me post the link, so I will PM you with it.

  • @markcruiser64 Yeaaaa! ;))

  • Why is it you never ever see any other of the Beach Boys wives in the mix.Only that fake looking Devil red lips Melinda Bedwetter Wilson

  • @Desiree50 :)

  • @Desiree50 That mUst be a decision each of the guys had with their wives.

  • @markcruiser64 I dont think it was a decision.Its called Manipulation!

  • @Desiree50 Not sure. only ones closest to them would know that for sure.

  • @Desiree50 I agree

  • @Desiree50 You Go sis

  • That clip at the end really destryed this whole thing!

  • @M3town3 The last clip is from the Pet sounds promo film in 1966 to promote the LP.

  • @markcruiser64 I'm sure murry wilson destroyed the song and made up that video!

  • @M3town3 Murray was not involved in pet Sounds. by that time he had been fired by Brian and not a presence in the studio. I am not sure where the concept idea for the promo film came from.

  • @markcruiser64 Wasn't involved in pet sounds? he shoed up drunk at the recrding session of it without permission and sped up Caroline, No and God only knows what else he did. Don't you know anything?

  • Beach boys Forever

  • I wished David Marks said something

  • The most Awesome group ever , ever; their Album Pet Sounds was constantly played on my HiFi growing up, and it is still The Best Album In the History of Music.Brian is a musical Genus and no one can touch him. I love you Beach Boys.

    nancygayparker@yahoo .com

  • Melinda go home and watch all those kids you adopted and make Brian a sandwich you platinum blonde goldigger

  • @coolsweetgroovy Melinda is there because Brian wants and needs support from his loved ones. Brian has trouble standing up to Mike, but with Melinda there....Mike is a little on guard. Mike has been known to spout off what ever he feels at times and it can be very hurtful. Melinda is just the person to defend Brian and put Mike in his place. ;)

  • @Okiemom50 Whatever you say(simulating eye rolling)

  • @Desiree50 Thank you sis and you go and thanks for going after the other one

  • @Okiemom50 You know Brian was the one who should be fucked up mentally because of the drugs but here I think it's proven to be the opposite. Brian outshines even Mike in this interview! and it doesn't come from Melinda, it's coming from his actual well being. I think we have to thank Dr. Eugene Landy (Brian's main psychiatrist in the 80's) for this.

  • @M3town3 Your right about thanking DR Eugene Landy. He got Brian back on his feet. But it seems like Melinda wants to take the credit. She knows exactly what shes doing.SHAME ON YOU MELINDA

  • @Desiree50 Dr Landy did nobody any favors. Dr. Landy overstepped his professional boundries with Brian, and events eventually corrected.

  • @Okiemom50 Melinda the waxface golddigger is ALWAYS right up Brians ass.Probably because shes afraid he might leave her and then she wont be able to drain out his bank accounts.I think Brian can do ok for him self these days when it comes to Mike.He dont need anyone, esp.that pig Melinda who only went after Brian because who he is.Then she came up with a better idea.To adopt a bunch of kids to keep brian away from his blood children.Remember Brian blood is Blood.

  • @Desiree50 Nice grammar you have there......

  • Brian is looking around like Please tell me John Stamos isn't here nice to see him and Mike sharing a laugh i'm hoping a Beach boys reunion will happen

  • I wouldn't mind being sandwiched between all of them I love the Beach Boys don't care about what people say about Mike Love they all are still all kinds of handsome RIP Dennis and Carl

  • People stop hating on Mike Love are all you haters Team Melinda?

  • why on most interviews Brian looks like struggling to talk? is he on perpetual medication?

BTW Mike Love looks and sounds sooo annoying....

  • @brainslow Mike knows how to push Brian's buttons. Heck they are cousins. Brian knows this too. watch how they look at each other. It is obvious.

  • @brainslow i was thinking the same thing about Brian. He always seems zoned out.Seem hes suffering from auditory hallucinations and hes on some heavy meds. But he admits even withthe meds he still hears voices.I got to give him his props cause hes still able to work.I guess when he is in his own surroundings he can cope with it.Peace Desiree

  • Mike Love has thrown so much crap towards Brian & Al esp Brian- that he doesn't really deserve to make any more money by touring with them again. Sorry folks but it's true

  • @AnthonydWalsh Your opinion has been noted.

  • @AnthonydWalsh Yes.....

  • @AnthonydWalsh

Can't we just put what Mike did aside and be grateful that the music is till alive? The lawsuits with Brian and Al no longer matter. I'd rather see Mike and Bruce still touring under the Beach Boys name than the music not being performed anymore. Saw them in concert a couple years ago and it was a night to remember I loved every moment they rocked!

  • rock on david marks and the world famous markmen were there.

  • This is so awesome i hope there will be a reunion

  • @coolsweetgroovy Just heard current an interview with Al. There will be a few free concerts next year so far. keep your ears posted for anything new.

  • @markcruiser64 Ok Sir thank you

  • Brian, Mike, & Al would be a valid Beach Boys reunion...of course we miss Carl and even Dennis but you still have 3 strong Beach Boy singers...c'mon guys, do it!

  • I hope they come to Puerto Rico soon

  • How about the 50 years anniversary next year? Will Brian and Mike play together??

  • @ClubViking63 With Brian's new album coming out and getting rave reviews already, I am not sure. Only ones closest to each would know that.

  • @ClubViking63 I don't think that will happen.Brian has moved on-Mike has stood still.

  • @ClubViking63

There will be a reninion with Al,Mik and Bruce at one gig next year

    but not with Brian.

    A shame really.

    All the best

    Chimbo

    Chimbo`s Revival

  • I've got a feeling that if Mike Love had lost all those lawsuits he filed against Brian, he wouldn't have been part of this.

  • @DirkDiggler1611 The world may never know. As for a reunion in 2011, it may may more Top Secret than the government about aliens. LOL

  • Man,

Brian was so brilliant. Took lots of hits.. Parents should nuture talent! Your child may set you well off in your old age....

  • @Quadrider50 Murray had a lot of arrogance. It was from his generation. Though it made Brian withdraw into himself and be introspective of the world. I can relate. I write introspective.

  • Get David marks back with the group! Funny how Murry Wilson fired him, & in reality David Marks owned 1/5th of The Beach Boys. Murry Wilson legally worked for David! (David did say he quit, & Murry ackknowledged that, & fired him). Brian would eventually fire Murry (his dad)!!! David Marks taught Carl some great lead guitar riffs, & was actually better on lead than Carl. Murry wanted Carl to play lead.

  • Who is the idiot holding the camera cutting out David MArks?

  • i like the beach boys

  • Mike is a bastard.

  • @Dodo251 Now Now. We can only see things from the outside looking in. Remember they are family. And there is always more to a story than meets the eye.

  • @Dodo251 I've been a fan since 1976. ;-)

  • I wanted to hear more Brian and much less of Mike.

  • Study Brian's behavior. he is cautious of Mike. You can easily see it.

  • Comment removed

  • At 4:00 someone off camera says "I was asked not to participate" and Al says, "What? Get in here!". Wonder who that was?

I can take a guess as to who to him not to participate... ML.

  • I wonder if it was Dave who said that.

  • Probably was!

  • @alienhuman I'm pretty sure it was David Marks

  • @alienhuman NO that was Al saying, "What? Cut it out!!! Mike Love and Brian were arguing thats Brian saying, "I was asked not to participate!!"

  • Thta was such bullshit what happened when Al was ousted from the group by Mike. It s hould have been the other way around Al should have ousted Mike from the group!

  • Well, no doubt about it, Al has a better voice. He still sounds like Al from 1965. ;-)

  • NOticed how Mike Love purposly ignored the question "what are the chances of you playing live together again" while brian said yeah theres a chance, like Mike was gonna say Ha you can forget that!, and Al is like "who knows" whenver Mike stops being a dickhead and lets me back in the band, but replaced it with "its up to this guy here". Kinda puts alump in my throat.

  • Makes you a bit aware of the politics within the group.

  • Mike love used to look like one of the oakridge boys and Santa Claus, now he looks like John McCain on vacation!

  • Mike Love the lyricist for Devo, or at least the inspiration for their hats, lawsuit to follow :o)))

  • They may never do so- but one last time together - now that Brian really *is* back musically and emotionally, that would truly be magical-Dennis and Carl are gone, but maybe with Carls son in his place. The line up would be Brian, Bruce, Mike, Al, Joshua (Carls son), with some of Als and Brians band doing the backing. Either live, or in session, or both.

    It *would sell* definitely.

Just one last hurrah- to mark the end of an era- almost as if fate itself decrees it.

  • Cross your fingers. Lots of legal hurdles need to be worked out. Also scheduling. We'll see. PBS is making a documentary for their 50th anniversary.

  • look at 3:39, the look of disgust to Al from Mike, jeez.

  • This is why a reunion is so difficult. Lots of underlying feelings that haven't really been resolved. Not just the legal issues.

  • Yeah I saw that, Mike's such a Tosser!

  • I saw that too.

  • OMG what the hell? why are they all gray now?

  • it's called getting older. All humans do this.

  • Mike Love isn't the BB sound to me. i've always been partial to brian's ballads and the Today-Pet Sounds era. even though i'm not a fan of Mike Love, it'd be great if they could all play together once.

  • HEY MR. WIIIIIIIIILSON!

  • Mike Love is a great front man and was and is still a GREAT front man!!

Beach Boys are still under rated!!!!One of the GREATEST bands EVER!

  • I agree. Want to really see him check out the 1964 footage of him doing "Monster Mash" and "Long Tall Texan".

  • Thanks a bunch for the video!!!

    THE BEACH BOYS FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Omg, I hope they reunite for a tour, that would be just amazing. I would pay very good money for that.

  • They are touring this summer actually, They are playing at Riverfest where I live and I plan on seeing them

  • I am thinking something might happen for their 50th anniversary. But it still is premature to assume.

  • good...

  • even if i think pretty lowly of Mike. it'd still be cool to see them all play together once

  • Brian's father was named Murray. Not Walt.

  • Murray or Walt what ever,,,he abused those three boys, and stoled millions from Brian, Mike & the rest f them.

  • I agree.

  • Wow, you know very much about their upbringing. You must have read a lot of books on the subject! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!

  • @PSYCHEDELICDAISY

The Wilson's father was named "Murry," without the "a."

  • Mike Love is such a jackass! He would be a freaking shoe salesman without Brian. He says that the hatchets are in his back....huh dude you toook the lawsuits out on him. What a jerk!

  • I wouldn't buy shoes from him. I'm too hetero!

  • @Lonhall I'm going to guess you and @susietigger2280 must have bought your cars from Melinda

  • Mike Love got screwed by Walt Wilson Brians father by selling the copy rights to the music. Mike help write a lot that music.

  • Reunion, well sort of, Carl and Dennis are gone and Mike (At the time) was suing Al .. I don't think they'll be getting back together anytime soon. It's nice that we still have the old records if we want to relive the past. This music was part of the soundtrack of my life. Thanks BB's

  • I love how at 1:46 Brian says "the radio is playing Good Vibrations!" and then totally checks out of the interview conversation to listen to his masterpiece. Great moment.

  • Bless Brian's sweet heart. Poor little Al couldn't even get in camera shot!

  • wow, Mike, let the other's talk. !!

  • too full of himself is mr Love

  • NO!!LOVE, he gave you a Job and a life!!!!

  • ok ive been wanting to say this forever:

"come on guys lets let our cousin Mike in the band... I know he prances around like a queer and he cant really play an instrument... but he is family so i doubt if he will ever SUE THE SNOT OUT OF ME AND CLAIM HE CO-WROTE EVERY BRIAN WILSON MASTERPIECE..." Im sorry folks but no matter how "cool" a few lyrics you spurted out are... that does NOT equal SONGWRITING 50% of Brian Wilsons master compositions. ok rant off FLAME ON!

  • I'll see Brian the 29th again. He IS the Beach Boys as far as I'm concerned. Seeing him on stage live is still a traet.

  • I saw The Beach Boys without Carl and Dennis was zoned out ('82) and they were Beach Boys in concert. David likes the bottle, Brian hates Mike and Al wants munny but realizes he can't get gigs. Beach Boy mess. Imagine doing "Smile" as a solo CD but months of '66-'67 tapes still exist for a Beach Boys version and don't get touched.

  • I'd love to see the boys reunite. But let's be realistic: They haven't made any new ablums in more than ten years, Brian and Al seem to be happy on their own, Mike still has issues with Brian and Al and visa versa, and like so many other Beach Boys fans, I say that The Beach Boys can never be THE BEACH BOYS without Carl and Dennis

  • Just great to see everyone together - a reunion of Brian Mike Al Bruce - and even David Marks - is the holy grail of fantasy band reunions for me......

  • come on there isn't dennis ro his good old brother.

  • The Beach Boys, as a music group are a shadow of their former selves. They are nothing more then a nostalgia act now. Brian Wilson is going some amazing things as a solo artist and I was glad to see him finally finish "Smiles" the way he wanted it done. In reality with Dennis and Carl both gone and Brian doing his own thing the core and heart of the group is basically gone. But you can't tell that to Mike Love.

  • About a year ago, I saw Al Jardine, David Marks and Al's sons in concert in a small venue in Connecticut and they were playing the Beach Boy playlist. They were pretty good. Al said he still talks to Brian, but not much to Mike Love, who probably is a di**head. Read Brian Wilson's biography and you'll find out that Murray Wilson sold the rights to all of the "good old good ones" in 1970 for $700,000 and bullied Brian into going along with it. In hindsight, an incredibly stupid deal.

  • Depends on what you mean by "just fine." I consider the last ten years of their career a creative embarassment, but they did make some money. And Dennis was a bit of a nut job at the end there, I'll agree. But I don't know, your argument is just fatalist.

  • Obviously this comment isn't from a fan. If it were, they'd know that Denny was the actual IMAGE personifying The Beach Boys.

  • Al: "It's up to this guy here" points at Mike. That's amusing. Those two despise each other, and it was obvious they were trying hard not to sneer at each other. Mike accused Al of being "mentally deranged." So many moments where Brian looks unhappy: when Mike says "the hatchets are here" and points to his back, Brian looks hurts. Naturally, Mike doesn't notice.

  • I know. As I have mentioned on the boards. This was a PR stunt. NOT something The Beach Boys themselves arranged.

  • Brian does look hurt, but nowadays he always kinda looks like that, so maybe he didn't care.

    Mike is an asshole, though

  • None of them are replaceable. Dennis had more songwriting talent than Carl, arguably.

  • I want to express my thanks to the Beach Boys for their music and giving me enjoyment to listening to good music.

  • I agree with originalfunkyfry that Brian has had a lot of other issues, emotionally/psychologically besides just drugs. I'm sure the acid he took didnt help though, some people are just too fragile for it... But anyway, cool video! Great to see these dudes together. Thanks a lot!

  • Unfortunately THIS is a PR stunt. NOT the guys choosing to be around each other. Note the rigid movements and expressions on their faces. In light of the legal issues being dropped recently, IF ( BIG IF) they do get back together, it MUST be on THEIR choosing. Not like this.

  • Let's face it - how can there possibly ever be a true Beach Boys reunion with neither Dennis or Carl?

  • You missed my point. I KNOW Carl and Denny are gone. :-( I am referring to the remaining Beach Boys.

  • I meant more in the sense that without his brothers presence, there is absolutely no incentive for Brian to join the group. He's already toured with Al, doesn't get along with Mike, and as for Bruce...no comment. They have nothing to offer him but nostalgia.

  • cool i was there

  • Hey is this Al Jardine? LOL

  • enjoyed it Mark...when did Bruce join in?

  • I believe it was around 1965. the first song he can be heard on is California Girls.

  • I wish DW could have cleaned himself up. Musically, he too had the gift.

  • Denny if you remember, lived in the "moment" so I doubt he would have. Musically he also had the "Wilson gift". Vocally, he was challenged though. I think his voice last sounded good in the early 1970's. Unfortunately "chemical influences" ruined what he had vocally.

  • Hey MKent, that's because Mike Love treats the brilliant Brian Wilson as though he's embarrassed to be around him. Just look at the way he furrows his brow when Brian wants to continue talking about the harmonies. It should be the opposite: Brain should be embarrassed to be with Love. But Brian Wilson is beyond that sort of behavior. He's a beautiful spirit.

  • I think that Mike, deep down, is saddened by what "chemical influences" have done to Brian.Landy didn't help the matter. In later treatment years.

  • I don't think so. He looked a lot more fit and spry than Love did in this clip. The whole thing about Wilson and drugs is a sham. Lots of people do tons of drugs and they don't "drop out" of society. Wilson obviously had plenty of other issues but in the 1970s/80s "drug scare" is a good excuse.

  • I have a anxiety disorder that causes me to behave badly in stressful situations. Brian had total pressure for 5 years. I am amazed he handled it for so long. Breaking down crying and anger outbursts are huge indications of an anxiety disorder.

  • the pressure on him MUST have been unbearable... before AND after his breakdown. I have Post traumatic stress disorder and its funny how (most)people never look at a person the same after they snap. it could happen to ANYBODY. its amazing that Brian snapped out of it and allows himself to perform and be in the limelite again... im sure he has faced some really awful personal demons. anyone who doesnt LOVE brian wilson just hasnt listened enough.

  • @stumptacular

    I agree completely.

  • Don't jump Mike. They should get together for Kennedy Center. Really they have to!

  • sounds good, I hope they do end up back on stage together:-)

  • Funny how Mike talks about how tough Brian's management is ...

it's so that Brian can be shielded by the tough prick that is Mike Love!!

  • The three (originals) should definitely get together, if Mike can put of being a jerk long enough. It would be so great, but the Beach will never really be the same without Dennis and Carl:(

  • Yes, I agree. Carl's voice was always unmistakeble. Dennis' playful, adventurous spirit gave the group great contrast. I am VERY thankful to have had the opportunity to have my picture with both.

  • A reunion would be great but please ,no John Stamos!

  • aww c'mon, no uncle jesse, hehehe jk

  • John Stamos is obviously with the Beach Boys to give PR to the younger generation. Figured that out WAY back.

  • I agree...Stamos is a terrible distraction during the concert!

  • I would at least like some closure. Maybe a farewell tour or just concert with all the remaining members.

  • Being a huge fan of both the BBs and BW, I have to believe, unfortunately, that their only reunions will take place in offices. Now that Brian is a major solo act and front-man himself, would he ever perform again with the BBs? Doubtful. In this clip it seems like Mike just had major dental work and is still on novacaine (might he have had a stroke or something?). Also the clip disses Bruce and Dave -- Al had to fight to get a word in.

  • If they could just realize what they have in front of them and do a final tour with the remaining members it would be a miracle. I would sell my soul to see that performance. Brian, Mike, Al, Bruce, David, and Stamos of course.

  • Al has teamed up with Brian on tour now. From what I have been hearing it is a great show.

  • Saw Brian and Al in concert this past January in Oakland -- they were amazing! After each song Brian would always (jut about) say, "Thank you very much!" It was awesome to see the both of them on stage together:-D

  • I agree; I was at the same show at the Paramount in Oakland. When Al came out and sang "And Then I Kissed Her" it was like stepping into a time machine. Wonderful.

  • David Marks is standing behind Brian with the red shirt and baseball cap.

  • I thought that Brian like most others couldnt stand Mike Love. Brian was always too nice and now Mike is ready for yet another round on his account... Anyway I love the Beach Boys including Mike ;-)
