Being someone who knows all of Prokofiev's piano concerti and sonatas inside out, I can safely say that he is a FANTASTIC piano composer, but I find his symphonic works a tad redundant and lacking in textural development. Not to say it isn't beautiful... it most certainly is, and the theme is simply genius.
bagleass, clasical music is like happy days and buddy holly, not this crap. this crap is for looosers who sit and chat with a glass of scotch and talk politics or partical physics , you know ?
What is with you children on YouTube? If you were educated in music, at all, you'd realize that classic music-- not older contemporary music-- is the only reason you have what you listen to now. Go to school or at least read Wikipedia.
The only recording of this piece I've ever liked more than this one is the recording with Yoel Levi and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. It takes a good interpreter to make this movement sound as sarcastic and graceful as I think it needs to. 5 stars.
i love this piece...am I the only one who finds the beginning so fun and silly!? i just have a great time while listening. and the ending is so over the top! its great!

it's in 4...
just various tempos
MomijiLover93 3 years ago
@MomijiLover93
It's not all in 4. There's a large section in 3/4 in the center at 3'17" - 5' 40".
profpf 7 months ago
@MomijiLover93 Meter is 3/4 in the middle section.
profpf 7 months ago
The time signature varies between 4/4, 2/2 at around 2:00 , 3/4 during the middle section at 3:16. It then goes back into 2/4 later on.
