I'm pretty sure Kill Again by SLAYER was inspired by the "Night Stalker". The album Hell Awaits was released one month after Richard was caught, and it was recorded in Los Angeles. I'm guessing they were well aware of his murders at the time of writing the album (and the song).

@XXXpallisterXXX The song's about Jeffrey Dahmer, the famous serial killer who kidnapped mostly college aged males, took 'em back to his apartment numbered 213 (hence the name of the song) and would rape, torture, kill, dismember, and eat his victims. He tried making many if all his sex slaves, via drilling a hole into their head and pouring acid in to make them braindead, but this only killed them. 17 confirmed dead and the 18th managed to get away, leading to his arrest. More are assumed dead.

Certainly a disorder was present, but not insanity. Plus if he did get the plea of innocent by insanity granted, he'd be a free man. Good riddance but the story is one of complete awesomeness, in metal terms.
