  • can't get enough of joe hisaishi's music

  • Joe is epic at the ending. He looks so peaceful.

  • Genius.

  • @blachexscude Joe isn't using a wand because he is playing piano and conducting at the same time.If he use a wand. It'll be an obstruct to playing :3

  • I always confuse this with the opening theme of Laputa, does anyone have the same problem ):

  • @TiffanyCullen Not at all.

  • how come hisaishi not using a wand? but instead his using his hand? really want to know please reply.

  • man... this song bring back my old memory *nostalgia*...

  • Es Maravillosa su aportacion a la musica , para mi uno de los mejores musicos del mundo.

  • I'm beginning to think that some people run around hitting the dislike button randomly and for no apparent reason. Don't worry everyone, they don't really mean it.

  • he is my favorite musicians

  • I want to kill anyone..who hit the dislike button...

  • 5 people were smacked around in their childhood...

  • WHY would you dislike this...

  • I seriously love love love this man. Miyazaki and him make magic in movies. Plus he makes more magic by himself, I fall asleep listening to multiple songs of his.

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEST !!!!!!!!

  • una de las mejores canciones de hisaishi, potente y muy melancolica

  • it darn near breaks your heart, and mends it with the greatest care.

  • makes me wonder....what does it take to be the triangle guy in such an orchestra? i wish i were triangle-y enough... :*(

  • @THETruthiness It takes the ability to count out the rhythm of 182 measures in your head, so that... on the 183rd, you nail that triangle piece with perfect clarity, and with the utmost musicality. In addition it requires years of laborious study on triangle performance, and usually a secondary study of advanced Pythagorean mathematics. The good thing at least about being triangle-y enough, is that you're always first chair :P.

    ...

unless it's an orchestra of triangles.

  • @BustTheNotes Not gonna lie, your answer made me chuckle.

Personally though, I'd probably forget to hit that 183rd measure just out of sheer awe of being on the same stage as him :')

  • that piano is like buttah

  • i wonder how Joe feels when he hears his effort, and hard work being paid off. It must feel amazing to be a conductor, you create a world for other people. I want to be like him, he is my inspiration to create art.

  • wow 5 dislikes... Says how amazing this piece is.

  • Beautifull it makes your eyes get wet... u.u

  • The music is feeling like me in the heavens without a heartbreak tear. A needle piercing in my heart like what Safaridede said. Hisaishi has one of a mind of beauty and perfect reflection like a thousand mirrors reflecting his skills. That's how many skills he can do in all of his heart beautiful music like a field of the wind and flowers, blowing calmly and harmless. His mind is a beauty of what he thinks of.

  • as soon as the piano starts, I fell like crying 'cause the beauty of the music ;_;, 10/10

  • i started playing the piano because of him :D

  • Whats with all the pussy comments here, this guy is just fucking amazing, FUCK YEAH!

  • I couldn't even try to play this music....not only would i screw it up, I'd burst into tears and play the music video a million times. @_@

  • This is as both as beautiful as a soft rain and a pounding thunder storm. Simply perfect, it will take you to a faraway place if you close your eyes. This is what emotion sounds like, this is unkept and uncontained freedom. It is as wild and mysterious as the Toxic Jungle that borders the Valley of the Wind.

  • Joe's got some mad skillz.

  • The real worth of his music depends on how good his music would sound to you if you HADN'T seen the movie Nausicaa. As of now, most of you saw the 'imagery' of Nausicaa and hence, when you hear the music, it starts playing back in your mind. And the 'feeling' you get is the feeling you got when you saw Nausicaa soaring in the sky. Thats all it is.

  • @PlancksTime Very true.

  • @PlancksTime I haven't seen the movie yet, but everytime i hear this, i can feel profound sadness. It says Bring me back to my child so my 'imagery' of this song is solely based on the title and might be totally different from the movie. it doesn't matter if you saw the movie or not to appreciate Joe's music or anyones. It is how every listener individually interpret the song and somehow feels connected to the music and that's when they appreciates it.

.argh, i know i didn't make sense. Oh well.

  • @PlancksTime I've never seen or heard of this thing called Nausicaa and I was utterly swept away by the music.

  • You can tell how amazing this man is by how many comments on his videos are more than 4 lines :D

  • sugoi..!

  • “Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and cannot remain silent” - Victor Hugo

  • whats the name of this song? o,o

  • @king0228

Probably either Nausicaa's Theme, or Bring Me Back To My ChildHood

  • 只有perfect能形容這個了...

  • Hisaishi's music and Miyazaki's films were meant to be enjoyed by us stupid little humans from this troubled era....

  • @JhonyGP

    hahaha, well say

  • Dear Hisaishi...We're lucky to have such a Masters like you, so lucky!!! I'm speechless anytime i deep liesten to your music. Thank you very much. Domo arigato Hisaishi sen!

  • this song...... whenever I hear it, I just have to stop whatever I was doing and listen this song. It's just amazing.

  • i'm hearing this through grainy little speakers-- very poor sound quality.

but i'm still torn apart by it's beauty... i can't imagine what it would be like to be sitting there with that music all around me. Those musicians are pretty strong to be able to actually be in the orchestra and playing it without dissolving into overwhelmed tears. i know that's what i would do.

  • Such wonder, such talent... His is a blessing of a gift, well crafted, honed and nurtured, harvested to a civilized society's contentment, delight and perhaps even honor. A true work of art, composed by a true Master of the fine arts.

  • MAGIC IS BORN HERE!!!

  • I feel weird when I listen to his song. Just weird no realization, no feeling cousing through my body, just numb... I guess I'm not cut out for this music. I'm going to go cry now. Merry Christmas.

  • Brividi lungo la schiena

  • Those god soldiers reminded me of bare foot gen...QAQ

  • this makes me shiver when i hear it ! amazing

  • Wow. His music is so amazing.

  • sheeet music for piaano solo anyonee ?

  • Where can I get this song in mp3??? I can't find it... Anyone know? Please help!

  • Comment removed

  • @Glorfindel090690 you can go to Amazon and purchase the mp3 file. Simply search "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Winds - Nausicaä Symphonic Poem: First Movement" within Amazon's Mp3 Downloads department and you'll find it~ :)

  • I think this is one of Hisaishi's best work! it's sooo beautiful, just love it!! all the songs he make's for the Ghibli movies are just amazing, he has so much talent making music and i'm so glad by hearing his songs that there is still some beauty left in the music world (: absolutely amazing <3

  • That opening creshendo blew me off my seat when I cranked up the surround sound. Ghilbli movies wouldn't be the same without Joe's music.

  • when u guys listen to his masterpieces, do ur goosebumps follow his conducting? mine do lol

  • ooo i saw a bouquet of flowers behind Joe.. His musics r so awesome. it has the feeling of sadness but it relives me at the same time.. such wonderous music he has given us. THANK YOU JOE !!!<3333

  • At 2:17 , this is the reason why i like his music ^^ i feel like im flying to the sky and im a anime "hero" like howl ..well im rly a dreamer x)

  • @yeko1993 it's ok, we all are :P

  • dude id do anything to be in that band, id even play the triangle

  • good thing im learning piano, he's my motivation

  • Joe Hisaishi is probably a citizen of a long-lost race of humans who are musically superior to our current race.

  • @littlebearA19 I agree

  • I love the entire piece!!! I can't stop watching it!!!

  • My favorite part starts at 2:18...poignant!!!

  • @ROMANTICLOVE09

    Seriously

Joe Hisaishi truely captures the feeling of flight in this song.

    truthfully breathtaking

  • This sounds like a song that would be played at the end of a sad movie or a lifetime movie special!! I love this kinda music!!! Encore!!!

  • every timei hear a piece by Joe Hisaishi there're always a surge a emotions, it's a nice feeling of connection... And then after the piece is finished, I think to myself "Joe Hisaishi is SUCH a genius!" ><

  • so beatiful...

  • those 462 who like this song should forgive those 5 who dislike it. :x wonderful

  • I looooooooooooooooooove this and the movie it's in!!!!!!!!!! :):):):):):):):) Vote up if you have seen Nausicaa and the Valley of the Winds.

  • so beautiful....i hav always loved the nausicaa movie...its so pretty and the music just gets u..any1 who doesnt feel emotions after listening 2 this has no sense in music...

  • He's so serious while conducting, and after, his face never fails to crinkle into a smile^^

  • This film makes me cry. It is so beautiful.

What makes it so is the amazing music which goes with it and the genius of Mr Hisaishi.

  • Possibly my favorite of Mr. Hisaishi's works. I play this song on my piano and it is breathtaking, but nothing compares to the orchestra and himself. Absolute beauty.

  • This is absolutely breathtaking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • who put thumbs down for this video? That wasn't very nice! >:0

  • Was this from one of the tracks you can buy from this movie on iTunes? Or is it something else?

  • The beginning is just unreal. I never get tired of it. I can't find any ways to get orchestral scores. Does somebody know a page or place? =/ I'm from Europe.

  • beginning at 1:00 that is surely used in Castle in sky also, so beautiful

  • i swear i heard this song somewhere... any ideas????

  • i don't understand the language he speaks, but i understand the language that he lives- Music-

and in my opinion, he is very fluent. ^^

  • Hisaishi's music itself is beautiful and touching as it is, but watching him perform it is even more beautiful because you can see how emotional it is, watching him play.

  • なんど聞いても泣ける。((つД`)゜

  • This song is called "The legend of the wind"... isn't it?

  • It's so beautiful it makes you cry.

  • It IS really amazing, but the one that really brings tears to my eyes, and goose to my...bumps is when Hisaishi conducts the music for Princess Mononoke.

  • is this concert available on dvd? what is the title? : )

  • If I had a choice to see one concert before I die, any concert of my choice, it would be this. So amazing I can't hardly stand it.

  • This piece, like so much of Hisaishi's music, is unbearably, heart-wrenchingly beautiful... and just when I feel like my heart can't withstand anymore, he lifts the piece up into another crescendo and I feel as if I will implode... every note coming from every instrument is impeccably placed and perfectly timed. This man's mind is so beautiful, and his aesthetic sensibility so acute, that there almost seems to be something otherworldly about him.

  • @Crystaline323: You said it so perfectly. He's a genius beyond compare.

  • @Crystaline323 I know exactly what you mean. His music just frees your soul and you feel the beauty of it coursing through every inch of your body.

  • Hisaishi is the one and only person who can pierce my heart with what feels like a needle and then comfort me. This is what his masterpieces sound like. They sing of heartbreaking lonelyness and cry out for you to hear them with your heart. They all break your heart but comfort you so that, just for a moment, the world doesn't seem so harsh anymore.

  • @safaridede so beautiful put....

  • @safaridede

    Right on.

  • @safaridede I think Nobuo Uematsu is another one... :)

  • @pacmanong Why do I feel nostalgia about Final Fantasy 8 when listening to this piece? I know that the 2 are irrelevant, but the tone of the song is so familiar. I bet the song would fit right in with ff8. I heard the saying "pretty people look alike", so I guess it holds true for music too.

  • @safaridede well said.

  • I love this music!!!

  • this guys pieces are just beautiful, its nuts coming from a 17 year old black dude in london

  • Does anyone have a clue where to find this particular song for mp3? I feel like I've searched everywhere. Tips please : )?

  • try converting it with the url link :D

  • You can buy it on MP3 at Amazon.

  • Nausicaa has always been my favorite themes. Something about this film that is mysterious yet beautiful at the same time.

  • he's cute

  • My god. It's beautiful. The way he began on the piano at 0:57 just, made me tear up. Beautiful.

  • 100% agree with u..his music is so beautiful and unique..bring me back childhood memories of mine.=)

  • nausicaa

  • mad genius,

  • It's always fantastic, and such nice parts!

    Thanks for posting ♥

  • I love the piano <3

  • I really cant choose wich song is the best of him there all fantastic =)

But the the top of his songs in my opinion are this here and the Mononoke Theme :3

  • I watched a bunch of Studio Ghibli and Kitano movies. I think this is the best Hisaishi theme over all..

  • he's crazy xD conducting and playing the piano... he really is a master of music!!!

  • I love how Ghibli always portrays women as such strong beings and the way Hisaishi inspires strength even during the most gruelling ordeals. Just great.

  • I watched the movie back in February while doing Chemistry homework.

Of course, I put off watching it for YEARS after seeing the movie on the "anime" section in Best Buy, Circuit City, and Target.

I seriously regret not getting it sooner.

    o-o

  • Greatest song ever made. ;)

  • this gives me goosebumps on my faces several times in the song ;O;

  • is FANTASTIC T.T

  • i love this song so much....it's so unbeleivably beautiful...and the movie i heard it in is my favorite movie:D it's called nausicaa of the valley of the wind. it's such a great story :D

  • I TOTALLY Agree <3 best hayao Miyazaki movie and the best music ever :'D

  • 1:09 is heartbreaking.

  • It was in just such great harmony, and it was a very good song. Makes me want to smile and cry at the same time. :' )

  • Nobou Uematsu vs Joe Hisashi ?

  • that would be touch to call :D

  • Is that the one who did Final Fantasy 10, cause ive never heard such beautiful music in a game, and yeah lets say they should collaborate instead of vs each other.

  • He isn't I don't think Joe Hisaishi ever contributed to a video game.

  • hes gonna contribute to Ni No Kuni: The another world. its coming on the DS so i cant get it T_T. but at least studio ghibli is finally making video games )

  • I didn't know that, that's fantastic, his style will go so well in the world of video games

  • Agreed - the Drug called Music.

  • FF 10 was Nobuo Uematsu.

  • both great!

  • both very good composers

  • vs yasunori mitsuda...cant forget him too...

  • what did yasonori compose for?

  • he did music for chronos cross and chrono trigger...those r the most well knoown but there r other works of his that r really good too.

  • yes this is legend of the wind

  • and isn't this called legend of the wind?

  • i love Joe Hisaishi. i am a musican and i would kill to play just one of his pieces i would kill even more to get him to conduct it for us.

  • fuck seriously how the hell does he do it

  • i know. he's an Elite.

  • absolutely beautiful...

i used to have the cassette tape of it when I was a kid, and I listened to it all the time

  • Oh... his music always makes me thrill

  • I like this music because when I hear it, it speaks and I write what it tells me, love ya hisaishi, love ya hayao =)

thanks for sharing everything with us!

    Thanks for the video

  • why's it called "bring me back my child"?

  • Watch the movie "Nausicaa: Valley of the Wind".

  • what do you mean, is that what it's called in the (English version of the) movie?

cuz you know, if you look up the name of the song in a discography of Hisaishi's work, or of Nausicaa soundtracks, you'll see it listed as "Kaze no Densetsu [Legend of the Wind]" or something very similar (it might be prepended with "Opening", for example).

anyways i'm also curious why it's called "bring me back..." so here's hoping for a detailed answer.

  • I can't tell you why it's called "bring back my child" without spoiling the end climax, hence why i simply said "watch the movie".

  • ah, well, i've already seen the movie, so i'm afraid that's not quite what i meant.

like i said before, the song has a name that is clearly given in any official discography as *not* being "bring back my child"; so, i was kinda curious why someone would upload the song with a name that is different from the official name.

like for example, is there a foreign release of the Nausicaa soundtrack that gives the song a different name? i could understand that kinda reasoning.

  • Oh I see. Sorry I misunderstood. I have no idea why they would give it a different name in English. That seems completely unnecessary. I'm sure it's not important. Come to think of It, isn't this the intro theme? Not the theme that plays when she rescues the baby? Maybe the uploader confused the two tracks?

  • so amazing

  • №1

  • everytime i hear this i want to listen to it 10 more times XD

  • great song for another great movie

  • joe hisaishi and hayao miyazaki = love, joy, sorrow, envy, everything, in one beautiful package!!

  • that is so true

  • lol, i totally agree with you
