@martinchin55 I suppose that this is designed to reproduce the generic talkbox sounds, but Daft Punk used synths with vocoders to get their sounds, not guitars and talk boxes

@userboy6 They make the big muff, big muff pi, nano muff, freeze pedal (that's so tight), the LPB-1 (no doubt what you were referring to "one good pedal.") and a whole bunch of other things. I don't like this one either, but I like most of their stuff.

But I can't help but wonder about the usefulness of them.

I mean, will this be thoroughly used by many musicians and be heard on albums and what not?

I think not...

This might be a good way to make special-effects for other things or something, but that could also be done with a computer.

It's strange to me they can justify it to bring it on the market.

There are more logical ideas that AREN'T pursued, which I don't get...

@DamageIncM Jeff Beck made extensive use of the talkbox back in the day, Peter Framton too, Frak Zappa..

It's on plenty of records, probably gets mistaken for a Wha most of the time.

There isn't a shortage of any of the more common effects on the market at all, in fact the effects market is pretty saturated right now.

Why would someone use a computer at a gig when they can get the sound in a stompbox on their pedal board?
