  • why isnt Harris an officer in intelligence or something like that?

seems kind of a waste that hes a rifleman.

  • Vive Le Emperour!

  • @Viz12345 correction it's: vive l'Empereur

    just saying

  • Simmerson must have the most annoying Brit accent in history.

  • With a modern shotgun you can shoot rabbits, but not with a baker rifle.

  • WHAT THE BLAZES??!

  • Anyone notice that the apples were on a plastic apple tray?

  • @chaz1453 It's a plastic grownsheet, but yeah. The fire ain't enough to heat the kettle, let alone roast a rabbit, I should know.

  • @CordeliaMoreno The tray is like the ones at Tesco's. You could roast a rabbit on it but it would take you a day. It would taste good though.

  • that yank is so good.

  • @Lanakan767 He wouldn't have had that accent, he would have sounded a lot more British.

  • Why the hell is that bird in evening attire there it would appear to me it would be a tad dangerous ans for sharpy not only did he go thro the ranks in all the films he goes thro all the birds as well i tried the other day hired the complete replica uniform just like his hit the town not one bird just got the shit kick out of me by some froggie exchange student!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheSpiritof45 lolwut?

  • Simmerson SO needed to be shot. But (as in real life), he lasts to the very end of the series.

  • @BigEyesSmallMouth Thanks for ruining the damn series you dumb bastard. Some people actually want to watch these.

  • @LordWellington15 You're welcome, asshat. Because these movies are only about 15 years old. Don't look now, but Hong Kong's gone back to China. Hate to shock you, there.

  • @BigEyesSmallMouth Some of us never have seen them before. Just because you are an ignorant retard doesnt mean you have to spoil it for the rest of us.

  • @LordWellington15 When you turn twelve someday and realize that the entire plot of the "Sharpe" series DOES NOT REVOLVE AROUND SIMMERSON, you'll probably calm down a bit. And also? This is the Internet. People can say pretty much what they want. I hope you know just how much I value your opinion--right down to the last soggy 2-ply square.

  • @BigEyesSmallMouth Calm down. It was all a joke you stupid bastard. I have seen these series 100 times over. So in the future learn to control yourself and not spoil it for others. You sir, made yourself look like such a fool.

  • @LordWellington15 First of all, I'm a woman. "Sir". Secondly, if that's a joke in your universe, I weep for you. Thirdly, *I* am not the one to calm down. And last, do cram it.

  • @BigEyesSmallMouth you put him down nicely, needs to be done YT seems to attract arseholes

  • @LordWellington15 you only claimed it as a joke because she made a complete cunt of you, although id say you manage that just fine on your own

  • they kinda remind me of bredans boys in american civil war

  • @50TNCSA

There is a good reason for that. Berdan's men were in green for the exact same reason as these men. Green was the color of "riflemen" back then and thus became the color of sharpshooters and you might say special forces. The Green Berets was for more modern special forces is for the same reason. These "chosen men" depicted in this series represent the ancestors of modern special forces.

  • michael cochrane is a really good actor.

  • I love the small sizes of companies/regiments/etc in Sharpe. About 30 guys making a regiment :P

  • That spaniard certainly surprised Daniel Craig's character. He was quite shaken...

    ...but not stirred.

  • the rifles has only two types of marches: quick march and dwadling

  • what the blazes???

  • "You'll need all your strength for tomorrow...that's an order."

  • living off the land is a smart way to obtain food rather than spend your own money, unless necessary.

  • Half way through the episode and no fights? Lame...

  • @bluevixen1: Where did they get the gunpowder? They've got a waggon.

  • Captain Leroy is pretty cool for a traitorous Tory scumbag....

Speaking of Tories, does Sweet William make an appearance in the latter series?

  • Question: Where did the tents come from? They weren't carrying anything with them as far as I could see.

  • @bluevixen1 On the previous video you can see a cart with white sheets and stuff on it, just behind Sharpe and his men whilst they're at the back

  • That's Daniel Craig the new James Bond

  • Comment removed

  • I loled so hard after 3:07. the retarded general is so funny

  • It's such a pity that for all the historical accuracy of this series obviously the makers of this series never went hiking - where the hell did they get their tent city from? A cart wagon for the two camp followers would be appropriate.

  • I love how arrogant and posh the English are. I hope I can be like that some day.

  • @MajBlood You understand virtually none of us are like that ? right?

  • @Pluginbaby9777 I know but I like to embrace stereotypes and romanticisms. It always disappoints me when people say "not all Germans were nazis" or "Napoleon wasn't really an evil megalomaniac."

  • @MajBlood HA! brilliant, I'm glad to hear it.

  • I love that pissed off growl that Simmerson does... every time! all the way though all the Sharpe series... quality script writing!

  • The tragic thing is, we still have posh fucking clowns with expensive educations and no common sense like Sir Henry now in 2010!

  • @mattyrm We're British. What would the rest of us do without them to complain about! We'd become American!

  • its a good television series but is almost completely different from the books.

  • nadie se mete con españa ajajajajajaja

no one mess with spain hahahahahahah

  • Michael Cochrane is a most excelent actor. He really made Simmerson an easy to hate character.

  • that posh officer is hilarious

  • The one thing that bugs me in all of the Sharpe's until Sharpe's Regiment, is that you only see one company. Even as a One Regiment battlion, should have more then just one company

  • Must say this how many troops/carts need to carry all that silverwear heh. thanks for uploading.

  • 'They only have two marches quicktime and doddoling' this is so true.

  • the fighting 95th the first in the fight and last ones to leave

  • Agreed, can anyone spell entertainment ?

    Appears unlikely.....

Political and historical debates belong in another forum.

    Get a life.

  • amzing how his leg heild over night!

  • You know my impression of the American has been that of a fop, but if he keeps this up, I might grow to like him.

Certainly when compared to the oafs he's had the fortune to serve with. He and the major are the least unseemly of the lot.

  • yeah, the europeans learned the lesson of sharpshooters from us. the british found our snipers with the kentucky long rifles to be a damned inconvenience

  • The British had the rangers and later the riflemen. The Prussinas and austrians had Jagers, all did the same job.

  • fuck u

  • There's no Canada like French Canada it is the best Canada in ze land. LOL

  • An error ocurred.. damn it!

  • In the book Sir Henry commands a battalion of 800-1000 accompanied by a Spanish battalion of the same size. The battle was bigger and so was the bridge... it was an almost 2000 year old stone bridge built by the Romans... The disgust of Henry grows when you read the book... Bernard Cornwell describes him as an most nauseating man who may have become an tax inspector later on... ;D

  • the quality of either doesnt make a difference an army can have good soldiers (killers) and a bad chain of command. or Wellington said it best " Napoleon has the finest soldiers in Europe and I've got the Scum of the earth," and Wellington beat Napoleon

  • "war is as natural to man as ... as...er..."

    "nature,sir?"

"yes,as natural as nature. i like it"

    my god,what an arse...

  • @karshan24 "The french live off the land, why not us?"

Where d'you think they got the rabbit from. There's a differance between living off the land and stealing.

Although, actually, you trap rabbits, not shoot them. You'd never get a rabbit with a rifle, the sound would scare it off long before the shot found it!

  • @CordeliaMoreno goway ya fucking clown of course you can shoot rabbits stop trying to sound like you have fucking clue what you're on about

  • @CordeliaMoreno i used to shoot rabbit, evidently your not correct in this

  • Fools - Opinions and Comments - The triangle of ignorance.

  • yes, what did they bring the woman for?

  • well not ALL of them are gay

  • Your all a bunch of fucking retards. Shut the fuck up and watch the fucking clip.

  • Someone should seriously frag that poor excuse for a regimental commander.

  • Frag him indeed - hehe. I think there would be many applicants for that postiion.

  • indeed, youd have to get in line. IM in front

  • The song Hagman is so wonderfully singing is, "If I Were a Blackbird," but I couldn't find the exact lyrics.

  • yeah but it's almost a complete rewrite, where the lyrics are concerned.

  • That Sir Henry Simmerson is an old freaky jerk.

  • How wonderful it must be to be among the pure and untarnished . To be qualified

to lecture and school all us haughty and

overpaid amero-trash . Tell us all how well YOUR PEOPLE treated the Aboringinals. Tell us how YOUR PEOPLE

segregated sporting events with chain-link fences between French-Canadian and anglo fans. How SENSITIVE was your country toward the Dionne quints?

There's plenty of shit on your shoes, so don't tell us how to live .

  • All of you, quit your bitching and beer hall debates, just watch the fucking episode.

  • nice said

  • Thank you

  • @RollandB

I know it is 2 yeats too late for this reply but .Hear Hear

  • @RollandB

I know it is 2 years too late for this reply but .Hear Hear

  • Hey! do you really have to swear like that?! That's ridiculous!

  • a good bet on hogans part lol

  • Everyone hates America til they get into trouble.

  • Sharpe isn't a pimp. And I HATE HATE HATE that SHITHEEL Simerson. "Pay from your own purse!" Do you want to die of Partisan attack???

  • They have only two marches. Quick time and daudle.

    Lol

  • All the women like Sharpe that pimp. My idol lol.

  • Simmerson is supposed to a colonel

  • Isn't the design of that overly-raised bridge a bit of a give away that it's a prop?

  • This is my favorite Sharpes. Followed by Company, Battle and Honour. Oh, and the rest of them!

  • I like how almost everyone that's in high ranks are either a douche or a wuss

  • lol: They were the ones who stayed behind the battle lines and survived.

  • that why such people still exist today.

  • those who know march those who dont lead

  • they used to buy their ranks back in them days

  • You can still be British and not American...we're always happy for you to come back into the Commonwealth family. :)

  • They'll have to revert to driving on the 'right' (left) side of the road, re-instituting the letter 'u' into honor and color not to mention spelling theatre properly - not theater...other than that welcome back mate. HEHE...jokes boys jokes.

  • This show makes me wish I were British and not an american.

  • I'm pretty sure we have our own badass historical fiction characters...not sure whom or why we don't have as many awesome character franchise. I mean come on Sharpe, Master and Commander, James Bond why don't American have recognizable classy characters

  • Washington? Anyone... Sheridan, etc

  • Huh?

  • I'm sure that you would recognize cowardice...

  • You have the voice of jealousy. Does your hate keep you up at night, knowing people will remember their names, but no one will remember you? Enjoy your mediocre life, and have fun taking potshots at people who are better than you. Cheers

  • No hate merely truth.

  • Why hate someone that is dead and who was just a flawed human being, like we all are, capable of good and bad ?

Doesn't your hate of someone who died 10 years ago say more about what sort of person you are rather than she?

  • yah and the beat the most professional and feared army at its time. in two different wars. where u get the whole sodomer idea flabergasts me. John paul jones also defeated british warships in their own waters and died in his great glory just like the British Admiral Lord Nelson at trafalger.

  • washington retreated so much may be seen as cowardice but in reality he was trying to keep his army intact. as long as the american army was intact the cause could still be believed in. if general Howe wasnt so much of a pussy after getting his ass kicked at breed's hill he could have crushed the american revolution in the first year of the war on Long Island. after seeing over 700 of his grenadiers killed in a slaughter at breed's hill made him to cautious.

  • lol that goes without saying lad, what about the aid that u got from france eh. what about them they had a part to play in the revolution too you know. without them you would be fucked...literally.

  • The war of 1812 when the American Objective was to remove Britain from North America... do me a favour and look up Canada...

  • Jesus fucking Christ stop with this nationalistic horseshit! We "won" the war of independence through the direct intervention of the French and Spanish so it is hardly our victory. The War of 1812 was a stalemate although its fair to say we got our asses kicked as our casualties were exponentially higher than the Brits and Washington D.C was razed to the ground. I don't know why you need to give a shit. Our glory was not then but now. Take comfort that in 2009 we are the mighty not the weak.

  • 'take comfort that in 2009 we are the mighty not the weak'

its people that talk like you that cause 90%of the worlds problems. should the world not unite towards common goal? apparantly not, because the world is full of fools like you.

  • You can't even control Iraq. So forget it. The world has moved on. War is now about spies and intelligence, not impotent armies.

  • acyually two-thirds of Baghdad is underthe control of various Sunni insurgent groups and the Shiite Mahdi Army.

  • And Gordon Brown found his wedding ring, some pork scratchings and the lost city of Atlantis rustled amongst his fourth chin.

See I can make up shit too!

  • Well it was reported by ABC news and the BBC continues to report violence in Baghdad. In any case the justification for not setting a timetable for withdrawel is that it would provide insurgents with the knowledge of when to re-emerge. That is tantamount to an admission that the problem has been suppressed rather than solved.

  • You are wrong. We could control it if we were willing to be utter bastards about it, but we don't, so we won't. While spies and intelligence have always been and always will be part of war, it isn't that or bombs and missiles that take and hold the ground. What always decides a war is a killer with a rifle and a chain of command.

  • Could you put that in sentences please?

  • well you DID Get to burn Toronto :)

  • Pacos Bill...Bowie, Crockett, all very notable American heroes, what are you talking about?

  • well I mean fictional characters where we really don't have to worry about their depiction

  • Hhhmmm... Jason Bourne, Indiana Jones, Bruce Wayne, Atticus Finch, Dick Tracy, Don Corleone, Vincent Vega & Jules Winnfield? Some roles played by James Dean and who can forget Humphry Bogart?

  • hmm oh yeah there's some good series

  • American heroes are all fictionalized, actually...it is a long-standing tradition.

  • infofan is a cunt

  • US 'heroes.'

    G. Washington- land speculator, plutocrat

    B. Franklin- womanizer, slave-owner

    T. Jefferson- slave rapist, hypocrite

    J. Hancock- black marketeer, smuggler

Etc., etc. No such noble group of men could have any ulterior motives for rebellion, could they? Of course not, Americans are always heroic and pure...US history books say so!

bangydangy has no proof I'm wrong, just lame insults!

Prove I'm wrong or I'll keep laughing at you.

  • You're holding these people to 2009 standards. Who cares that Franklin was a slave owner in a time when slavery (as abhorrent as it is) was legal.

I've never heard of Jefferson being a slave rapist, only that he had a relationship with a slave. Think you're exaggerating.

  • Slavery was losing ground in places, though, abrondarbit.

The Abolitionist movement was already gaining momentum in the British Empire at the time. The Empire ceased it in 1833, while the US 13th Amendment, doing the same, was declared in force in late 1865.

Apparently, DNA evidence proves that Sally Hemings had children by Thomas Jefferson.

Slave owners often sexually exploit their slaves. Consensual sex or not, did she really have any choice, being his 'property"?

  • Just a quick point of fact: Britain abolished slavery in 1807, so by the standards of the day it was regarded by abhorrent and illegal and it is a mistake to believe that "it was all perfectly normal".

  • I agree that as its base level, US history is childlike in its simplicity. But British history - as with any human endeavour - is littered by shady and corrupt individuals. Am reading Gulliver's Travels at the moment which is of course a satirical attack on Britain in the eighteenth century.

  • Yes, I have read Gulliver's Travels as well- and agree with much of it, too.

Swift's disgust at hypocrisy is great- British hypocrisy or anyone else's...all human beings can be 'Yahoos.'

He also points out that many of the people we are told are heroes were nothing of the kind.

A glance at British history reveals great glory, yet ugliness too.

Yet I love Britain because she has largely faced up to her mistakes, which requires moral courage and integrity...not self-justifying myths.

  • cuz the british started that tradition of the forester sort of corps the pold (albeit ficticious) units of foresters like robin hood started the tradition that allows people to like sharpe, the common man in a pretty good position

  • That soldier has a beautiful voice.

  • I know. Hagman Rocks!

  • yah know what, I'm not even sure myself

  • what rank is Sir Henry Simmerson by the way

  • LT. COL
